Ledges Golf Club
About
The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley is tucked away in the Pioneer Valley, an area of western Massachusetts known for its lush, rolling hills. It is a favorite amongst locals since it is one of the best values in the region. The course enjoys scenic views that stretch to Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range. It is on the shorter side at just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, but the dramatic changes in elevation make it seem much longer. Most of the greens are raised with steeply sloped sides, making accuracy essential since missing them by even just a few feet will result in a serious penalty. The golf course has a heavily wooded front nine that seamlessly transitions into a more open back nine featuring links-style holes. The Ledges is a shotmaker's course that offers several interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Ledges Number Four, Par 4, 276. The fairway is narrow, with precious little bail-out to its right. A driveable hole for the bold. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

# Nine, Par 5, 528. These bunkers will snare many an approach shot that is sliced or pushed. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The 10th is a classic downhill par-5 of 564; it’s a three-shotter for all but very long, straight hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The massive bunker that sides green eleven could be a nightmare for those who aren’t all that handy with a sand wedge. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Eighteen (from the left rough): Great finisher where you’ll want to avoid every one of the seven fairway bunkers, including these three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The final hole as seen from its right rough. Getting up and down around this green is no simple task. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Excellent
Play there 4/5 times a year. Would like to play more times Limited on money and I take advantage of any deals they offer along with Golf Now. Fareways are nice and soft I find the greens just right and not to challenging.
Great condition
Course was in excellent condition. Very good staff.
Great value
Even though we got to the course after tea timethe staff was very accommodating in getting us off. The course was in very good shape and we couldn't have asked for a nicer day. I would not hesitate to go back and play there again
beautlful course
I didn't play that well but the course was in good shape for this time of year. Enjoyed playing here anyway as the view was great and the company was as well. Has to be one of the most beautiful courses around. The only downer was the amount of sand on the greens which made putting difficult.
Plush
The Ledges is in the best shape out of any of its competitors. Greens are on the way back after an aeration last week. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are usually plush. If I had to nitpick, the sand is a bit rocky and the rough is inconsistent, but I'd be reaching. I hate giving it a good review because I don't want the secret to get it how nice it is here.
Ledges golf day
The course was in excellent condition except for the greens still healing from aeration. A great day of golf.
Greens
Course is beautiful, although they were in the process of sanding and aerating the greens. The staff was upfront about the issue before teeing off and it did not have much of an impact
Fairways need work
The course was in overall good shape other than most of the fairways which had a bunch of burnt out spots or just non-maintained care. I understand for the most part that NE is in a drought, but these areas look more like care issues rather than water issues. The fairways need work !
Along the Connecticut River
A beautiful setting with views of Mt. Tom to the west. Lots of variety in course layout and a lovely patio for dining at the 19th. Played with the Safari Club of W. Mass.
Nicely kept
This course looked great! The layout was fun and it was in good shape. The greens had just been aerated but other then that. The pace of play was brutal! I was a single player and it took almost three hours to complete 9!
Premium Experience
First time playing this course, played 18 in the afternoon with a buddy after we had played 18 holes at another nearby course that morning. Was initially struck by the clubhouse and incredible view of Mt Tom - beautiful! Would be an absolute must play during the fall foliage. The gentleman in the clubhouse was very friendly and professional and the twilight rate for 18 with a cart is an excellent price.
The course was in great shape save for a few of the short par 3 greens, which were fairly beat up, but that is to be expected as they see a ton of tee shots. Excellent variety along the course and a number of opportunities to score if you are a longer hitter. Features a couple par 5s that are reachable in two. Great course design with lots of risk/reward propositions, my favorite being the 4th par 4, a short drivable par 4 if you can carry the ball 250y. It is guarded by water right up to the green, obtainable eagle if you have the guts to go after it, or you can play it safe to the fairway that runs along the water to the right. Lots of uphill and downhill shots, fairway bunkers, fescue, trees, water- excellent variety and characteristics. Not many area courses have this much to offer in the sense of variety and spectacular views. Even the cart drive on a boardwalk style cart path through everglades to access holes 5-8 was very cool. A private country club feel and quality at muni prices. Highly recommended, will absolutely be back soon!
Very nice layout
My husband and I played this course for the first time. It was a fun, but challenging course. We wish the yardage was displayed better. All in all it was a great value. We would play again.
Great day of golf!!
Fairways and greens are in great shape. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Shot my best game of the year.
Staff is excellent
New staff this year in the Pro Shop, Starters and the restraurant it has improved relationship with golfers tremendously, and that is for the good, They all know how to treat the golfing public.
Go and enjoy this course and with fall just arounf the corner the views are excellent. Hard to keep your mind on golf with colors. Thanks Andy, Jim, James, Ashley, Tom, Stan, Chris, David, Joe, Lee, Toni, Delaney, Brenna, Taylor, Martha and Cheyanne. Hope I did not miss anyone because you are all great.
Safari Club event
Beautiful course, well maintained. Convenient location for local players. Definitely a challenging course. I would recommend it to friends, of course.
The Ledges is a scenic course in the pioneer valley.
I played the Ledges with the Safari group last Wednesday and enjoyed my round very much. First of all the staff were very accommodating prior to our round. During the round the club pro made the effort to drive around the course and stop and ask how we were doing. The course was in excellent shape. I found the greens to be fast but very consistent. I have played this course many times and never get tired of the fabulous view of Mt Tom , the Holyoke Mountain Range and the Skinner House.
Another very enjoyable day
I have played Ledges many times in the past. It is my favorite local course. I is challenging enough but still very playable. I played Monday and the pace was very slow, stuck behind some very slow player and at the turn a group jumped in front of us. Wednesday I was with the now famous Safari Club. Every thing went so smooth from start to finish. The greens were in their excellent condition and the fairways were surprisingly green in spite of the drought. They use their ponds to keep the water flowing. Afterward had a great meal in the clubhouse. I always recommend the Ledges to anyone in the area or those who are willing to drive a little.
Very pleasent place to play
Had a great day at Ledges with the Safari Club. The course is in great shape, greens were fast and smooth and the weather was perfect.
Another Great Safari event
A great day (Breezy and Cooler) at a great course with the greens in terrific shape and a challenge of skills on most of the holes. the friendlley staff did a great job in hadling the large group
Great conditions
The course offers private course conditions at public prices. Even though the course gets a lot of play the maintaince staff does a great job keeping up with the conditions. If you want a course that gives you a chance to test your game this is it. Keeping the ball in the short grass is a must and penalizes wayward tee shots. You will definitely need every club in the bag and will give you many options on how to play the hole.
