Oakcreek Country Club is situated amongst Sedona's red rock mountains, providing unique scenery throughout. Opened over 40 years ago, it is Sedona's first golf course. The course was a collaboration between Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and his son. It is a classic, player-friendly layout that offers plenty of room for error. There are also several opportunities to recover errant shots incorporated into the design. Despite its forgiving nature, the golf course definitely has its challenges. There are tree-lined fairways with bunkers strategically positioned in the landing areas and elevated greens bordered by large, swirling bunkers. Three lakes also come into play on five holes. Oakcreek Country Club requires accuracy as well as length in order to score well. Next to the clubhouse there are extensive practice facilities including a large driving range with target areas, a practice green, putting and chipping greens, and a short game area with a sand bunker.

Was told beverage cart had sandwiches. She’s didn’t. Tried to get a sandwich at the turn but had none premade. Tried to get a hot dog but was told it would take 8-10 minutes. Very disappointed we couldn’t get lunch and keep our pace of play.

Turf conditions in many areas were poor. Fairways had not been mowed. Many ballmarks on greens were not fixed. Rough was clumpy and bare in spots. Animal damage caused by chasing grubs were in soft moist areas. Driving range in terrible shape.

We play here every year for 2 decades and have never seen the course in this shape. In prior years we would have rated course with 5 stars.

NO FOOD

The golf was very nice. Had to wait on many holes but it was a holiday weekend so no surprise there.

The big complaint was I was unable to get any food. I tried calling the restaurant on hole 8 and no one answered the phone. I was unable to get the QR code thing to work promptly. I had to tee off. I went in the restaurant and no one was available to help me.

I flagged down the cart girl and she had no food on her cart. What???

I have never had that experience at a course before . Very Weird!

Not worth the money.

For a Sedona course, I expected more. A ball in the rough settles down and is often difficult to locate. Some fairway sections needed work - including a few areas in front of several greens, but the greens were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were hoping to have a meal after our round at the course restaurant but there was no food service after 3:30! What???

A little ragged

Fairways were rough, rough was impossible. Mowers worked on greens which were overly fast especially on the many greens with severe slopes. Fairways over watered to the point of needed lift clean and place. No roll in the fairways. Most aprons in front of greens had significant bare spots. Beautiful layout, could be top notch with a few tweaks.

Fun Course

Slow play is hit and miss here, but usually is slow due to newer golfers that don't get it and it's easy to get distracted by the beautiful rocks. Sand traps are brutal as they are hard clay mostly. Course is fun, stay in the fairways and below the pin on the greens.

Perfect weather

Enjoy this course - relaxing.

Really enjoyed the course as the weather was perfect, the course was in really good condition and the people, especially the "Player's Assistant" and Starter were very friendly. If the pace of play (4 1/2 hrs) was better, and the greens were a little firmer (they were quite soft and somewhat bumpy rolling because of ti, it would have been perfect all around.

the course is tough enough to give a challenge yet easy enough that you don't need a dozen balls to get around. I'm sure that with faster greens and some pin placements, it could be tough.

Oak Creek

Great course. Only played the front 9. A bit too costly to play 18. Very good condition and layout. Great views on a very traditional course!

Disappointing Experience

Came to Sedona thinking we’d play a desert style course and Oakcreek was the complete opposite. Oakcreek was basically a retirement community course with a terrible layout. You can’t hit driver on half the holes or you hit through the fairway. Course condition was good, greens were fast and challenging but wouldn’t play this course again.
