Championship at Viewpoint Golf Resort
About
The Viewpoint Golf Resort offers both a championship course as well as an executive golf course. The Championship Course provides a fair test of skill of golfers of any skill level with generous, rolling fairways lined with trees and some greens that are severely sloped from back to front. With numerous sand bunkers and water hazards that come into play in the form of three lakes and a small creek, the course definitely makes strategic shot-making a priority. The course also provides a scenic atmosphere for the game with panoramic mountain views and cascading waterfalls throughout. Viewpoint Golf Resort's Championship course is easy to walk and there are four sets of tees for a variety of different golfing options.

Has some wear
The fairways and greens are dry. Many of the tee boxes were in bad shape.... deep and large holes on a couple of them. Not as nice as it used to be and the cost for 18 holes- $99 or more- is way too spendy for this course even for winter play.
What happened to the course?
We have always liked this course and played it a lot. Don’t care for the shotgun starts during the winter! Played a couple of weeks ago and the course conditions were so much better. Not sure what has happened since but the fairways were half dead, lots of weeds growing and a terrible invasion of poa grass including the greens making them very rough! Bunkers are dirt with a bit of sand. The cart guys were grumpy as was the lady in the golf shop! We booked on GolfNow so they lady in the shop said we couldn’t get our cart until 20 min prior yet lots of carts sitting! Never heard of that before! They need to get on this course or it will go to waste!!
Dried up golf course.
This course is in pretty bad shape. I've golfed here a couple of times in the past and this is the worst. The course is dried up, greens are dried up and tee boxes are in horrible conditions. We still paid $170 for two golfers and is not worth it. Take your money elsewhere and I'm sure there's some broken pipe excuse, but if you know there are issues let your customers know. The gal at the front or the starter said nothing about this place being in this bad shape. Thanks Viewpoint you took my money even though you knew your golf course was in horrible condition. I could post pictures, but not worth it. I just won't come to this golf course anymore.
Good course with decent greens
Play the scores for the first time, and it was a little tough. The toughness did not come from the whole stem cells, but the pin placement.. pin placement seemed as if it was in a sandy spot for a tournament. Overall it was still fun and I would go back and play this course again.
Fun course
Course was in decent shape. Played with two guys who were alot of fun. One of the first times I haven't had to wait on any of the Tee boxes
nice course, decent condition
nice player friendly course.
Staff has a reputation for not being very friendly and I agree.
Why so expensive??
It seems to be the AZ way right now. In a normal world this round should cost $20 less than what it did.
It seems that AZ courses at charging A LOT because they can. I only hope they are reinvesting the premium the golfers are paying.
Not a bad course and I would play again but wow, still $20 to much.
Easy course , fun to play
If you don't want to get frustrated with major challenges , go play that course.
Cart guy needs to check his attitude!
I booked my round the day of and upon arriving at the course there really wasn't a bag drop or attendant like most of the courses around, no big problem though. I went inside the pro shop and only one lady was at the counter with a line of 8-10 waiting. Went back outside to wait, came back and only 1 person left. As I tried checking in my name wasn't on their printed out sheet and she seemed confused by this but eventually located me in the system and checked in. There were no carts out in front and found someone to ask about getting a cart, they said I could take the one that he drove up in (an elderly lady had fallen by the putting green and cut her head open, some of the staff were very quick to respond and help her until EMS arrived). My tee time was for 2:15pm, checked in with the starter as another group was getting ready to tee off, then there was another foursome waiting after that, didn't tee off till around 2:40pm. Pace was super slow by the group ahead of us, even though the group in front of them eventually pushed ahead a hole and half in front of them. I found out later that there are no course marshals out on the course after they stopped doing the shotgun starts. As for the course itself, not too difficult, fairways are pretty thin, rough was weeds, bunkers didn't have a lot of sand, some with just pebbles, most the greens were hard, but rolled true and decent speed. The end kicker for me never coming back is apparently there is a 6:30pm "curfew" for all golf carts to be at the staging area regardless where on the course you are and if daylight is left. My group was on #18 at 6:28pm when the 3 of us had already teed off and everyone in the fairway. The cart guy came out and proceeded to actually pick up the golf balls in the fairway and tells us we were done playing. I was actually getting ready to hit my shot into the green when he pulled up by me and asked, "are you going to hit that?", which I said "yes" and he said "no you aren't" and stood right in front of me. He then proceeded to argue with me for at least 5 minutes, in which time I would have finished the hole. The cart still didn't get there any faster. Thinking back, I should have just gotten my stuff and clubs off the cart to walk that last 180 yards and finish the hole, then he could have figured a way to get the cart back by himself. The one positive thing was the people I played with were very friendly and we weren't made to double up in the cart, they allowed us to have single carts. If we had actually started at 2:15pm we would have had plenty of time to finish all 18 holes even with the slow group ahead of us. It would also be nice to have course marshals out enforcing faster play and people not hitting multiple extra shots every hole. Also, some of the parking is under repair and asphalt is piled up, the roof over the restaurant was also getting replaced so lots of construction work by holes close to the pro shop/restaurant. However, I won't be playing this course again.
A Little Slow
We used to play this course a lot but when they do shotgun starts with higher rates we go elsewhere. The course was in pretty good condition with nice turf in the fairways, tee boxes. Greens were fast. Pace of play gets stacked up so 18 holes in 4.5 hrs is a little long for a short course. The guy doing the golf cart area was grumpy! Overall we like the course!
Nice, relatively forgiving course. Shorter than average, but still had some challenges and beauty to the lay out.
Very friendly Pro Shop staff and starter. The course Marshall was extremely unprofessional: We had a late start due to slow play/overcrowding. At the 16th hole, he told us that the 6:30 pm mandatory cart return was approaching. I asked him to please ask the group in front of us to pick up their play as they were one and a half holes behind the next group. He waived me off as if it's not his problem. Then at the 18th hole, he literally picked up our golf balls after our drives because it was 6:28, two minutes from closing time ...even though we had about 5 -10 minutes of play left, as well as about 45 minutes before sunset. He was not an asset to this course.
