The stunning fourth. Tricky, strategic and exhilarating. Yet fatal on the left side. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Eight. Bold 3-par of 204. You’ll need a fine tee shot to keep the wolf at the door. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Eleven. Solid tee-to-green test. Hitting and putting this green are the keys. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Thirteen: Wedging into a green pared down to essentials: a frontal bunker, a narrowing surface, then a big backside falloff. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Sixteen. Dr. Hurdzan’s greens resemble those of Donald Ross: crafted, meticulous, well-contoured. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Eighteen. #2 index. Problems galore. As at all par-5’s here, playing the angles well may save you from disaster. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

great
best Course Ive played.............................................................
Great course in excellant condition.
Local knowledge of layout is a definite plus, so pair up if its your first visit.
Best Public Course in Lancaster County
I have the most intense love-hate relationship with this course. I love the immaculately cut fairways and super fast greens. I just hate my inability to go without 3 putting on some of them. There is no other public course in Lancaster County that is as well maintained as this one. This is also one of the most challenging courses in the County. Well, Iron Valley might win out on that one, but you cannot beat this course for the price. My one ever so minor complaint is the lack of a cart path around the entirety of the course. Also, there are plenty of large coolers with bottled water being reasonably priced at 50 cents.
Terrible course management.
The course management scheduled a shotgun start outing for a Saturday morning, and then did absolutely nothing to manage the pace of play of that outing. Turned out to be an almost six hour round.
very nice layout
always in great shape, alot of undulation on greens. reqiures some thought while you work your way around the course. always a good value
Great deal on a good course
Great layout. Both nines challenging but very playable. Use every club in the bag. Front tees are great for beginners while back tees can challenger even the low handicappers.
Awesome course!- slow greens today though.
I love Piligrim's Oak - it's one of my favorites in Lancaster County....too bad it's so far down South in the county. It is always in great condition - exepct yesterday the greens were very hairy (slow). It was really hot out so maybe they are trying to keep the greens alive, which is understandable. But they were definitely the slowest greens I've played this year. Other than that, I love the layout of it and the views are spectacular!
Golf dream!
Pulling into the course you are greeted with nice scenery and a big pond. Game play: this course is great for beginners and is challenging for the more experienced players. The tee boxes are well placed with a chance to drive the ball over grassy field, deep brush, and a big pond that will make you feel like you play professional golf. Fairways are properly maintained for an easy shot to your target. Once your ball reaches the green, your works not done, with hard and soft slopes your either one putt or three putts to the finish. I give pilgrims oak five stars for an overall great experience!
Perfectly maintained
Pilgrims oak was perfect from start to finish. It was perfectly maintained. I caught myself taking pictures of its beauty on multiple holes. I'll definitely return on my next visit to lancaster county!
Lots of ups and downs - hills that is
Beautiful conditions, open layout as long as you stay out of the tall grasses.
Great Hot Deal value!
played long ago and hadn't returned due to an agonizingly slow round. I'm sorry I waited so long. Course was in great shape and fun to play. Set up was difficult due to having hosted a torny, but not unfair. Now that I know the layout, I'm hoping for fewer errant shots and a better score!
Tough greens, beautiful course
Super fast greens with a ton of break! Very difficult to get the ball close to the hole on approach shots.
One of the best courses I've ever played
Best conditioned course in the area. Hands down. Absolutely amazing. Holes are a little long and it tires you out if you're not used to hills or links style but absolutely a blast.
The BEST Course in the area hands down!!
I play MANY different course in the area and so far in 2013, this is the BEST overall course I have played. Everything is in pristine shape and I look at - tee boxes, bunkers, greens, fairways, and ruff. The greens roll true as well. You have to put this course on your list this year to pay, it is worth an hour drive at least to enjoy with your friends.
Great golf
A rolling, open but challenging layout awaits at Pilgrim's Oak. Lots of elevation change from tee to green, but your work is hardly done with a lot of undulation and speed on those greens. An excellent, but fair test of golf
A definite "Player's Course"
Great conditions and excellent pace of play.
Definitely a player's course, as the greens are small, quick, and tricky, the wind is ALWAYS going (it's insane how windy it gets here, even on days where it seems calm everywhere else), and the rough is thick.
There are a handful of holes where if you're not on the fairway, you are scrambling just to make bogey... if you find your ball. I am a so-so player (9 handicap) and I have a tough time shooting in the low 80's on this track, let alone getting into the 70's.
Ironically, those conditions seem to IMPROVE the pace, because bad golfers don't like to play here! I've been randomly paired with people maybe a half dozen times, and only once did I play with hackers.
If you have a tough time hitting the ball straight, you probably won't like this place much (and you better bring a whole box of balls).
But if you're a 10 handicap or so and enjoy getting beaten up once in a while by challenging conditions, you'll love this place.
Great course! A must play.
Great course. Have played here for years & always enjoy it. Elevation changes & greens are very challenging. Greens were rolling beautifully. A gem of a course in the middle of the countryside.
country setting
I play here every now and then. Not great, but okay
One of my favorite courses
Speedy greens, some false fronts and apron runoffs, elevation changes. Lots of variety to the layout.
Teebox choices provide the level of challenge you want. Don't go too far back the first time!
you must play here if you love golf
Played here on 4/17.. Have been coming here for years and its always a treat.. While its in the middle of nowhere in farm country its worth the drive.. As another rater said,,,if this course was located in civilization... it would be at least twice the price to play.
You will hit every club in the bag on this course... The greens were bumpy on this day but much had to do with the time of year In season they will normally roll smoother. The rest of the course was in fine shape. You will face 2 incredible par 3's on this course.. The par 3 12th is 190yd shot over water and stone barrier that is as tough a shot as you will find. The downhill 188yd 8th hole over a pond is another heroic shot. Each 9 ends with a great par 5. The 18th has water everywhere and is a truly memorable finisher. I got a 10 dollar rate rate to play here last week too from golfnow .com also.
Sir,
I am the Director of Golf at Pilgrims Oak Golf Course and I can assure you that we did everything in our power to try to keep the pace of play up on Saturday. We had two rangers consistently monitoring groups and unfortunately there is little you can do when people are slow players. I apologize for the excessively long round of golf(although I doubt it was 6 hours) and hope that you will give Pilgrim's Oak another opportunity in the future. Thank you.
