Union Hills Golf & Country Club

The course is fun, forgiving but huge undulating greens. Don’t be above the hole!

Union Hills is consistently a fun course to play. Staff are friendly, check-in is quick, the club announcer noticed we were on the tee and respectfully asked us to wait for a single to join us. We had a terrific round! The course is in perfect condition. A good challenge for me, a 15 handicap

Union Hills has invested a lot over the past 18 months and you will notice when playing. While the facilities still have an old school vibe, the course has been worked on and is worth the current pricing. Cleaned up around the ponds and actually have water running through the streams. If you can keep it on the green stuff, 2nd and approach shots actually have grass under the ball, which is something hard to find in AZ. Greens are patchy in some areas, but this can be seen at other more expensive courses as well. We play higher-end courses around Phoenix/Scottsdale, but play Union Hills a few times a month and is our go to, when we want to save a few bucks, but still have a challenge.

This is a really nice course kept beautifully, the staff was super nice. Will definitely be coming back!

I like the layout here, challenging at times with lots of water and some well placed bunkers (with enough sand to actually be playable, which is nice), and OB all around the perimeter in neighborhood backyards, but also a couple of drivable par 4s and reachable par 5s for bigger hitters. The greens were quite good, fast and rolled true. Facilities are a little rough around the edges, and the drink cart passed us by without a second glance on the 6th(!) hole, and we only saw her again right before the turn, and then a couple of times on the back, after we had stocked up, but that's just timing, I guess. Friendly staff, though! I'll be back for sure, and often.

Overall the course was in good shape and the pace of play excellent. Greens were a little fast and on several holes the areas short of the greens were very wet.

Our round took 4:45 minutes to play. Either they are booking tee times too close or need a Marshall. Longest round we’ve played this year

I've been twice and both times the pace of play on front 9 was brutal. Multiple groups backed up from 2nd tee to 5th tee. The 5th seems to be the issue. Not exaggerating when I say there were four groups waiting to tee off on the 5th both times I played. It got a little better after that but it was a tough start and there was not a ranger in sight either time.

The course is much better since Swing First golf took over management of it. It is fairly good shape and well maintained. The club house and grounds are improving steadily. Play was slow as our round was 4 1/2 hours long. Also, cart return crew was not necessarily all that friendly.

All the pin placements were in sucker pin locations Greens were very hard to hold land on the front and end up off the green in the back. Just a nice old style Sun city course.

nothing too bad, nothing to write home about.

Will I go back? sure when it cheaper or cleaned up a bit.

Staff was awesome.

Very dry conditions + slow play +high price = typical Phoenix area golf.
