Chula Vista Golf Course

Maddeningly slow for a Sunday afternoon. We had a 2:15pm tee time and ended up leaving the course on the 12th hole because we had already been there for five hours. It was packed and slow and frustrating.

Nice layout, conditions generally are OK. Great value.

For the amount of play this muni sees, the course was in good condition and is surprisingly challenging. Fun time.

This course is a good value if you can play for $25 during the week or $30 on the weekend (with).

I will be back numerous times this summer. Staff was great. Great course for all levels

Too many greens under maintenance and no mention of that by the staff.

Driving range, putting green and clubhouse all were poor. Staff was very friendly and even got us out early. The front nine was fairly good but the back nine seemed to be all jammed together and we had to keep our eyes open for incoming balls. Not great shape and the greens were partially aerated. Muni course that does the best they can with the financial retraints.

Long, challenging course and in decent shape. The only negative was that the greens were being aerated (didn't know before hand), but then that's expected at times anywhere you play. Overall, course was in decent shape. Fun and challenging.

This is a slightly above average course. The condition is fine. The length is reasonable. The wind and a creek makes it a bit difficult, but there is are lots of places to bail out.

The price was pretty reasonable.

It's great to have a course that accepts single tee times and works you in with others. Other courses just ask you to "show up" and we will work you in, but that isn't desirable especially on a schedule. I would play this course over others in the area for this one reason to be able to book a single tee time.

Greens were in execellent condition. Fairways were is realy good condition even though we have has several days of frost that has hurt the grass. Pace of play was also great, We waited about 2 min. on the first 3 tees after that we went fast.

Course was well maintained. Greens were really good. Pace of play was really slow. 2.5 hours for first nine. Only sped up for last 4 holes to keep it under 5 hours. Good value with GolfNow.

Fairways and rough in tough shape with bare patches and poor lies. Bunkers poor and players tend not to rake footprints. Waited over every shot.

Played on a Sunday morning so I guess the pace of play might have been normal. But for me, anything over 5 hours is very frustrating and this was over 5 and a half. I enjoyed the layout a lot, but course condition was very poor - locals I played with said they got a lot of winter damage. That being said the greens were fast and true - very nice. Practice range was limited to irons only.

Course was not kept up but was acceptable. The issue we had was the weight time they had batches of 2somes and 4somes so it ended up causing a backlog. Poor planning on their reservation times. So if you don't mind hanging out and waiting this course might be good for you

I thought this course was great, considering that it's a municiple course. Not what I was expecting. The pace was uneven. I was able to finish in 4hrs, but the groups in front of me were walkers and older gentlemen. I couldn't maintain a rhythm with my round. With that said, I will visit this course again with an earlier tee time and during the week.

Course was very dry and pace of play extremely slow. They also need a marshall out on the course, not at the 9t hole trying to gather donations and enter you into a raffle.

Greens are a tad fast

the fairways needs lots attention and the drop area are not available in holes #3, 4, and 9

I didn't think my son and I would be able to play on New Years day because of the high prices at most courses, but the rate at Chula Vista was way below all the other places we looked. And it wasn't too crowded. No waits on any hole. A great day. Thanks.

Our tee time was scheduled for 8:37 and we did not tee off until after 9:00. I originally booked the tee time for two of us fully understanding that this was a municipal golf course, on the weekend, in a busy metropolitan area. All-in-all, I knew we were not going to play in four hours. However, I did not expect the round to take in excess of six hours either. We were informed that there was a marshall on duty but did not see him until the 17th hole when he politely offered us water. While the kind gesture certainly did not go unnoticed, pace of play appeared to be the last thing on his mind.

Again, I understand that this was a municipal golf course and while the layout had the potential to be extremely fun, six hours took very much of the enjoyment out of our round.

As a side note, the gentleman in the restaurant that served us breakfast was most congenial and seemed genuinely interested in making sure that our experience was an enjoyable one. Kudos to him for a job well done!

Not sure that I will be back.
