Lakes/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course
About
There are 27 holes of championship golf at Blacklake Golf Resort, allowing golfers to mix and match to suit their preference and skill level. The holes are divided into three nines: the Canyons, Oaks, and Lakes, that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. Located on the Nipomo Mesa along California's Central Coast, each nine takes its name from the rugged landscape. The Lakes/Canyon combination strikes a good balance between being challenging and player friendly. The front nine is more player friendly, starting off with a confidence-boosting par 3 and with fairways that are wide and forgiving. It's rather long, though, and therefore not to be underestimated. The back nine tumbles across undulating terrain, incorporating elevated tee boxes that overlook the lush fairways below. The various vistas and valleys invite refreshing sea breezes to keep you cool.

Needs some TLC
Had to wait for cart #17 (Large Tournament finishing). Parking Brake did not work which was irritating on hills, (Law suit waiting to happen). Lakes were dry. Several greens were distressed. Mowing on fairways was very poor. Good layout, too bad it's in such poor condition. Compare to City Muni's. Pace of play good. Would have been quite upset if paid full Green Fee (Hot Deal). Sorry Black Lake, it was better the last time we played there.
surprising golf
It seems that the oak canyon (9 holes) gives the most interesting and challenging golf while the Lakes (back 9) are more conceiving and relaxing. Overall a good experience to be there with my family and enjoy a good afternoon.
Black Lakes
We really enjoy the variety of courses, the course is in OK shape considering the drought, we always have fun there
Sad condition
The staff was ok however had some free play coupons would not honor them . Next we reserved canyon and lakes but was put on lakes and oaks , bath room was dirty no paper lakes were dry greens were blotchy I've been a resident of A/ G for 16 yrs played black lake many times sad to see it in such poor condition marshaling was well there was none took 6 hrs to play .
Barely worth $17.00
It's painful to play this course when the tee boxes are so bad and fairways not far behind ...with all the nice courses nearby it's just weird that they can't take care of it ....it will cypress and monarch for us...9 hole in pismo is in better shape .....
Beautiful Course
The course overall is great, but since we are in a drought right now, they have had to let certain things go, suck as the grass on the driving range and some of the greens have dead patches of grass. Beware of the poison oak at the edges of most fairways along the "Oaks" course and a few of the "Canyons" fairways, if you lose a ball, consider it gone or risk getting a terrible case of poison oak. Other than that the course is great, quite technical in many areas and a lot of fun!
Friendly staff.
We had a good time. Staff is friendly and helpful. Course needs some attention. Some greens and tee boxes are in pretty rough shape.
July 4th golf
I have been playing this course for 15 years. It is in good condition and getting better. The greens are in better than average condition. The pace of play for any day was great but for a holiday was excellent. I teed of at 9:00 and after the second hole had no one pushing us or holding us up.
nicely laid out
will be back & probably stay overnight .................
friendly atmosphere..lots of poison oaks
Fun at Blacklake
Super fast play on a challenging course. Play all 27 holes for a terrific day of golf
time to trim tree branches.
The old lines of trees on the lake course are in desparate need of a good trim. They act line curtains drawn to protect the greens.
This coarse has interesting features that iit does.
I really enjoyed my game. It had been awhile since we have golfed there. Weather was great not being rushed. Great golf !!!!!! no pressure. Thanks
The price was right
The fairways and rough are in bad shape. There are a lot of bare or barely covered with grass areas. The greens are in excellent condition.
RETURNING COURSE
For a while this course was a mess, it is under new management and is returning to its former glory.
If you happen to be in the area...
This course is made up of three nine holes - The Lakes, the Oaks and the Canyon.
We played the Lakes on the front nine and the Oaks on the back...
The Lakes course is pretty wide open so easy to recover any stray shots while the Oaks has tighter fairways on some holes. Greens were well maintained. Our cart started dying around the 16th hole; had to push the cart from the 18th green back to the cart shed... LOL!
Enjoyed the Oaks better than the Lakes. Would consider going back to play the Canyon course.
great condition
excellent condition, greens are fast but hold. Need to call before ordering on golf now because your not always playing the course you may have paid for.
Mt favorite course
Having three sets of 9 holes is great. Just started golfing again 3 months ago and this is by far my favorite course. The staff is very accommodating and friendly.
the course
I have played black lake many times and the course was always in good shape, this time we went the course was not bad, but not good, and really it was just some of there tee boxes was sand and dirt very little grass patches, but over all I would play there again as the lay out of the course is very nice
Awesome greens, but that is where it ends
The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Black Lakes has 3 9 hole tracks: Canyon, Oaks and Lakes. We played all 3 tracks, The layout of the tracks was fun and most of the holes had something interesting about them. The greens where tight and fast and ran very true. The fairways, tee boxes and rough, unfortunately, where in horrible condition. I would not go back to play because the amount of money they charged versus the condition of the course is improper. I expected a relatively manicured golf course and was disappointed to say the least. I would only play this course again if the green fees where around $20-$25.
Challenging
The coarse was littlered with twigs, probably due to high wind. The Oaks coarse has narrow fairways and fast slopped greens. At least they don't have a lot of sand traps.
