Always a great track clean well maintained and staff eager to help. If you’re looking for a great public Cousre that offers several challenging holes this is the place. Don’t think twice and book your tee time !!
Thank you to the Philips Park staff, always accommodating and ready to serve!!
Beautiful old style course & an unbelievable Hot Deal
Played this course for the second time this season and we really enjoyed it. Last round the front 9 had burned out rough on several holes from the misapplication of chemicals, but it is much improved now and not an issue. This is a very pretty course and the view from the clubhouse overlooking the back nine is spectacular. Each hole is unique and there are no homes intruding on the course. It was a hot, humid day but water coolers were abundant and Sarah the cart girl (who was friendly and cute) kept us refreshed. My only negative comment would be the condition of the bunkers which were hard with not much sand. The incredible $20 Hot Deal included carts, but my cousin and I walked to get ready for an Irish golf trip. It's surprisingly hilly, so we got our exercise and were soaking wet after 18.
Course is still recovering
Earlier this year, there was a maintenance mistake that killed the grass in areas of the rough on the front 9. The course is still recovering. Those areas are hard- you get strange bounces. It's more odd weeds than grass - you get crazy lies. The greens are slow, the slowest I've played this season. I was only in one bunker. It was a combination of dirt, gravel, and sand. We played in 3:50 on a Friday afternoon so that was good. The round cost $21 on Golf Now.
Great Course
This a great place for golf. Jeff does a nice job with the course.
poor conditions and slow play
As stated in previous reviews, course conditions are poor due to over fertilization. The greens have improved but they're still not up to Phillips Park standards. In response to the few people who have graded conditions as good, I'm not sure what course their referring to. Slow play is a new problem. As stated on the score card, the expected time to play 18 holes is 4 hours and 10 minutes. Pace of play has slowed significantly.
