About
Thorntree opened in 1984, and while it has changed ownership multiple times over the years,it remains one of the toughest courses in the DFW area. The course features six lakes and three spring-fed creeks that spice up the layout, as well as immaculate fairways and challenging bent-grass greens.
On the front, No. 5 stands out as one of the most difficult holes – a 400 yard-plus par 4 that runs through a chute of trees and doglegs right into a green sided by a pond.
The back is a bit more difficult, which you’ll realize quickly due to the 666-yard double dogleg No. 10. The next hole is only a 382- yard par 4, but the approach is dicey into the shallow green. No. 13 is another nice hole–only 338 yards with another challenging approach into a green that’s guarded by an old thorn tree.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Wintergreen Road exit and turn right. Drive 4 miles to the course, and the entrance is on the right side.

Great play for the price! Greens are in great shape for this time of year! Staff super cool!
A must play.
Tough little course
Layout was challenging and greens were good but got a lot of roll on the fairways because the grass is dormant and really short. It’s fine on the flatter fairways but some of them are really sloped. Will play again when the grass is growing.
Staff gets it! They understand golf is a hospitality business. Most don't.
Had a great time. Course conditions only got 3 stars simply because it is winter golf the day after a rain storm. We will be back.
Fun course
Good value, nice course, Lee out is fun, staff is friendly, pro shop is no hassles.
Great surprise!
I played today without any knowledge of Thorntree. Enjoyed the course immensely. Plenty of length, many unique holes, true greens, loads of bunkering both fairway and guarding the greens. The course has earned its slope ratings. Great challenge!

Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and true. Pace of play was bad. No cowboys game and the last good weather day for a while.
Bring your "A" game!!!!
This course will humble you from start to finish! Course layout is unlike any other. Be prepared to shoot above average golf. Sorry just being honest. Oh i forgot, bring an extra sleeve of balls!
Greens were Nice
Course was in great shape! Fairways nice,greens excellent.
Sand traps could use some work and t boxes needed watered as it was almost impossible to get tee in ground.
Overall very nice course.

Everything is clear and perfect to play and enjoy with friends.
