Haven at Haven Public Golf Club
About
Built along the Santa Cruz River, Haven Golf Course offers scenic views of the Santa Rita Mountains. Built in 1967, it is Green Valley’s oldest golf course and the only course in the area where walking is allowed. The landscape is covered with mature pines, palms, and eucalyptus trees. There are water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play, but overall the golf course has an enjoyable, player-friendly layout. In addition to the 18-hole course, the Haven Golf G.C. facility features a nine-hole, par-3 golf course called Tortuga. There is also a complete practice facility with all-grass hitting stations that provides excellent short game practice.

Very poor condition
I don’t care that it is two weeks before overseed. There is no excuse for this course to be in such horrible shape. It is the worst it has been in the 18 years I have played here.
Haven golf course
Greens are in good condition fairways a little dry in fair condition
Nice one
Ilike this course and also the People in charge is very friendly
More Bang for the Buck
Always a great course to play: fantastic views, great pace (I had the course mostly to myself), great weather (you have to be acclimated). I’ve read some complaints re mosquitos but none were out in the afternoon. It does make me wonder: if you’re from the Midwest/Northwest/anywhere else, you would be knee deep in the blood suckers at this time. Why are complaining about them here? Next, you’re going to say that it’s too hot this time of year, and all the restaurants serve Mexican cuisine.
Burned out and buggy
The course was in terrible shape. Bugs everywhere
Mosquito Infested.
Played 6:30am and the Mosquitoes were in abundance and out of control. We used different mosquito sprays and they kept coming, it was very hard to focus on each shot. Please know prior to playing and confirm with Pro shop the status of Mosquitoes prior to booking round, wish I had known.
Mosquitoes are out so make sure you bring the bug spray. The rough is deep in some places so stay in the fairways. Many areas of standing water that should be drained. Looks like they are getting ready to overseed so you'll see more bald spots and clippings than usual. However, I always enjoy playing at Haven.
Nice Course.
Pace of play was a little slow and the mosquitos were bad.
Haven.
Due to the rains some areas of mud making balls unplayable. Mosquitos were u real and it’s a no go if you don’t have OFF to use.
Otherwise I really enjoyed the course, great value for the money. Will be back more often.
Great Value
Well, it must be said that the course is showing some wear-and-tear, but, in its defense, this is southern AZ in August, and every course looking somewhat tired. Keep in mind that the overseeding is about a month away…. That said, the course is always a joy to play- okay, maybe not always a joy (due to my lack of ability) but still a challenge to play with fantastic scenery and surroundings, not to mention the various roadrunners that come by to critique my game. Overall, a great place to spend a couple of hours being outside, working on hitting straighter and farther, and enjoying the Sonoran desert. I don’t understand why people drive into Tucson to play there, but part of me is glad that the do since it means fewer folks taking my preferred time slots at Green Valley’s best value in golf.
Course has a nice layout. Must have bug spray. Fairways are in rough shape. Around the greens need a lot of work. The greens were good and rolled nicely although the grass was a little high. Rather forgiving course and enjoyable for the cost. The bunkers are in decent shape.
Sad course
It was the most unenjoyable round I've had. The pace of play was horrendous. There were 4 groups on one hole at times. What's the point of a course ranger if he's not going to do anything about the pace of play. Waiting 3, 4, 5 minutes to hit every shot is not my idea of a good time. If you golf here, you won't be able to stand still without getting swarmed by misquotes. The fairways and around the greens were ridiculous. Huge dirt patches in the fairways. The fringes around the greens were nonexistent. You're chipping off of dirt or putting through weed patches. Just an overall bad experience.

Got eaten alive by Mosquitoes!!!
Swarms of big nasty mosquitoes everywhere. Have over 25 bites all over my legs and arms. Like the other golfer mentioned, was never warned by the pro shop. Fairways are terrible. Patches of dirt on almost every fairway. That’s if you can get a shot off before you get eaten alive by the biggest mosquitoes I’ve ever seen. Some greens are okay and some greens are just terrible. The price was ok, but so is every other course in town. Go elsewhere instead. Trust me. Pretty easy layout and you’re not missing anything. Would never drive all the way to green valley again. STAY AWAY!!!
Malaria
I did enjoy the course, I played the back 9, except I wasn't warned about the mosquitos throughout the course when I went inside to pay. I didn't have bug spray. Which was sold inside the club house. I was bitten mercilessly my first 5 holes until I borrowed spray from another group.
Recommend the course be sprayed proffesionaly by a mosquito fogger.
Haven Golf
Haven's course is getting better and better. The greens and fairways have improved, and it is an easy course. Perfect for newbies, someone who wants to just take it easy, and those who want to get back into the game. The only problem is the mosquitoes during the rainy season so be sure to wear repellent. They aren't everywhere, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
