Ledges Golf Club
About
The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley is tucked away in the Pioneer Valley, an area of western Massachusetts known for its lush, rolling hills. It is a favorite amongst locals since it is one of the best values in the region. The course enjoys scenic views that stretch to Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range. It is on the shorter side at just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, but the dramatic changes in elevation make it seem much longer. Most of the greens are raised with steeply sloped sides, making accuracy essential since missing them by even just a few feet will result in a serious penalty. The golf course has a heavily wooded front nine that seamlessly transitions into a more open back nine featuring links-style holes. The Ledges is a shotmaker's course that offers several interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Ledges Number Four, Par 4, 276. The fairway is narrow, with precious little bail-out to its right. A driveable hole for the bold. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

# Nine, Par 5, 528. These bunkers will snare many an approach shot that is sliced or pushed. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The 10th is a classic downhill par-5 of 564; it’s a three-shotter for all but very long, straight hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The massive bunker that sides green eleven could be a nightmare for those who aren’t all that handy with a sand wedge. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Eighteen (from the left rough): Great finisher where you’ll want to avoid every one of the seven fairway bunkers, including these three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The final hole as seen from its right rough. Getting up and down around this green is no simple task. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Great course in a beautiful area.
I lived in The Pioneer Valley for a while and always enjoyed playing this course. A friend and I played on a Friday morning. The course was in great shape. The greens had been punched earlier in the week but rolled really well in spite of that.
The only negative comment I have is in regards to the clubhouse. The wasn't one! Well there's s building but no one working in the kitchen. The pro shop handled the usual transactions. No hotdog on the turn. No lunch after the round. The view is outstanding from the deck. My group would have easily spent the afternoon there having lunch and drinks. If you wanna play a round and head out immediately this is a good spot.
Awesome
Absolute great shape and love the course
Great views
For late November the course was in great shape. Most of the leaves were blown off the course but if your ball rolled into the woods forget it. The course is challenging enough to keep it interesting but not overwhelming. Some holes are rather short but offer a challenge by requiring layups to avoid bunkers and waste areas. The views of wetlands and Mt Tom are awesome. I had a very enjoyable time even though I was playing by myself.
I didn't eat in the restaurant, so I am leaving that category blank.
call ahead re sanding of greens
I played in OCT early am. Lots of shadows, leaves down and was not properly warmed up (good excuse). My other players were not helpful (local yocals). Of course it always pays to know nuances. I will go back under different conditions (later in day, different time of year. The course is well maintained . Tee it low on some holes. I hit a faade, course set up for draw. I started playing better after 5 holes (sun out, separated from the 2 ball). The signage upon entering and navigating prob suits local yokos, but it was useless as the print was teeny weeny. I got a great deal on golfnow...Now I know it was sanded. Lots of shorter par 4s. I lost 30-40 yds on teeball, but risk reward takes place. If u play for par u will get par. Thats enough. number of blind shots. greens are probably great midseason. By the way, when in the rough here, just get out. Cost me bigtime on 18 aftyer a 250 ydr. leaked into rough by 1 foot. Turned hossel twice. Thank God I have a sense of humor
Great game of Fall golf
The course is in great condition, nice fairways, the greens were still good for playing in October. Decent pace of play. VERY BEAUTIFUL course in the fall, especially with all the leaves turning colors and the great elevation of the course. Overall great value and can't wait to play here again
Interesting course
I like this course, it gives you the opportunity to score well if you take some small chances and is always in good shape.
I found the staff to be accommodating and friendly. I got paired up with another guy that signed up with the hot deal too and he had no complaints either.
I will definitely play here again.
Ledges Rock!
Played Ledges after they got a lot of rain. Had to keep the cart on the path, many very soft areas.
Beautiful layout! Everything was in great shape except for the wet conditions which the course cannot control.
I had a good round for having never played here before.
I will return when it dries out.
Recommend this course.
This course is in great shape
Never Disappointed with this course . The course has been in great shape all year. Pace of play was 4 hrs. Fairways in great shape and the greens were rolling well.
