About
When Timberlane Golf & Recreation opened in 1959 as Timerlane Country Club, it was the first private golf club on the west bank of the Mississippi. The oaks planted at that time have beautifully matured, adding to both the scenery and difficulty of the golf course. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course, crafting a challenging test that has been ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in the country. You'll have to contend with 80 strategically placed sand bunkers and 17 different water hazards. While the course is not overly punishing, you'll have to be prepared to have every aspect of your game tested. Before tackling Timberlane''s golf course you may find it helpful to warm up using the club's all-grass driving range and you can use the large putting green to practice with putting, chipping, and sand play.

Keeps getting better, tee boxes improved. Greens were firm but still true.

Timberlane New Orleans
I hadn’t played here in 15+ years. I was glad I came back. Very nice course. Tight but not overly so. A different feel from front to back 9s. Greens were lush. Very happy I played today. Excellent value.
Timberlane Today
The course was in great shape except for the down trees branches and cluster of leaves along the edges of the fairway from the previous storm which was not Timberlane’s fault.
Golf Today
The course was in good condition today except for a little wind with the front coming in.
The first rough appears to have been cut down some to make it easier to find your golf ball.
I just Learned about the Bluetooth off of your phone for music. I’ll remember that the next time. I also heard that GPS will be installed on the Golf Carts in the near future.
5-somes = Slow play
The only real issue was the large groups. There were (3) 5-somes that we’re on the 3 holes ahead of us. They backed everyone up from the 3rd hole through the 18th. You couldn’t play through, and there was no marshal to monitor speed of play. At least it was a beautiful day to be outside! And I almost made a hole-in-one on 17.

Course Was Water Logged
I guess there was a passing storm the night before but the course was in poor condition. It was so wet that I was losing balls in the fairway. Overall course needs some improvements made.

Stunningly Beautiful Course
Had a great time playing this course, greens was a little slow due to lots of rain and rough was high but I would play here again upon my return.
On the Mend
Not my first review of this course... Took some time off from playing here, hadn't played there in 10 months. It was too hit and miss. Played this week, and it's more hit than miss. New management company running the operation. They have some good employees there; very nice people. The course is a work in progress. Last time I played the greens were a mess and they were redoing bunkers. Greens still have some spots, but it is obvious some work has gone into them. It's been an affordable course for some time now, but the value didn't overcome the bad course itself. I think the value is pretty good and improving. Looking forward to my next round there now.
