Willow Creek Golf Course
About
Situated between Greenville and Spartanburg, Willow Creek Golf Course is a favorite course amongst many area players. The course has a classic layout that starts out gently with a player-friendly front nine but then becomes much more challenging on the back nine. The layout is a seemingly mild 6,890 yards from the back tees but it can feel longer because of all the elevation changes you'll encounter. It's a golf course that will appeal to beginners but advanced players will also enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities that can be found throughout. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there is a slew of strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The par-5 fifth hole is Willow Creek Golf Course's signature. This 516-yard hole tumbles across rolling hills with a stream that cuts right through the fairway.

Very Good Public Option
Willow Creek is a great public option in the upstate. Worth up to an hour drive to play. Course is very playable for the average golfer with just enough challenge. It was cart path only the morning I played after some heavy rain. But the course was still in good shape except for the wet bunkers. Some tees had a few bare spots. But easy enough to move your tee up or back 2 or 3 inches and get in good grass. Fairways had come in pretty nicely and were in good shape. The greens were terrific in spite of the rain. Firm and fast and rolled really good. All in all a good play in the area.
Enjoyable Course
Played WC on Mother’s Day and it was a very fun experience. The course was in good condition, the greens were rolling well. The staff were very friendly. I would seriously consider joining except that is closed to the public for the foreseeable future.
Will Definitlly play here again when in the area!
While we had a delay in teeing off at our assigned time, the staff was very apoligetic and took steps to minimize some problems beyond their control. I enjoyed the course very much. It was well maintaned and an interesting layout.
It’s a Disgrace
I have been playing this course for over 2 years and for the last 6 months have been so far from impressed. The starters act like their job is life and death then don’t do anything when 4 groups are on the same hole when the rest of the course is empty. The patrons have lost all sense of golf etiquette, other groups drive right up next to you blasting music while you are on the tee box, hit balls on top of you and act like they own the course. Bottom line, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Good grief again?
This golf course 2 years ago was the best south of 85 in the area. Now in the last year I think they’re trying to destroy their rep. Without fail when you come out here you’re going to be greeted by the least friendly ranger you have ever met. You will then most likely start your round on 10, why? Idk. By hole 4 you will be met with the pace of play for the rest of the round, the type that makes you want to pull your hair out. By hole 15 you’re most likely going to drive back to the clubhouse and go home. Idk why I come here anymore, but after today, I probably won’t.
Very Slow Play
Great course and amenities. Full of wanna be pros who thinks they should play from the tips. Hit a 200 yard drive and have no etiquette.
Pace of Play Diminished Value & Experience
The course is in good shape. The greens roll nicely. The staff are very friendly. The pace of play is too slow. It took us 2:25 to play 9 holes. Waiting on every hole is not ideal.
When I pulled in the parking lot I thought there was a tournament going on. It was jut regular play. Booked solid. They likely should space out tee times better to give golfers a better experience, especially for what the charge.
I likely won’t be back due to the above.
Good course but don’t like the carts
The pace of play could have been a little quicker. Good course and the greens rolled well but the carts aren’t completely synched and would shut down while driving on the cart path.
GPS
GPS systems on the carts were awful. You spent more time trying to get the alarm turned off and the cart shutting down then you did playing golf and the staff couldn’t even turn them off made Fore pretty much such a crappy day of golf.
Willow Creek SC
Fantastic layout. Great greens… fast and true
All round good
Course is all round good in most aspects!
Good conditions, good carts, good parking, greens rolling good. Nice that they have water and ice with cups available in the clubhouse. I know it probably cuts down on tips for the grill staff, but sure makes things run smoother and faster!
The negative right now is the way the GPS implementation is going through growing pains! a bit of a distraction with some lockouts and the oral warnings. Should be a great enhancement once it is
Completely transitioned! Wasn't as crowded today, but can become so on certain days- and Rangers need to be aware of slow players that will back up the course. Hopefully the GPS system will help that.
WC is probably the gold standard for semi private courses in the area. Keep it up.
Nice course
Greens in very good shape - speed and break occasionally inconsistent. Rough was high and gnarly. Some fairway features were surprise for first time played. We either missed or there weren't water stations on course. Play time good until last few holes on back nine
