Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake

The course is not in good shape. The greens are decent, but several fairways have bare spots and weeds. The bunkers are compacted, and even the golf carts are in disrepair with windshields removed on all carts. The course charges a San Diego Co rate, but neither it nor the non-San Diego Co. resident rate ($150 on the weekend) are worth it.

Every hole had significant irrigation saturation issues. The rough was not maintained, and it was quite apparent that due to the irregularities in the irrigation, there were a lot of burned out areas. The greens were managed well. The sand traps had significant amounts of rocks in them. Apparently they’re using a low quality product to line the sand traps. I was charged a $40 resident card fee as well. So, apparently they’re not using that money towards the maintenance of the course. They really need to get their act together with the irrigation system.

Conditions very good throughout. Could have used a marshall to move along a slow group in front of us.

I live nearby, golf several times a week, and have played most courses in San Diego. None of them treat customers the way this place does.

The last straw: checked in solo on a quiet Tuesday and got paired with a dad and two kids. The kids were well behaved, but they were clearly beginners who struggled to advance the ball, and nobody had taught them basic etiquette. Both would take multiple swings and leave bunkers a mess, and the dad said nothing. It's an awkward spot to be in as a stranger, since it's not my place to coach someone else's kids. Two groups played through us by the 5th hole. The course had plenty of open tee times that day and could have paired me differently. They just didn't care.

I called it after 9 and let the pro shop know. Their response? "It's a prepaid tee time, nothing we can do." When I pointed out to Nick, the head pro, that the customer experience is entirely within their control, I got a smug "I'll take that under advisement."

Management needs to do better. You're losing customers over pure indifference, and it shows. The course is fine. The people running it are the problem.

The fairways were atrocious. Weeds and dirt patches everywhere. Greens were spongy and inconsistent. It’s was a disappointment for what their green fees are. I’ve played the course when it was in better shape and the edges of the bunkers were uncared for. They seem to have lost their attention to basic details. I don’t see myself playing there again anytime soon.

A great place to play. From 1-18, each hole has its own character. If you’ve never played this track, it’ll be a great treat to play it

I’ve played this course many times over the past 8 years and have been very critical following rounds when the course was in subpar condition, but I have to give credit, they are getting it right. They seem to have corrected the problem that made them lose the greens every year, I was skeptical of the “ ID card “ idea but now understand and appreciate how it makes the course very affordable. Though I still hate all the roped off areas, I like the changes and improvements to the layout. Pace of play wasn’t great for a Tuesday round but it happens… overall they are doing a good job.

All around great conditions. Cart gives warning before locking out to force a reverse action.
