Ledges Golf Club
About
The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley is tucked away in the Pioneer Valley, an area of western Massachusetts known for its lush, rolling hills. It is a favorite amongst locals since it is one of the best values in the region. The course enjoys scenic views that stretch to Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range. It is on the shorter side at just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, but the dramatic changes in elevation make it seem much longer. Most of the greens are raised with steeply sloped sides, making accuracy essential since missing them by even just a few feet will result in a serious penalty. The golf course has a heavily wooded front nine that seamlessly transitions into a more open back nine featuring links-style holes. The Ledges is a shotmaker's course that offers several interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Ledges Number Four, Par 4, 276. The fairway is narrow, with precious little bail-out to its right. A driveable hole for the bold. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

# Nine, Par 5, 528. These bunkers will snare many an approach shot that is sliced or pushed. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The 10th is a classic downhill par-5 of 564; it’s a three-shotter for all but very long, straight hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The massive bunker that sides green eleven could be a nightmare for those who aren’t all that handy with a sand wedge. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Eighteen (from the left rough): Great finisher where you’ll want to avoid every one of the seven fairway bunkers, including these three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The final hole as seen from its right rough. Getting up and down around this green is no simple task. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Love this place
Out of all the courses I’ve ever played, this one is by far the most risk/reward layout I’ve seen to date. I normally play white tee boxes elsewhere, but yardage here from the whites is probably less than your use to, so blue tees are where I play from here. The layout is awesome! No 2 holes are the same. Several holes offer eagle opportunities, however a miss hit will leave you in trouble most often. Drivable par 4’s...4 to be exact. Short par 5’s if you get off the tee well. The grass reminds me of a memory foam mattress. When you lift your foot from fairways the footprint slowly rises back up. Point is the ground is soft. Easy to take big divots. Less friction between your club and the ground makes my clubs go further here by around 10 yards an iron. The greens hold extremely well, so attack the flag, but please repair those ball marks. The greens were always slow and bumpy and not that true as a result, but recently that has changed. Much, much faster now and the putts actually break as you’d expect as a result. The staff is awesome and they always seem to remember who I am, so when it’s time to check in, they’re already a step ahead as I walk into the pro shop. My only complaint is some tee boxes on the par 3’s are a bit beat up. That usually leaves uneven footing when setting up to hit a shot. But overall this place is one of the funnest places I’ve ever played, and I’ve played lots of places from around the area and well out of state! It’s affordable. It’s fun. It’s friendly. Book it!
Great day at Ledges
This is one of the best courses is western Mass. The fairways are incredible, the greens are in great shape, and the tee boxes are perfect.
Difficult to find the course
I had a hard time getting to the golf course but once I was there I found it to be a very enjoy able Course to play.
Second time
This is my second time playing this course and brought along a few more players to share the experience. The greens were excellent and ran true. The rough was... rough, however if you kept it in the short grass you could have a great round. The only disappointment was the pace of play.
I do believe that you and your buddies will have a great time.
I man in CT
Enjoyable as always.
I great muni course, with vistas of Mt.Tom across the CT River. Bent grass fairways in wonderful shape and although the greens were VERY FAST for a muni course, they also were in fine condition. This layout is very enjoyable, with varied hole challenges, for players of all abilities. Keep up the good work Ledges!
beautiful views if you pay attention
Very decent course visited with Safari club. Scenic, fair , nice conditions and staff. Need a cart though. Long walks between holes. But walkable.
Excellence
Played from the tips first time playing. Course was in excellent condition. Very challenging course. If you make it past the fourth hole unscathed you'll have a great round. You'll want to buy a yardage book. I will be back to best my 81
SAFARI GOLF ASSOCIATION
ON AUGUST 16TH I PLAYED LEDGES GOLF COURSE WITH THE SAFARI GOLF ASSOCIATION
THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AND THE STAFF WAS THERE TO GREET YOU AND DID A GREAT JOB
THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE
LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAYING THERE AGAIN THIS YEAR
Always a Pleasure
Played with the Safari Club. Course conditions were excellent with fast greens. I have played here many times and it is our go to course. It is a moderate challenge with many risk-reward opportunities. The staff at the pro shop are always friendly and the bartender and waitstaff are too. Great sandwiches, haven't had time to try dinner. Would recommend this for anyone to play. We returned a week later to play again.
Wonderful course, always enjoy playing it. And great bargain for the price
Safari group review
This course gets better each year, and some of the cleanup on fairway edges helps.
Greens were in very good shape, we got a little lucky and rough was not too high
I would like to see better food in the restaurant - ever since they lost their chief/manager the food quality has been only fair
Excellent course
Played this on 8/16 with the Safari Club. Course is in excellent condition throughout. We were treated very well by the staff from the time we arrived until after golf in the grill room. Well worth the visit and looking forward to next year's event.
Love the bent grass
Played the ledges in a Safari Glof club event!!
Fairways and greens are bent grass ,perfect conditions
from tee box to green .The greens were a little quick ,be below the hole.
The short par three is a little chip and not an easy hole.
The staff and management were perfect !!!
Great conditions fair price ,this is a go too golf course!
Another Safari Club favorite
It should not be surprising to learn this is one of the Safari Club's favorite stops on it 25 plus course schedule each season. The golf course is in EXCELLENT shape, the staff is OUTSTANDING and the food was absolutely FANTASTIC. At least that's the general consensus of opinion from the 130 Safari Club members that attended this event on Wednesday.
A Safari Club Favorite!
It doesn't get any better! What a great track that's very user friendly and fun to play. Excellent condition and a great Staff. Treat yourself and go play it, you won't be disappointed for sure...
