Hibiscus Golf Club
About
Hibiscus Golf Club is one of the few 18-hole courses in Naples that are open to the public. The course is player enough for beginners and while it may not be what you're looking for if you're in search of a formidable test, it's good for some casual practice for the more advanced player. The layout balances player-friendly, wide fairways with greens that are guarded by strategically placed bunkers. There is a series of lakes and streams throughout the golf course that come into play on nearly every hole. The golf course has seen several improvements since it first opened in 1969, especially after it was badly damaged from a hurricane. More than 200 trees were added as well as 1,200 grasses and shrubs. Hibiscus Golf Club also has a driving range and putting green.

1st visit after Updates
The course was closed for the summer for updates so I was looking forward to what what done.
The pro shop is really nice and has a nice selection of apparel and golf equipment along with a excellent staff. The restaurant & bar is really nice and we had a great lunch & cold draft beer after our round.
The practice range is set up right next to the starter shack and and has a vending machine for range balls.,and a good size putting green so you can warm up & the starter will let you know when you are on deck. All the staff here is friendly and knowledgable and very professional.
The tee boxes were in good shape, we played from the whites @ about 6100 yards. Greens were slow compared to what I am use to and I had a hard time getting the ball to the hole.A few of the greens had just been top dressed so I think they will be getting quicker in the next few weeks. I was expecting the fairways to be in better condition as they were ok and playable but not in the condition I was expecting from only being open a few weeks. Hole #10 no longer has the creek cutting across the fairway and maybe that was done to speed up play but I did not see this as an improvement I liked it better with the creek. #11 is now a par 4 which I thought it always should be and the course is now a par 71.All the bridges and cart paths got upgrades and the new GPS units in the carts are super! Pace of play was excellent. Overall it was an enjoyable round and I look forward to playing here again.
Renovation is big improvement
The tees, fairways, bunkers and greens are much improved since renovations. Greens need to grow in and are bumpy and slow. Rough is still weeds and dirt so need attention. Hope there is a second phase of renovation. Pace of play was under 4 hours, which was great.
I think the course has been open too soon after the new surfacing… not ready
Not great
Really looked forward to playing here after their renovations, but it was pretty disappointing. It’s an old course, tee boxes and fairways were okay but new greens were really fuzzy and not good to putt. New aprons around greens were raised and difficult to putt from just off the surface. I won’t play here until they get things settled down.
Why closed for year
Greenes very slow and rough we played stoneybrook Valencia panther run 1st week December for same 18 hole cost we have played hisbus for over 20 years so we are trying to figure out what they did to double the 18 hole cost a big disappointment
Great rebuild of the Hibiscus Course
This is the first time I played the Hibiscus course since they reopened after redoing it. They did a tremendous job, and the course looks and plays great.
Much improved but still work to be done
Course is ideally located but was in need of lots of improvements which have been done to the bridges, drainage, bunker sand, pathways and sod replacement around the greens. Still need work on all fairways which are weed infected.
A work in progress
I have always enjoyed playing this course and over the last several months they have done a lot of work. While this is still a work in progress the course is very enjoyable to play and the staff and amenities are great. Highly recommend this course.
Top shelf
The improvements are incredible. Grassy fairways, level tee boxes, beautiful sand traps, firm and true greens
Reopening Hibiscus
As the course just reopened on Dec 1, I thought it was very good.. Has really good holes, almost all greens are elevated, so it plays longer than yardage all day.
.Conditions were shaggy, but to b fair, they just opened. Greens rolled at maybe 6 , and fairway lengths much too long, but they’re trying to let the grass grow in, so this should have been expected.
As far as value for your $$, was sensational!
New renovated hibiscus golf course
They've done a good job with the course. Unfortunately the greens are extremely slow and still quite bumpy. This makes your putter almost worthless and easy to three put the greens.
Underwhelmed by the Redo
Course redone, sand traps, t-boxes, fairways, first cut of rough and greens much better but still spotty in places. The rough not redone, same old and in poor condition. Course needs to grow in, greens played 5 on the stimpmeter, very very slow. Underwhelmed by the improvements, expected more given the nice layout. It will take a while before difference in play is meaningful. In the meantime will not likely play this course anytime soon. The value is not there at this time. Good and reasonable priced restaurant and bar. Nice range Recommend these aspects. Staff are very personal and friendly.
The course was not ready to be opened fairways as till needed watering to take hold and greens same thing , they just sanded them but they need to be rolled and cut . Just hope it doesn’t get destroyed because of opening too soon and not enough grooming
Major improvements to all phases of the course.
2 negatives; no water cups.
Not really a critisuxm but there is so much sand in the traps, very difficult to get ball of deep sand.
The crew is great.
Average at best
Staff were all very nice and helpful, however the course left much to be desired. Price to play in south Florida is consistently high just about anywhere you play, when you are paying premium fees to play I think it’s fair to expect above average course conditions. The t boxes were chopped up and the fairways were inconsistent and lacked manicuring. The greens were probably the exception as they were better in comparison to the rest of the course conditions.
