Great course , fairways need works.greens are in very good condition. Chula Vista is one of the toughest courses in the south bay.
loveable muni
what more can you say - they are trying, but too many rounds and too many hacks like me = best value in town for little grass and a longish round
Great greens, bad fairways & rough.
It was 37 degrees when we teed offf on 11/27 at 6:30 AM adn there was a lot of FROST in San Diego!!!. No wind so not as tough as it can be. We rolled the balll everywhere on the cours as the conditions are rough at best. However, the greens are great. It is an amazing contrast between the greens and other spots.

Pace of play is ridiculous, looking at playing a 6 hour round and course is in terrible shape. Greens are ok but fairways are non existent. Won't be back

Beautiful day for golg
My son was visting from Chicago and we had a great time. The course was a bit more challenging than expected, but kept us focused. The staff was friendly and helpful. Defintiely will go back.

Good greens for a muni, terrible fairways
4 stars based primarily on the value for the money. If you don't mind bumping your ball in the fairway (due to the fact that large areas of most fairways have no grass), then this is a great deal. The greens were very good for the price, not bumpy at all. Pace of play was terrible, so make sure to play as a foursome.
Priced right
Even though the fairways are always in need of maintenance you can usually find a decent surface to hit from. The sand traps are excellent!
Pin position
Normally, red on the front, white on the middle and blue on the back of the green. I found some pins were mis-positioned on my last two rounds.
improving
We all know what this course is and for all the play it gets, it is getting better, at least the greens are, bare fairways and tee boxes are the norm.
Value
$12 hot deal. Greens were absolutely fine. Course was quiet. Tee boxes were ok enough..Fairways are patchy, but about 50% of them are good enough. Overall for the price it was good value & we enjoyed our round.

The green is coming along- keep it up
The fairways need a lot of work, you rolling a dice if your tee shot will find a grassy areas.
There is no difference between the rough and fairway.
