Sunland Village East Golf Course
About
Nestled within a quiet retirement community, the Sunland Village East Golf Course is a great course for seniors and beginners. It is also a good course for golfers who want to work on their short game, especially practicing with short irons. The course, which is a mix of par 3s and par 4s, has a short layout that rewards good shots making it perfect for golfers who are intimidated by lengthier courses with par 5s. On this golf course, the longest hole is a modest 331 yards. The Sunland Village East Golf Course facility also had a full driving range.

Eightsome
On arrival I noticed a large backup on the 1st tee. I inquired about this before I paid my fee and was told it’s just a lot of private carts. All seemed well for about three holes but then everything slowed way down and noticed that two groups had joined and we were playing behind a group of eight, I told the pro shop that the pace was horrible and they offered nothing.
Not a fast round
Easy to find, check in easy, clean carts with sand bottles, water buckets for towels, water on course for us, signage could be a little more conspicuous, tees good, fairways good entire course is green and cared for, bunkers with sand and good rakes, greens generally have some movement so few straight putts, they roll pretty nice, short course but you still have to hit good shots, they have sand boxes on all par threes which most folks don’t use, but at least they have them, pace is kind of slow took 4 hrs, can take carts to parking lot
Ranger
Definitely needs a ranger ! Couple ahead of us hitting 2/3 balls per shot and a single player ahead of them! Pace of the terrible!!!
Great time greens were great rounded true. All in all a great day
Great executive course
We sort found this course by accident, but wish we would have found it earlier. Manicured course, green everywhere. It was a quick 9, barely over an hour to play. Could walk this course easily. The clubhouse (Fat Willy’s) was great, friendly staff and reasonably prices. Will play here again if we have the chance.
Lush and green!
Great staff and amazing course conditions. We played the back 9, it’s a great executive course. Everything is so green and well maintained. Wish we would have spotted it earlier in the week, we would have loved to play 18. Will for sure golf here next time we are in Mesa! Fat Willy’s bar & grill on-site also had great food and drinks at a very reasonable price.
Good turf and conditions
Good fairways and rough! Felt like I was in the Midwest!
Course in great shape and played fast
Course fairways and greens are in very good to excellent shape. Fairways are especially lush. We've had a ton of rain in the last week so course is wet, but it's a wonderful short course
Fun courset
Love playing there, staff are the friendliest. Would like at least one par 5 but still a comfortable course to play for intermediate player
Pro shop joke
We had a 6:32am tee time. Pro shop staff did not show up untill 6:25. We did not even get a sorry for being late, nothing was said. Not even enough time to use range to warm up (with bad back, i really need to warm up before playing). Did chat with course superintendent while waiting for pro shop to open, will recommend this course based on superintendents customer service and course condition, without him i would have never thought about going back, based off pro shop customer service. We did not tee off until 6:50am with no one in front of us. Pace of play was excellent right around 2 1/2 hours. Would like to thank Rich (superintendent) for at least saving our experience.
