River Falls Plantation
About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

Just finished, looking back down 18 Photo submitted by u702760800 on 12/07/2019
This is a well designed course.
This was my first experience with Golf Now.com and I will say it will not be my last. They sent me all the documentation necessary to just walk up to the pro shop tell them who I was, pay and we were off. The only thing that might be better would be if you had the option to pay for the round when you booked it. Then you would just give them the receipt.
course
Very nice course, needs just a little TLC, especially carts paths.
I Got Played
As a course with Gary Player's name on it, I expected a lot and was more than underwelmed. The course is in terrible shape, grass growing wildly everywhere and not by design. Driving over a land mine would be an improvement over the cart paths Plenty of gimmicky holes plus you need your own sherpa to find your tee box at times. Obviously whoever was sinking money into this course stopped, awhile ago.
Don't let the name play you.
Course needs help
The facilities were beautiful here. The course had a lot of rain and surprisingly, it was not cart path only. I saw LOTS of tire gauges in the fairways.
There were 8 VERY SLOW foursomes in front of us, none asked us if we wanted to play through, despite the fact that we were just two people. I was told this was not normal but there were people leaving the course because it was so slow. There was no marshall to speed play up.
This course has potential, but it needs to be better controlled/maintained.
Nice features but the front nine was a soggy mess
It was not very enjoyable due to standing water & mud everywhere.
shot makers course.
Due to rain, course was pretty wet. Overall...great shape. Very nice establishment.
Good course but with issues
I have played this course twice before. This had to be the wettest I have ever seen a course due to all of the rain we have had lately. The layout is very challenging and a good test of all shots. The greens were in very good shape. Due to the wetness, if we had a ball land in the fairway, we had to clean the ball due to the dirt and mud stuck to the ball. Also, there were about 4 gnats per square millimeter. I know this was not the fault of the course management. As I have played this course before, I know that the staff will do everything possible to fix all course issues.
GOOD COARSE THAT COULD USE SOME ATTENTION.
OVERALL,THIS COARSE IS IN GOOD CONDITION.THE GOOD:FAIRWAYS AND GREENS LOOK TO BE PRETTY WELL MAINTAINED.THE BAD:SOME OF THE CART PATHS ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF REPAIR.A LOT OF THE SAND BUNKERS HAVE BEEN WASHED OUT AND NEED TO BE REPAIRED.IN DEFENSE OF THE COARSE,RAIN HAS BEEN VERY HEAVY IN THIS AREA THIS YEAR.STILL,FOR THE QUALITY OF THE HOMES SURROUNDING THE COARSE AND THE AREA THIS COARSE IS IN,THESE ISSUES SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF SOON.
British Open style
Nice course....but don't expect manicured course conditions and that's the way they want it. Very tall roughs all the way round....miss the green/fairway .....lose your ball! Greens were slow.
The course was in great shape.
Enjoyed playing for 1st time this year at this course. The people there were friendly and would recommend this course to all.
The only problem that slowed us down was cart path only ... but all the rain plays the main part in this.
Good value with the GolfNow discount.
Course has several beautiful holes. Rough is very rough and blind shots are not uncommon. A very nice course to play for variety but not the most relaxing course if you like wide open fairways.
very challenging course will make you play a smart golf game
a well maintained course with trouble on several holes. this course will have you thinking do i hit a driver or long iron off several tees.you will surley play smart golf if you want to score well on this course. we enjoyed our round on this course and would play it again.this is a great course for someone who wants to see if they now how to play smart.
Great challenging course
Tough course makes you put shots in the fairway and green. Not real forgiving for the ok golfer.
Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
River Falls is no cake walk. I don't think there is an easy hole on the course but if you can hit the ball straight you will love the course. The rough is high and when you do hit a ball into the deep rough, it's gone.
NO personal coolers
I have and always will have a problem with courses that do not let you bring coolers. All I want is to be able to keep my waters cold. Is it not enough that courses charge high rates to play their course. Then they want you to buy their overpriced drinks. We did not see a drink cart till we were on number 9 fairway. Be warned. This course does not even have water fountains. They just want to try to get all the money out of you they can. I knew this before I went, so I froze some bottles of water and took a bag cooler I could hide in my bag till I got off the first tee. This is one of the reasons golf play is going down in this country. Too expensive.
Can't Beat It For the Price
Is River Falls Plantation going to be hosting a U.S. Open anytime soon, no, but for the very affordable rates and course conditions, you can't beat it. I took my father-in-law and brother-in-law out to play on a Saturday afternoon. They are novices at best, but still had a lot of fun on an easy course. I was able to take advantage of some well positioned tee boxes and rather flat greens to score well. Although overall rather easy, still some difficult holes and course knowledge is key. It was my first time playing the course and I could easily take a few strokes off my round next time with what I know now. For the price, would play again in a heartbeat. The only thing I would like to see is the fairways cut down a little more. I hit some really nice tee shots into the middle of the fairways and didn't have the best lie just because they were kind of fluffy.
The greens were in great shape. From the tips the course is very challenging.
Overall, this is one of the best courses in SC for the value. It has a great layout, quick greens, and nice fariways!
This course is a great track to play
I would recommend this course to any type of handicap golfer. The course is in great shape and the greens are perfect for the rates you can't play bad courses for this price.
nice course
well maintained course. Beautiful views. tight with some tough blind shots. fair green speeds and reads, but several were long and narrow or short and wide. would play again, but not a beginner course (as evidenced by the 129 slope
