El Rio
I was pleasantly surprised on how good of condition the course was in. It was cart path only 'which needs help', but I don't play a course because it has a good or bad cart paths. I've played other courses for twice the price that weren't even close to as good of condition. I would definitely play this course again.
Needs better care
Cart paths in very rough shape. Needs a lot of work.
Fairways & greens were OK.

Snack bar down, no beverage carts on course, grass not cut due to over seeding.
Old style course near downtown Tucson
One of the oldest courses in the Tucson area.
Pace of paly was pretty good.
Course was in pretty good shape considering they are getting ready for the winter over seeding.
Tree lined and you can pretty much hit it anywhere and find your ball which is not usually the case with courses in the desert.
Driving range on the small size and more than easy to hit it over the end of the range and on to the course into 9 tee and fairway with a driver, even as high as the nets are, so be careful.
Worth playing if you can get a reasonable price.

This is the best shape I have ever seen El Rio! Might have just been the rain we have been getting, either way it was in great shape.

Good Beginners Course!
Been taking my 14yr old son here to play a couple of times now, we enjoy the easy layout of course, hard to lose balls here ( unless water hazard or out of course). Our first time there, greens were hard and fast, fairways well all dried up hardly no green color, we came back to course after several weeks and course got better due to the rain we had. But, in most cases that we played here, course staff not so cool- first time, asked us to stop playing due to the sprinklers were being turn on, plenty of daylight left, other times asked us to bring cart in by 7pm, no other city course we played have done this only here! so you are left to finish course walking.
Rough condition
Course a lot greener due to heavy rains than a few weeks ago when it was browning out terribly. Greens however are horrible and ragged. Stimping at about 6 and this is not due to spiking but normal condition. If you can get out cheap its still worth it since its a fun course with lots of shade trees for the heat.
El Rio is awesome
I play here at least 2 or 3 times a week and every time it's great, the staff is awesome and no matter what is needed they help you out right there and fast.
Great Course
The staff are always friendly, the price is affordable and the course is taken care of.
