great test for all golfers
This is one of the best layouts in the Chicago area. They're doing a very good job keeping the course in great condition. This is a course you could play every day.
Great course.
Course was great besides when I got there golfnow never booked my tee time for 7:48. The best thing was they called me at 7:45am to tell me about problem an said they could book a tee time at 11am... Nice warning.. But I will say staff is really nice. They still gave me the discount and was still able to get out on course at my original tee time.
Dunne and done
Very good course layout with many challenging holes. That's the problem the general golfing population isn't up to the challenge creating a death march pace usually over 5 hours+ . Dunne gets a lot of play and it shows, lot of unrepaired ball marks on greens. I guess people forget or just can't bend down to fix ' em. Fairways and traps show wear and tear.
It's a great course to bad it's takes so so long to play.
The nicest forest preserve course
George dunne is without a doubt the nicest and hardest forest preserve course. The course is in very good shape and always plays tuff. Every hole is very scenic and thought out. A 90 on this course from the whites is an 85 on most other courses. We played for 30.00 on golf now and it was a steal for that price! This course will not disappoint.
My Kingdom for a Ranger!
Paired up with Bill and his son Michael otherwise this round would of been BRUTAL! Had to wait on every tee box! No way this should happen on a Tuesday at 11am! Minimum two groups at a time on every hole, 3 groups at a time on 6 holes and 4 groups at a time on 2 holes! My Kingdom for a Ranger! Love to play this course, but never again this year. Will hope for better pace of play next year.
Wonderful Experience
Really enjoyed playing this long and challenging golf course!
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your round at George Dunne, we look forward to having you play again soon!
In good shape
Considering all the play this course gets, it's in pretty good shape and the price we paid on Golfnow was great . I would do it again.
Thank you for you feedback, we are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your round as well as the course conditions. We look forward to seeing you on the course again soon!
Great
Great course and challenging...especially on the back 9. Looking forward to playing there again.
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your round, we look forward to having you play again soon!
Love this Course but Pace of Play is BRUTAL!
George Dunne is a really enjoyable and entertaining course to play. Each hole is unique and has its own character. Expect to see tons of wildlife as this course weaves in and out of a lush forest preserve area.
Only downside is they pack em in like sardines here. With my 115pm tee time on a Friday, we were delayed to a 2pm start. Then the round took a 5 hour 45 min pace. Really quite unacceptable.
This course is a treat to play, but beware this round wil take an extra few hours out of your day ...
Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that pace of play affected your round. We tend to experience a high volume of play on the course, especially on weekends with favorable weather. Our staff does their best to encourage each guest to keep a reasonable pace and apologize if you felt this was not communicated effectively. We are currently working on a few different strategies and programs designed to improve the pace, as we understand it is important to every golfer. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the conditions and atmosphere the course provides and we look forward to having you play again soon!
Great condition and challenging!
I love playing here. The staff is great, the course condition superb, and the there are enough challenging holes to keep me on my toes! It's but a thirty-so minute drive from downtown Chicago, where I live, and well-worth the drive. My wife and I really enjoy the wildlife we see on the course. We saw a coyote strolling across a few fairways yesterday. Such a treat! If you have yet to play George Dunne, give it a go...but be prepared to be challenged, particularly on the back nine!
Thank you for your feedback, we are always happy to hear when guests have an enjoyable round at George Dunne! Our crew works extremely hard to keep the course in good condition and will be happy to hear their work is appreciated by our guests. We are glad you made the short trip from downtown and hope you will be back to play again soon!
Good Forest Preserve Course
This was the first time I played this course in 5+ years, and I have to say that it has held up well for all the traffic it gets. This is a busy public course. My buddy and I were put into a foursome, with the course being busy for the holiday weeekend. The course was in good condition considering all the rain we had for the previous few days, so there were sand traps and fairways with standing water. With all that said, I enjoyed the course!.. It's plenty long from the tips with plenty enough difficulty for experienced players, and the greens are in good shape. Ball mark repairs can be improved by players.
Beverage cart girls were fantastic with the drinks. Bring BUG spray!
Thank you for your feedback, we are thrilled to hear you enjoy playing at George Dunne National. We are always happy to offer guests an enjoyable experience and hope that you will be back for another round soon!
Mark's Review
Great track for a great price. Greens were fairly slow. Pace of play was super slow. 5 hours.
Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to hear you enjoyed your round at George Dunne National. We have a fairly high volume of rounds during warm weather which can result in a slower pace than is typical for the course. We do our best to encourage each guest to keep up with a reasonable pace, and would be happy to speak with you directly to advise on what tee times are likely to result in the quickest pace. We hope to see you playing again soon at George Dunne!
Course is golfer friendly and fun to play.
Everything was as expected. There were no hitches in the process from purchasing the tee time to paying at the golf course.
We are happy to hear you had a great experience at George Dunne National, we look forward to having you play again soon!
Play from The Right Tee
Course was very wet (cart path only) so we got a little more exercise. Moved up to the white tees as the ball would not roll and that was a good idea.
I think most golfers would enjoy the course and so do the deer Oh, there beer comes in 24oz cans so be warned
We are glad to hear you enjoyed your round at George Dunne National. We appreciate your feedback and hope you can come back and join us for another round now that the course has dried out from recent rains!
great course with slow play
Very nice course but GD crams foursomes on the course which pratically guarantees bckups. It t [k 3 hours to play front 9 on Saturday

Great course
Course was in excellent condition and well maintained even with heavy rains the previous day
Challenging course
The course has great scenery. It's well maintained. There are a lot of huge bunkers protecting the greens. Some very nice water holes. Any shots that stray from the fairway are lost for good as each hole is surrounded by forest and thick fescue. I'm guessing getting stuck in the sand and losing balls in the fescue slows down play. The round was slow. We kept pace with the foursome in front of us and the cart still said we were 20 minutes behind. Concessions are way expensive. Staff is very friendly. The facilities and pro shop are very nice. I would play again but maybe not on the weekend since it seemed so busy and slow.
The Dunne review.
Overall this course is very good and fun to play at..I play here all the time. And my friends like playing here too. The finishing holes have some teeth and can cause you a few strokes if not played smartly.
We are happy to hear you had a great time during your round at George Dunne. Our agronomic team works hard on the course all year long and it is nice to see that our guests are enjoying their experience! Hope to see you and your friends playing again soon!
Slow slow slow
Nice course but slow tee time was 20min late because they were holding groups because all carts were in use on the course. Played from 4pm to 8 pm and only got 14 holes completed. I have tried to pay here several times and it seems that 5 plus hour rounds are typical ouch not playing here again unless it is te crack of dawn
We are sorry that pace of play impacted your round at George Dunne National. We receive a high volume of play, especially as the weather warms up in peak season. We want each guest to have an enjoyable experience and would be happy to speak with you about which tee times will likely result in the quickest pace of play. We hope you will come back soon to play another round, and have a fun and enjoyable experience at George Dunne!
Best Course in the South Suburbs
Absolutely love this course! It's quite challenging due to a variety of factors including long carries, water, fairway and green side bunkers, and then you add in the length of the course. I've never played from the tips, but playing from gold is still a challenge. The course is kept up in great condition and the staff is friendly and accommodating. It's an added bonus that you can pay the cart girl with a credit card. If you want to challenge yourself, play this course.
Thank you for taking the time to play at George Dunne National! We are always happy to hear when a guest enjoys their round of golf and overall experience at our facility. We hope to see you again soon!