One of my favorites
Th course is great. My only complaint was the pace of at on the front 9 was slow. 2.5 hrs
Hidden Gem
Course was awesome. Fun & challenging!
Staff was great! Food however was disappointing.
Sandwiches skimpy, fries were soggy.
Will definitely go back and play again, but will not eat there.
Golf conditions
Poor drainage the pro is a completely rude person On 071815 there was a rain delay he made us wait three hours to drive cart path only. The drainage is a problem but the rudeness of this man is off the charts for a golf course. I talked to several other people and the agree. Also this is the only course I have been to where buying tickets from golf now let's u be treated like a lower class citizen
Great round of golf
My friend and I were warmly welcomed, even with hot deal (not always the case with some courses) and the course conditions were excellent. We were able to conplete play in a little over 4 hours. Playing the Senoir tees made it more manageable for us and the other twosome with the hot deal and made for a very enjoyable round. The greens were nice and fast and true, the fairways were wet from an inch of rain the night before but for the most part had great drainage. The rough was good and brutal but fair. Would recommend course for anyone who likes a good challenge.
The Ledges treats Golf Now bookings like they are trash!
We arrived about 40 minutes before our tee time and checked in only to find they had NO listing of our reservation, which of course, I'd already paid for. The young man offered zero customer service and just looked blankly at us when we questioned what they were going to do about it? I showed him the confirmation email FROM the Ledges. My partner demanded to see the manager who found the reservation. I said something about how it was odd the young man could not find it which drew a retort of "Well, that's why I'm the general manager."
NEVER, EVER was there the slightest "Gee, folks sorry for the mix-up," only arrogance and TERRIBLE customer service. There are many courses in Western Mass. and this place slid down to the bottom of the list! Good riddance!
Great shape
Course was in amazing shape. Greens were perfect. Finished round in under 4 hours. No complaints.
Picturesque Day
Being from The Boston Area and spoiled with private facilities, The Ledges was a fun change. The course was in decent shape. It seems to get quite a bit of play. The course layout is a bit quirky and a tad gimmicky but nonetheless a fun track to play. Players seem to not pick up their feet when walking on the green and seem to not know how to fix pitch marks. The course is in decent shape and soft. Even with the softer conditions and lack of care from other players, the greens rolled pretty nicely. Putting green is nice, however the driving range is basically in another zip code and I didn't use that facility. Overall it's a fun place to play with some challenging holes and a handful of short holes with good conditions.
Fantastic conditions
Probably the best tees fairways and greens in western Massachusetts
Booking using Golfnow
Bad experience using Golfnow reservation feature.
Booked T time for 2 players for Sunday, June 7th.
Received several emails confirming reservation, was charged $4.98 reservation by Golfnow.
Received a Phone call from Ledges Golf course on Saturday morning informing me that the Sunday reservation are NOT valid and are cancelled.
According to the Proshop at Ledges, they claim that Golfnow was at fault for posting Tee Times that were never available
BEAUTIFUL SCENERY
THE STAFF FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS. THE COURSE IS INCREDIBLY WELL MANICURED AND IN GREAT SHAPE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.
Don't go if you book a Deal time
My friend and I had a 12:30 tee time.We arrived a little before noon. We were told we had to wait for another twosome that had booked for 12:30 because it was done on Golfnow. Took our slip to the starter, and he said we could go right out. Got to the 1st tee and the starter came down and said we had to wait, even though there wasn't anyone on the tee. He said we could go out if we paid FULL price.Waited for a half an hour with nobody around. Other twosome showed up and at 12:25, they let 2 walkers go right out in front of us.On the door to the clubhouse they had a sign that said,"No Denim" rule will be strictly enforced after May 1.Guy in front of us was wearing jeans. I have been to many courses and was always told that if we were ready, and there weren't any people in front of us, go right out. Go to this course only if you pay FULL price.Otherwise, they don't treat you very good. Also couldn't use practice green because they aerated it and had to clean it. It was totally clean while we were sitting on first tee waiting, but they still wouldn't let us on until they put the flags in the ground. Of course there wasn't anyone around to put the flags in the ground. Won't go back or recommend to anyone. Too many courses that WANT you to play on their course.
