Wailea Golf Club - Old Blue Course
About
The flagship of the three golf courses at Wailea Golf Club on Maui, Blue is a classic Arthur Jack Snyder design built in 1972. The golf course rolls along the foothills of 10,000-foot-high Mt. Haleakala, a dormant volcano that dominates the skyline. This scenic Hawaiian resort-style course features both Pacific Ocean and volcano views and plays 6,545 yards from the championship tees, though each hole has three tee boxes for players of every skill level. The Blue course is close enough to the water that, from certain points like the 12th tee boxes, whales can be spotted.

Always nice to come back
We always love to play the Old Blue Course when we come to Maui. Now construction is finished around the course and we can enjoy the view. Staff is very friendly and the course was in good condition.
maui tour 2013
Played 4 courses this course was excellent. Staff is very friendly and customer service is of upmost importance. Top the day off by staying for dinner and enjoying sunset at truly authentic irish pub .
Low price alternative to Gold and Emerald Courses
I've played all of the Wailea courses, and there was a drop off between this course and the Emerald and Gold courses. I think there are better values on Maui.
Good course but not sure if its worth the full fee
I normally wouldn't pay over $130 a round but had a GolfNow Reward for a free Hot Deal round. We teed off 15 min. after the booked time because there was a tournament on course that hadn't finished its course. Because it was a tee time at almost 1pm during winter daylight hours I was a little concerned that we'd finish. Fortunately, we did finish with 20 min to spare. The course and greens were in very good condition. The greens were fast and rolling pretty true. Pro shop staff and course staff were courteous. The clubhouse was really showing its age. Overall, it was a good experience, but not sure if I would play it again.
Great golf experience!
Had a great round....can't beat the view from the fairways. The course itself is maintained very well, and the staff is friendly. The warm up area is small, and only has nets to hit into instead of an actual driving range. Because of this, it would be nice if the management spent more time maintaining it like they do with the course. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend playing here when in Wailea. Beautiful place to play! Thanks for the experience!
Great warm-up course before playing the Emerald or Gold
The course is in the best condition I've seen in several years, from tee to green. Wide fairways make it easy getting off the tee. Spectacular views everywhere, especially from the par-3 12th tee box.
The course could use a marshall - a lot of singles and two-somes are randomly sent out in the afternoon and not paired up, so expect slow play during twilight. Mulligan's is a great place to watch the 'early' NFL games on Sunday.
Course in great shape, very playable
Enjoyed the course, the conditions was a very good value!
hard grass to hit off of
this course has a particular kind of grass. your club grabs it quite often making for a bad shot. other than that is was and ok course.
The course was fun and pretty wide open. Great scenery.
I had a fun time playing at this course. It was a good value for playing in Maui. The course was very playable for a high handicap player.
Greate course, will play again.
Although the course had just finished Sept. maintance it was still in very good shape. We had a good time and played in a little less than 4 hrs. Great staff!
views on the ocean horizen are a great plus to the course with a beautiful layout.
Played at a reduced rate since course greens had been recently arriated. Greens still rolled nicely and true. Wide fairways and large greens. Practice facility range into nets was the only drawback.
Great course overlooking the ocean
Exceptional views of the ocean and coastline. Enjoyable golf with friendly staff. A must play on Maui.
Great
I got there early. 8 am. I was a single.
They let me out by myself. It was one of the greatest times that I have ever had golfing. Imagine resort golfing by myself.
very good golf course
after 2 weeks on maui playing other courses, this was the best, and also the least expensive.
on my next trip, i will play only this course.
great views.....excellent fairways/tees, and the greens were excellent.
thanks golfnow.com for getting me on the couse.
A must play when you visit Maui !
My wife and brother played the Old Blue in April this year (2013) and we all enjoyed the course very much. It was in superb playing condition and the greens were running at about 12 on the stimpmeter which is the way we like it. Stunning views of the ocean, perfect weather and a solid track with no homes to worry about , wide open fairways yet challenging with trees , bunkers and layout of the holes such that an errant approach shot could leave you on the wrong side of a pin with no hope of an up and down for par so a wonderful course to play. We didn't want it to end. We topped the day off with a fantastic dinner at Gannon's just down the road at one of the sister course, the Emerald. We will be back :)
Old Blue Still a Maui Gem!!
Having played the Blue Course at Wailea several times before, once again we very much enjoyed Wailea's oldest course. The fairways were in great condition along with the tee boxes. Greens were challenging but a fair test of ones putting ability. GPS on every cart makes shot making a tad easier, and is a great feature. The perfect weather conditions along with a friendly staff made the golf a real treat.
Wide fairways and lots of slope for a fun experience
Wailea Old Blue is a fun track. Wide open fairways and lots of elevation changes make for a fun golf experience. Pace of play was slow though, with the round taking over 5 hours.
Greens need work!!!
This course is definately a fair test and playable for most skill levels. Unfortunately the greens need some work. No two greens rolled consistently the same. Enjoyed the round but would pay a little more and play the Gold or Emerald courses.
Outstanding course with friendly staff - a class act
The course layout can be very challenging from the back tees but is also very fair. The whites are quite reasonable for the average player. Course conditions were excellent and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Played in about 3 hours but the first six holes were as a single then joined a 2-some.
Overall a great experience and more affordable than either Gold or Emerald.
Good, would be better for $20-$30 less
Course was great, people were terrific. But certain aspects were very dated, including the warm up area. Parts of the course were a little beat up.
As for the track: big, wide fairways, with somewhat tricky greens. In good condition as it seems like not a lot of people play it. Good views of the Pacific from the hillside.
Overall, solid set up. Didn't mind the cost, but for a little less it would have been great.
