Lakes/Oaks at Blacklake Golf Course
About
Situated along California's Central Coast atop the Nipomo Mesa, Blacklake Golf Resort offers three different nines, each named after the different attributes of the beautiful landscape. The nines can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. Players of all skill levels will be able to find a golf course that suits them. The Lakes/Oaks Course begins with the most player friendly of the three nines. Though as the name implies, water does come into play but the fairways are wide and forgiving. The opening par-3 hole gives you a confident start but the length keeps it from being a pushover. The Oaks nine features narrower fairways that wind through groves of coastal oak trees. It is a more target-style layout where you may find yourself in the woods if you're not paying attention.

Men's Club welcoming?
Men's Club most unwelcoming - hostile and rude!!!
Starter put us out on the Lakes cours in the middle of the Monday Men's Club outing. Challenged on the tee box by a bunch of the local yahoos who said we were on the wrong course and got up in our face, very ugly scene. Starter did nothing to defuse the situation. Quit after nine, and most likely will not return as there are lot's of other courses in the area where I can spend my time and money.
do not expect to much
Rerouted upon check-in. Approached first hole and asked starter where are the pins located 1,2 or 3 position per diagram. Starter responded see the flag that is where they are, a real smart mouth. The group had two carts to start, one cart died on 6th hole and we had to walk two holes before we got another cart from clubhouse. Second cart of group died on 11th hole. Might as well walk because you do not get what you paid for!!! I would think twice before booking unless you like to pack up and repack your equipment-some song&dance about batteries.
This course has great features
Course is in good condition and very nice to play. One of the better courses on the central coast when in good condition as it"s been lately. Definitely recommend this course to play.
Great value for coastal golf
Good course. 3 nine hole sections keep it interesting. As with all coast courses the wind always comes into play later in the day. Never disappoints.
Good, fast greens but fairways not in great condition
We would definitely not pay the full course price of $57 - The Oaks is not a good nine, Canyon and Lakes are better. Staff very friendly. Food and beverages are outrageously expensive. We thought $15 for a wine with soda and a Vodka was far too much.
Easy but fun course
My friend and I played as a twosome and were held up a little on the first nine by a fairly slow foursome but the marshall kept play going fairly well. We both set personal records for scores, and I myself have only been playing for a little over a year. For the price this course was in great shape considering its the middle of March and we are at record low rainfall. I highly recommend this course for a fun and decently easy day on the links
value plus
Fairways a little dry and sparse but everything else was great
very good value
On Arrival was greeted by the staff immediately and asked if we minded playing a different nine than we were scheduled for of the three nines that are present at the course. A morning tournament was running long and said we could go immediately. Appreciated their consideration. The group that was on the tee insisted that we go first as they were employees of the course. The greens keeper that we met was very friendly. Pace was good all day . Value was great with GN. Would recommend highly.
The grass is overgrown
The course isn't maintained very well. The fairways and rough are extremely bumpy. I think it's worth about half of what there charging. I do like the structure of most of the holes though, pretty interesting.
We played the Oaks and Lakes.
As a local and Infinite member I have to say the course is in great shape. Now under new management and they are doing a lot of good work on the course. Great place to play!!
Good time for all
We (foursome) enjoyed the course. We were fortunate to have a player with us who had played the course previously. Narrow fairways in very good condition. There are quite a few hidden hazards that if you hadn't played the course previously would have made the course very challenging. None of scored as well as we were hoping, but a good time for all. The pins were placed in challenging positions but were in very good shape for this time of the year.
Will play again
We enjoyed our day ... The Oaks Course has some pig damage. I enjoyed it overall and will play it again.
Greens held beautifully
Course in great shape except for the tee boxes in very poor shape
Great Fall Day on Blacklake Golf Course
We had a nice Fall round at Blacklake Golf Course. The BBQ had one of the best hot dogs at a course anywhere with grilled peppers and onions. The only complaint is the starter made our group feel like we were cheap for using the GolfNow advanced reservations. Interesting...
greens were great, yellow tees on lakes course good for short hitters
we always play here when visiting as it is very close
Black Lake Review (10/12/13)
I haven't played BlackLake, in about 4 years, and the overall condition is good quickly moving back towards "pristine". I was glad to discover that this course has gone to being run by an outside management company. The company is really getting BlackLake back to it's original pristine conditions.
If you are visiting or live on the Central Coast of California, do yourself a favor and try out BlackLake..
Great course and fun to play....its difficulty level is more for begginner to moderate. If you are a professional this would not be too challenging.
Lots of open fairways to practice your drives, and the greens are a little tough to read and makes for a good challenge
A Good Value for Central Coast Golf
There are nicer courses on the Central Coast of CA but playing here for $35 each is a good value. The course is well maintained. Kevin in the Clubhouse is always very congenial and helpful. The driving range has been allowed to dry up and become an eyesore but driving ranges are not usually something beautiful.
Great course for the price.
I recommend this course only when using a discount tee time website.(GolfNow, groupon etc). The pace of play was great on the front 9(The Canyon) however it slowed considerably on the back 9(The Oaks). The only real complaint is there were several greens that were completely covered in leaves and acorns ! Really? Automatic two-putt? Overall this was a fun course for the price.
Tree lined fairways dictate some accuracy off the tee on a number of holes. Some pretty topography. Putting surfaces were best turf attribute.
Played all 3 nine's over two consecutive days. Played in late morning and in late afternoon, pace of play very good both days. Pro shop staff very friendly and accommodating. Fairway turf is mix of grasses and somewhat thin in spots (a dry late summer) but provided for reasonable lies. Rough will not eat you up, however some very mature and strategically placed trees provide challenge. Greens rolled true but not overly quick, however pin placements were testy. All in all, my internet price provided a very good value for the experience.
