About
Situated between Greenville and Spartanburg, Willow Creek Golf Course is a favorite course amongst many area players. The course has a classic layout that starts out gently with a player-friendly front nine but then becomes much more challenging on the back nine. The layout is a seemingly mild 6,890 yards from the back tees but it can feel longer because of all the elevation changes you'll encounter. It's a golf course that will appeal to beginners but advanced players will also enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities that can be found throughout. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there is a slew of strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The par-5 fifth hole is Willow Creek Golf Course's signature. This 516-yard hole tumbles across rolling hills with a stream that cuts right through the fairway.

Slow as always
Course in its usual good shape, but a few greens a tad slow. Tees & fairways in good shape, although a few fairways are starting to dry out here & there. Biggest issue, as always is here, is pace of play. Another 5 hour round on one of the easier courses, that should not take anything over 4 hours for a 4some. Had 4 groups spread out on #14. Basically waited every shot throughout the day, and never a ranger in sight. Why I dont play here more often.....always slow, and cart paths are starting to get really bad. Plenty of better options out there for the price.
Great Course
We had a blast. The outdoor staff, specifically, the starter could have been more welcoming, but that won't stop us from playing again.
Great Time - Great Course
We loved playing Willow Creek today. It took right at 4 hours and the course was great. The staff outside could have been a bit friendlier to my sons (18 & 26) but that won't keep us from returning. We had a great time.
Frustrating
We haven’t played this course in 15 years. The cart paths are horrible!!!!! It was over 100 degrees with the heat index and there was no beverage person riding the course. There was no ranger to keep the pace of play moving. We were stuck behind four men who sprayed the ball everywhere so we had to wait at least 5 minutes on every tee shot. That meant the group behind us was sitting on our tails the whole time, 3 groups on one hole. The one positive was the gps on the carts, it let you know exactly how far ahead the other carts were AND that we were delayed and that’s why we were behind in our allotted time. We got so frustrated that we quit after 9 holes. We won’t go back.
Poor pace of play
We were behind 2 walkers front nine then a 4some and 3 some on back nine. The 3 some was drunk and hand holding the 4 some which ment we were waiting every hole, no ranger seen the whole round.
In great shape!
Former member here and I haven’t been out on the course in over a year. Fairways were better than I ever remember and the greens were running true. An awfully fun and “gettable” track- highly recommend!
Punched Greens
I love playing at Willow Creek. It’s a fun layout. But today the greens had recently been punched and sanded. Everything else was in really good shape. But bc of greens it’s not worth $75. Wait 2 weeks and it will be really good.
Very Good Public Option
Willow Creek is a great public option in the upstate. Worth up to an hour drive to play. Course is very playable for the average golfer with just enough challenge. It was cart path only the morning I played after some heavy rain. But the course was still in good shape except for the wet bunkers. Some tees had a few bare spots. But easy enough to move your tee up or back 2 or 3 inches and get in good grass. Fairways had come in pretty nicely and were in good shape. The greens were terrific in spite of the rain. Firm and fast and rolled really good. All in all a good play in the area.
Enjoyable Course
Played WC on Mother’s Day and it was a very fun experience. The course was in good condition, the greens were rolling well. The staff were very friendly. I would seriously consider joining except that is closed to the public for the foreseeable future.
Will Definitlly play here again when in the area!
While we had a delay in teeing off at our assigned time, the staff was very apoligetic and took steps to minimize some problems beyond their control. I enjoyed the course very much. It was well maintaned and an interesting layout.
