Good value to play at least once
Decent course with greens and fairways in good condition. Loved that no one was in front or behind us and the starter let us out early so we were able to play 18 in under 3 hours. The course layout is a bit confusing with limited signage (there are 19 holes). Definitely recommend getting a cart, was very hilly. Overall a good course to play once for the value, but there are nicer courses in the area.
Great value and nice coarse - don’t agree with other reviews
I’ve been coming here for a few weeks now and don’t understand the negative reviews. The greens, tee box’s and tee boxes are well maintained. I love playing here. It’s great value and not too far out from SD. I would def recommend to play here.
Tee markers are very confusing and hard to follow! Two separate #4 tee boxes. Directions to next tee box really needs to be up dated. We and several other players were driving around just to find the next tee box. ADD MORE DIRECTION SIGNS!! NO SIGN FROM PARKING LOT TO FIRST TEE. Called to verify tee time and was told cart fee was $25. When we checked in the young girl said she had miss quoted me on phone and the weekend cart fee is $30. She called her manager and he said to charge us $30. Very poor public relations and not admitting they had made a mistake!!
Getting hotter so the ball is now holding the fairwayw
The heat dome is making the ball really roll. There are many blind shots with heavily sloped fairways. We had a few shots that seemed perfectly played off the tee that we could never find. The course simply would not slow the ball down and the steep slopes on many of the fairways don't help.
That said, we found as many balls as we lost and just kept chugging away.
I would not walk this course this summer, but bring a gallon of water if you do. I still went thru 54 oz of water from the cart (and got 10000 steps). Drank another 64 oz when I got home.
Stay safe, stay hydrated and have fun. Haven't seen any rattle snakes, either.
Not a good experience
It’s a shame, this course has potential, but it needs a lot of love. Apart from being poorly marked (we gave up when we couldn’t find the 13th hole), the fairways are in terrible condition. The greens are okay, but there were a lot of unrepaired ball marks, especially on the par threes. Overall, it was a pretty crappy golf outing, and we won’t be going back with so many other courses to play around here.
Target Golf Only
Greens in decent shape, tee boxes not, nor are fairways. Course was good before they sold 9 holes to Residential Home Developer. Owner obviously does not have the $$$ to do better which is too bad as location and topography are made for much better. Would favor Castle Creek which is nearby over this and the Welk Exec Course is far superior to both.
Some fun holes / limited amenities
No water in any water coolers to refill your bottle. No beverage cart either. Course has some fun holes. Some fairways need a little TLC more than others. The greens were decent.
Beginners course
The first 4 holes are as ugly as they can be, t boxes not level, holes and divots, hard to find a place for your T. Fairways are trash, overgrowth left and right, they really need a groundskeeper on staff all day. I feel bad for the home owners having to see neglect on potentially a beautiful course. I would play again fo 20 bucks and bring a weed eater to help clear a passageway. Staff was great, bar tender was great even had a great drink special, food looked great. I wish I lived closer to volunteer to help with maintenance on the grounds.
It's going to brown out soon - play now
We sent out this week before the weather starts to really warm up. The course really greened up with all of the winter and spring rains.
There are a few blind tee shots and quite a bit of elevation change. It meanders through a neighborhood and there is considerable walking between a few holes.
Walking this course will be a challenge once the temps start breaking 80 regularly. Of course, the grass will also start to wither and make this course less playable.
It';s still in good shape now, though, and is a lot of fun.
They charge $25 for a cart.
Pay to Play
I truly am disappointed in this course. The conditions were not optimal, although the greens were in good condition. The course isn’t well marked making for confusion from hole to hole. The markings had you drive in circles. Finding the first tee without signage was even difficult. The cart paths were a combination of cement, gravel and dirt. A lot of gopher holes so watch your ballls.
Needs total renovation
Fairways and rough are in dire need of renovations…tee boxes are barren and full of divots…greens are good… layout is interesting and would be much more enjoyable if the golf course was in proper condition…
Best conditions right now.
Hurry, Best conditions for this Course in years. Offers a good challenge. Most fairways slope to right., Tee boxes weak link. Greens have some fungus spots but rolling true. slightly slow. Do not miss the sensational views on back 9.
Tough Day
First of all, the staff were great especially the cart guy, super guy! Unfortunately the facilities along with a heavy mist the night before made for a wet, frustrating experience.
The cart was nice and pace of play was excellent, the fairways were decent and some of the greens exceptional but tee boxes and yardage were my biggest concern. Do not play this without a range finder, as it’s quite hilly and tee’s we’re all over the place which made yardage very difficult. Several holes look blind from the cart yet once on the tee you’ll have a better view. They could do amazing things with just going over the signage and adding little tips here and there to assist in strategy. GPS would be amazing but I understand the cost associated with it. Someone needs to take a look at the course with no blinders on and make adjustments for guest experience. There were some good holes and generally in fairly good shape.
Overall, my son who lives in downtown San Diego and I met for a round of golf and honestly golfing with him and spending time together couldn’t be disrupted of a special time yet this course has potential if someone takes the time to for some TLC!
I thought I had a cheap round!
So I booked a golf now hot deal at Boulder Oaks for like $14 but if you add the $3.50 fee and the $25 cart fee, it came to like a $.50 savings over their normal price so maybe a lukewarm deal or a plain cold deal. I did, however, enjoy my round. I played by myself and played pretty well. The course, as far as the fairways greens is reasonably maintained, but the perimeter’s are wild! I mean it is very natural and lots of birds and animals cruising around. Which is kind of cool. But when it gets to be 100° out there and that stuff all dies. It’s going to be pretty ugly. Anyway, I would say for the next month, especially if our weather continues to stay cool, it should be fun. I would love to have walked but there’s too much up and down and distance between tee and green in some holes is hundreds of yards. Anyway, I’d play it again in the next month. Maybe try and walk the front nine for $15 hot deal.
No golf cart included
Wasn’t a bad course. It was fun, but paying more to rent a golf cart than the tee time was weird. I’ll still come back.
