Best course for the money

This course is always in great shape. The price is fair and better than most for a weekend rate. The junk courses in northern md are 10 to 15 more and they don't compare to this course. It's worth the extra 25min ride for me. Most of my friends call this course the best kept secret. It's never too busy and you can get a round in usually under 4hrs.

Nice Layout With Some Challenging Holes

Undulating fairways, greens that undulate even more, tough pin placement on well protected greens, thick primary rough, deep secondary rough, blind shots....you better "Got Game" when you play Pilgrim's Oak. Play "Smart Golf"...use your head with club selection and leave yourself a comfortable approach shot. Course management is key. Know how to play "side-hill lies", because you'll probably encounter some. All-in-all, a challenging course on a great setting. An "eye on the sky" might reward you with a Bald Eagle sighting. "Take It All In" on hole #12 tee box.

A Must Play

A wonderful course. A nice mix of holes. Worth the drive if you are in the area. Some blind shots, so might be a little bit of a challenge the first time you play it. Conditions were excellent; the greens were soft, but rolled true. The club house/snack bar are sparse. But, who cares when the course is so beautiful?

The scenery is spectacular. I finished in less than 3 hours as a single and didn't feel like I rushed it.

A must play.

Challenging greens, stay in the fairways.

Beautiful course that is well maintained. Some tricky blind shots for a first timer and no poles for the markers make the course challenging to get the correct tee shot distance on the blind shots. Stay in the fairway as the rough will chew up your approach shot. The greens were slower than expected but the did burry a couple of elephants underneath them so there is no straight putt. Actually putted once and then my ball can back to me further away than my first putt. Overall enjoyed the course and would love to play again.

The Potential . . .

The Potential was there to make this a great day for golf: new course, links style, bright sun, and a great friend to help with the shots. Paired up with another two-some which can always be concerning, but they were good guys: jovial and kept to the pace of play.
Ah, the "pace of play". On the day I played the pace was molasses slow: We waited on every single hole on the front nine, and not just for the group in front of us to clear away so we could hit, but waiting for the group in front of us to TEE OFF, because they were waiting for the group in front of them to clear away. Every. Single. Hole. on the front 9 was played that way and it took us 3 hours to play 9 holes. Awful, miserable - made the day disappointing. I gave the overall rating a "Fair", but that is only because of the pace of play. This was a very well taken care of course, and easily could have 3 to 4 stars.

Hidden Gem

It was hike to get there but it was well worth it. A terrific bargain for the golfnow special. This course a 2nd shot course. Inviting tee shots to set up small landing areas for approaches. Anything more than 25ft away and it's a challenge to not 3 putt. Challenging and picturesque par 3s from the tips. Greens were receptive and a little on the slow Side but in very good shape. I highly recommend this course

Back nine is a good test of golf

Course was in excellent condition. Pace of play was decent for a Sunday 9:30 tee time 4 hours 5 minutes for an 18 hole round. The pre-made sandwiches were fresh and fairly priced if a notch below the typical fare offered and similarly price courses.

Awesome

I extremely love this course and I would recommend it highly to everyone. It offers a lot of challenges, but the cost is cheap compared to similar courses like it I have played. Looking forward to many more rounds this season!!

A Must Play

Nestled in Amish Country, this course is absolutely beautiful and challenging. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Be prepared for some difficult lies. This course is pretty wide open, but if you stray too far from the fairway, the rough can be difficult to get out of. To me, this is one of the very best in this area and I tell everyone they need to give it a try. If you do, I guarantee you will want to come back

Great Value

I have played this course probably 4 times now, and it is always in great shape. Great value for the money, especially if you can get a Hot Deal. There are a few interesting holes, but overall the course is not too tough and is somewhat forgiving if you have a few wayward drives. Normally, pace of play is not a concern, but on this particular day there was a foursome with several walkers which slowed the pace for several twosomes that were behind, us included. The course staff probably should have paired some of us up to consolidate things a bit. Our 18 hole round took a little over 4 hours.

Overall, I love this course, it is definitely worth the drive and is a great value.

Great course with minor issues

Course is a great value, very picturesque and challenging... wouldn't recommend if you don't like unlevel lies. Greens are very well kept and very undulating with several 2 tier greens....you get on the wrong side of the hole you could be chipping instead of putting your next shot. Not a terribly long course from the whites and the senior tees (yellow) are very short. A few things would be major improvements.... LEVEL THE TEE BOXES !!!!! if you like teeing off with your feet lower than the ball you will like a few of the tees.... also need some spike cleaning brushes on every 3rd or 4th hole. The rough is usually very high with your ball nestling down to the bottom... balls can be very hard to find and it's very hard to advance the ball if the grass is wet. Rough needs to be shorter for the average golfer.
