Chula Vista Golf Course

For all who gave it a one star, I get it! I was charged 39.00 to walk, way to much for the conditions the course was in. Shut it down give the course a chance to recover from the constant play. On two of the fairways you could see damage from some knuckle head doing doughnuts! No reward for hitting fairways because of hard pan, you want turf under your ball hit in the ruff!!!

The groundskeepers were watering a couple of greens when we were playing, it was a bit distracting.

This course has a good, challenging layout but the fairways are terrible! Hole 3 was in horrible shape because there was a big puddle of water in the middle of the fairway! It hasn’t rained in over a month, so how did this puddle of water show up in the middle of the fairway? A lot of dirt in the middle of the fairways. However, the greens were in decent shape. I chose to recommend this course because it is very inexpensive compared to other courses in the area. But you get what you pay for. If someone can inject some much needed funding to maintain the course, especially the fairways, this would turn into a nice track!

Course is in very poor condition everywhere except for the greens. Staff was friendly but pace of play was slow and no matter where you hit the fairway you weren’t met with a decent patch of grass. Won’t be coming back here.

Played here on Vereran’s day. The course is nice and long. But 80% of the course is mud and dead grass, it’s not right to hit a bomb down the middle to hit out of hard mud. I guess it’s good for practice, greens are well maintained but the rest is trash. The cart girls are the best I’ve seen in SD. 2 stars for me.

Course undergoing significant work which adversely affected play

This is a beautiful piece of property for a golf course and that’s where the beauty ends. The course is in terrible shape. It’s almost like the entire maintenance crew has decided to go on strike. I could barely find any fairway grass, it was all dirt and mud with huge roped off areas of “ground under repair” on every hole. My mantra of the day was, “so much wasted potential “. The course is well designed and the holes are interesting to play but it was next to impossible to find any fairway grass to hit an approach shot from. The greens had been recently punched and sanded so I know someone is trying to make things better, but this course really needs some TLC.

This place just keeps getting worse, saw they had been trying to fix up the course so thought I’d go see how it’s going. The fairways are so spotty you’re lucky to have a good lie anywhere on the course, the greens have dead spots all around them and the tee boxes need a lot of love, even worse they put new sod on the second fairway and it looks like it’s dying already from not being watered, brown and crunchy, save your money and go down the road to Bonita golf course

Having grown up across the street from this municipal course, I have seen it in it's best and worse shapes. The course currently is undergoing allot of fairway repairs and planting of new grass. Tee boxes and greens are in great shape but for the time being the fairways are frustrating.

Not a bad day at Chula.

That beings said, there is a lot of room for improvement.

Definitely the absolute worst course I’ve played in San Diego. The fairways (if you wanna call them that) are so beat up that you have to move your ball on just about every shot in the fairway to get it out of dirt, mud, holes, etc. We waited to hit on just about every shot with a three group wait on some tee boxes. We managed to stick it out, though, and played a 5 1/2 hour round. I could go on but what more do you need to know. Wouldn’t play this course again even if it was free. Don’t waste your time or money.

It wasn't what I expected. Recent reviews said course in good condition however the only part of the course in good conditions were the greens. . Bare area's on every fairway. Despite that I enjoyed the round and playing a course I haven't played before.

Best part of course is the greens fairways are beat but if you play preferred lies to allow your self to hit off grass nearest to ball in fairways instead of playing on dirt you can still have a great time
