Chula Vista Golf Course

Love the greens. Very obvious 99% of the maintenance money goes toward the greens. Fairways are in mostly poor conditions. Pace of play was infuriating because we were stuck behind 2 fivesomes playing the wrong tees for their skill level. Used to play this course a lot many years ago. They never used to let fivesomes out after 7 am. But American Golf has always been about the money, not the experience. As long as you go in knowing that, the course is fun to play.

golf now charged me for three when i hit two on the pre paid rate?? so i ate that... took us over three hours for nine holes extremely frutrating as no marshall was seen

To be fair, I’ve never actually played the course. It may be amazing and my rating is useless, but when I pulled into the parking lot there were guys standing on the back of moving carts drinking beers and one pulled right in front my car. Couldn’t find a parking spot and there were tons of people all over the place. Was looking for a quick quiet round, so I just left and went to my local driving range. I’ll try to play here again, but it was a madhouse.

The City of Chula Vista should be ashamed to own/run this flat course in such a lousy condition. Tee boxes were a disaster in all respects. Not one fairway was void of bare spots, mud, and standing water. Greens were bumpy and uneven for speed. Cart paths were full of water and mud up to the hubcaps. Cart charge is an outrageous $15 per person, making them the HIGHEST in the county. The practice putting green is a sloping joke. It would not be a loss to see this course converted into low income housing.

A wonderful municipal course with conditions improving daily. I try to replace every divot and tend to anything I may do on the course, the staff is freindly and is taking care of the course. If everyone tends to divots this place will be amazing soon. The problem is pace of play, can not say why the pace has been so bad but it has.

Greens weren't bad but the fairways are penalizing because of so much dirt

Pace of play is way too slow and there is no one to let the slow players know to speed it up.

This as been a problem for some time with this course.

I like to play here but sometimes I just leave in the middle because the pace is sooo slow!

Greens are in great shape, honestly better than some courses that are twice as much money to play.

Layout is good, fair and pretty open course.

Pace of play is awful though, fivesomes with elderly golfers, not the fastest of players.

I guess I need to play it on a weekday for a faster round.

Overall it’s a good course

For all who gave it a one star, I get it! I was charged 39.00 to walk, way to much for the conditions the course was in. Shut it down give the course a chance to recover from the constant play. On two of the fairways you could see damage from some knuckle head doing doughnuts! No reward for hitting fairways because of hard pan, you want turf under your ball hit in the ruff!!!

The groundskeepers were watering a couple of greens when we were playing, it was a bit distracting.

This course has a good, challenging layout but the fairways are terrible! Hole 3 was in horrible shape because there was a big puddle of water in the middle of the fairway! It hasn’t rained in over a month, so how did this puddle of water show up in the middle of the fairway? A lot of dirt in the middle of the fairways. However, the greens were in decent shape. I chose to recommend this course because it is very inexpensive compared to other courses in the area. But you get what you pay for. If someone can inject some much needed funding to maintain the course, especially the fairways, this would turn into a nice track!
