About
Built along the Santa Cruz River, Haven Golf Course offers scenic views of the Santa Rita Mountains. Built in 1967, it is Green Valley’s oldest golf course and the only course in the area where walking is allowed. The landscape is covered with mature pines, palms, and eucalyptus trees. There are water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play, but overall the golf course has an enjoyable, player-friendly layout. In addition to the 18-hole course, the Haven Golf G.C. facility features a nine-hole, par-3 golf course called Tortuga. There is also a complete practice facility with all-grass hitting stations that provides excellent short game practice.

Haven
We played this course several weeks prior within a day or two of it being reopened after overseeding. It was a bit rough then so we thought we would give it another chance. We were disappointed. Greens on front were shaggy and in some cases unputtable while on the back were In better shape. Bunkers have not been groomed and are hard packed, first cut around greens was patchy with grass clumps and bare spots. Fairways were in need of mowing and overwatered and muddy in spots. Tee boxes had not been moved recently and were raggedy. We have all played here numerous times and not seen the course in this kind of condition. Hopefully, it will be brought back to normal.
Great staff
The course had recently been over seeded, and the grass was coming in nicely. Greens are beautiful. Still a little fuzzy, but a lot of fun. we would definitely recommend this course. The views are beautiful.

Overseed Conditions
Course is recovering nicely from overseed. Greens still slow, fairways and tee boxes mostly in good condition. A good neighborhood course to play.

Sand traps
There is no sand in the sand traps just like heart pain.

Reseeding
Love this course, love playing here. But currently in the middle of reseeding, and parts of course are not healed yet. Cart path only takes more time, many wet areas still, might take a few weeks to dry out. Greens very slow, as are fairways, get little or no roll. But it will improve and is still an awesome course to play !

Cart path only conditions not advertised and the greens were the shaggiest in town. Almost temporary green feel. Tee time was 20 minutes late and played a 5 hour round

Pace of play
Horrible pace of play. Almost 3 hours for 9 holes- our group walked off after 9. Ranger is not speeding groups up at all.

Worth the drive
Course just opened from overseeding, so the greens were slow. Club selection was interesting, lots of wind on day of play. Groups got backed up on closing holes. Some players got impatient and jumped ahead while my group was on the tee box. Not many courses in the Tucson area allow you to hit driver on every par 4, it was a nice change to play driver more often here.

Cart path only
This was after overseed, but no mention of cart path only, until we got to proshop. Very over watered in many areas, including bunkers, that were very unplayable. Greens as expected were super slow, grass still long. Course is very flat, green, but still sparse in many areas.

Great time only 1 issue
This was a great time and the condition of the course was perfect. The only issue was that they were mowing the grass as I was playing. It was so unprofessional I had to actually have the person stop mowing as I finished the round.

Worst course ever
Didn't know it was cart path only. Greens were terrible so long you couldn't putt. Pace of play was awful, 20 minute wait between holes. Quit after 5 holes

Sub-par municipal course
Started off by getting eaten alive my mosquitoes at hole 1, never experienced so many insect bite in my life. Luckily the pro shop had insect spray, so was able to turn around and get it.
The pace of play was some of the slowest we experienced, the two groups in front of us tried to play eight at a time, but luckily the cart lady forced them to split up. We understand they were beginners on a municipal course but they should’ve allowed us to play through with how slow they were playing.
The grass was so overgrown and patchy that it was difficult to see the ball and find it on the best of shots.
Not worth the drive from Tucson when there are so many other options, would rather spend more for a local course.

Too bad
I've been playing this course for 30 years...The course is in terrible condition, especially for the price....please spend some money to get it back to a reasonable condition!
