River Falls Plantation
About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

Very good value for the money
Very scenic area on several holes; some blind holes makes for a challenge. Definitely need a cart.
Very nice course great value
Very nice course. Some nice challenging holes. beautiful scenery. everything was great. Bunkers needed work, but stay out of the bunkers. We will play it again
great course, great layout
played on a cloudy day in december and was only one on course. first time playing it - thought it was great! would love to play again in summer. great mix of risk reward holes.
course has unexpecdted difficulty.
The course was in great shape, very clean. All greens were clean and rolled smooth. There are holes with problems you cannot see until you are upon them. Several holes with water just before the greens make shots critical to be over the creek. Several nice long doglegs make for tough second shots but fair!
Interesting, distinctive layout. Good condition.
River Falls is an interesting, challenging course. Some holes have significant elevation changes. The greens were in good shape, firm and fast. The Bermuda grass on the rest of the course was dormant (being December). You were able to get a good lie in the fairway. There were few people on the course at mid day so pace of play was not a problem.
Not a Gary Player gem, but a pretty difficult course that needs some work.
River Falls used to be one of the top notch courses in the upstate of South Carolina, but sadly it has fallen into the middle third of couses now. Difficult layout, but with some easier holes to make up for the tough ones. Needs attention to the fringe areas, those areas off the fairways often frequented by the average golfer. Also needs some attention to the cart paths. Tree roots make the ride very rough in many areas. Overall, a pleasant experience.
great course
Greens are the best in the upstate. They treated my group very well and with respect.
Loved the greens - bring plenty of balls
Condition of the course was great. The greens are slick but very predictable and not grainy. I've got a 24 handicap and i went through a bunch of balls. So, hit'm straight and stay in the fairway
Think before you hit to keep your score low, course management works really good here.
I play this course about four times a year. Its nice to pay a low fee using Golfnow.com and playing on Black Friday (busy) play only took a little over 4 hrs.
Great all-around course in Spartanburg - Greenville area
My wife and I played Nov. 10th. The course was in great condition, especially for this time of year. The fairways are a bit on the tight side, but not crazy. The course winds through a nice community, so there is OB on many holes, but plenty of rough to work with on wayward drives. Greens are great, challenging - but fair. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. A long distance at time between the green and the next tee - don't plan on walking unless you're a pack mule! This is a great course, we will be back to play for sure!
A lot of slopes
This is a Gary Player design and it's a beautiful course. The course flows through a housing development and most tees are pretty far from the greens. It's got a lot of elevation changes, so it's not a course I would want to walk. Out of bounds is always in play. The bunkers were fluffy sand. This is a tough track if you ever get out of position, but they give you plenty of room on most holes. The 16th hole features a cliff left of the green and the river runs along the right. I hit my drive 50 yards short of the green and I was about 50 feet above the green. It's a fun course, plush greens, but very challenging.
Challenging but playable
Just an average golfer and this course has some narrow fairways that require fairly accurate shots, but was able to shoot a decent score - as did my playing partners - the first time out. Personnel were extremely friendly and helpful.
Difficult course, Not a course I would choose to play everyday
River Falls is a hard course with quite a few forced carries and what are narrow landing areas for the average golfer.I hadn't played it in along time and it appears the rough has been cut back some. In the past they had severe rough next to the fairway and it was easy to loose balls. To me this is a good course for occasional play and you need to take a cart.
Great Course
Golf course was in great condition and has been well maintained. Greens were in great condition. The course is challenging, but not so too hard. The pace of play was slow and I wasn't able to play the last 3 holes, but overall, a great course and experience.
Love the greens. Best in the area
Well maintained great greens & very Challenging. I love this course they have a great staff very friendly.
Tee times...
I love playing Riverfalls. It is a course that is in our regular rotation for my foursome. This day was a perfect day for golf. The course had some spots that were in need of attention just from the amount of play. Greens are always in good shape. The only negative on my day was that they were letting people go out before their tee times. If they had gone on an earlier designated tee time if wouldn't have been a problem. They have their tee times spaced @ 10 minutes. They let a group that was suppose to tee off after us, tee off in between the 2 groups in front of us which caused a back up all the way around. So that being said my only suggestion would be to work on keeping the tee time spacing and maybe a Marshall to move slow play along.
gary player
this is a gary player target style golf that is in your face no hidden secrets about what you need to do. good course with tall rough.
