Hibiscus Golf Club
About
Hibiscus Golf Club is one of the few 18-hole courses in Naples that are open to the public. The course is player enough for beginners and while it may not be what you're looking for if you're in search of a formidable test, it's good for some casual practice for the more advanced player. The layout balances player-friendly, wide fairways with greens that are guarded by strategically placed bunkers. There is a series of lakes and streams throughout the golf course that come into play on nearly every hole. The golf course has seen several improvements since it first opened in 1969, especially after it was badly damaged from a hurricane. More than 200 trees were added as well as 1,200 grasses and shrubs. Hibiscus Golf Club also has a driving range and putting green.

You better keep it in the fairway
This is my first review but won’t be my last. People should hear the truth from the locals. They just did a $5M renovation to the course and trust me, you wouldn’t know it. Anywhere off the fairway is a cow pasture. The greens on the back 9 were acceptable but the greens on the front 9 were almost laughable. They were hands down the shaggiest greens I’ve ever played on in SWFL and I’ve played over 40 in the area over the years. In comparison to other public courses in SWFL it’s no better or worse then the others. Unfortunately in SWFL public golf is terrible unless your willing to shell out $400+ to play Tiburon which if you’re on vacation, I suggest you spend the money at Tib!
Pricey
I've played much nicer golf courses for half the cost. Public golf is very limited in Naples. I get it. It is what it is . That being said, next time I'm in the area, I'll probably play it again.
Good course
Nice course with several challenging holes but playable for the high handicapper. A bit pricey for what you get but enjoyed day there.
Greens like shag carpet
It is unbelievable what they charge for a course in this condition. There is virtually no grass off the fairway. But the real issue is the greens. They were as long as shag carpet. You need a croquet mallet to get it to the hole. The pace of play was also slow.
Nice course but in poor condition
This course has very much play. We did not see any grounds maintenance staff on the course the entire round. Fairways have hard packed dirt and poor grass conditions. Greens were slow with mixed grasses and sand topped in. Fringe of the greens was high and rough, no possibility of putting off the green.
Not worth the greens fee
Course has been re-done and is decent but not worth $150 for 18 holes. Greens are ridiculously slow,! Not many choices in Naples for public play
Improving
Course improvements since closed last spring/ summer. Tees and traps, much better additional tee markers added. Fairway turf better but still more needed. Greens surprisingly slow and a little bumpy. They’ve been good in the past.
Great staff, greens fees up but still moderate compared to other insane ones. I
Terrible course and way too expensive for what we got.
The course was in terrible condition. I've been in cow pastures that were in better shape. Starting with the greens, they were long and literally un-puttable. Fairways, not much better. It was hard to see where the fairway ended and the rough began. No real cart paths, gravel near tees and greens. And those were full of pot holes. Tee boxes were toast.
Practice range required hitting off mats. Hard to get a good feel for your game using mats. And they were close together - I felt like I would hit my neighbors.
Carts, were newer, and had GPS, so that was nice.
All of this would have been tolerable, if the price was reflective of a sub par public course. I only played 9 holes, and with a small bucket of balls, my cost was $80. The balls were $10. Yikes. Way too expensive for the condition of the course. My hunch is they are taking advantage of the visitors who cannot play at a country club. I will not return.
Awful
Just awful conditions. Two holes, I only played 9, had flag sticks laying on green. Why? Because flagsticks were broken on bottom and would not stay in cup. Don’t waste your money.
Trying after renovation
Pace of play very slow
Greens need a lot of work yet
Reopen conditions
After closing for about a year, the conditions at Hibiscus are no better, and in some cases worse especially the greens.
Reopen Course
The place looks great, pace of play was a times a little slow but overall we had a good time.
They could use a bigger driving range. I had to wait a while for an open spot.
Suggest limiting the bucket size to small only during the heavy tee times hours
Recent Golfer
I spent almost $800 for a foursome to play there early this year. The course was in terrible shape, and certainly not worth the money. The fairways barely had any grass.
I was missing a golf club from my bag and called up to ask if they could look for it and the lady that answered was one of the most rude human beings I’ve ever met. I was 45 minutes away and the only response was we get hundreds of lost clubs you have to come here and look we’re far too busy to go do that ourselves.
Very poor staff and conditions, would not recommend playing.
Poor course management
After being told we could have golf cart handicap privileges due to myself with a heart condition and partners knee replacement just 2 months ago,, we paid the $150 green/cart fee the golf cart. After playing 9 holes we were denied access to play fairways at the turn.
Needless to say this is poor customer service.
Poor green condition!
Course has a nice layout and is a challenge.
While I understand the greens need maintenance with the sand that was present on them, charging premium price distracts from the experience.
However, it’s the location and there’s plenty of golfers willing to pay the price.
