Sun City Lakes Golf Club - West Course
About
The 18-hole West Course at Sun City Lakes Golf Club is a private course with a traditional layout. The course is quite open and features a few interesting challenges. It is relatively flat, making it nice to walk although carts are available. More advanced players that mostly hit straight balls may not find the course challenging enough, but it is quite enjoyable for beginners and intermediate players. Notable holes on the course are the 3rd, 9th, and 18th since they can be played a few different ways. The Lakes West Golf Course facility, in addition to the course, has practice facilities including a putting green, chipping area, and driving range.

Main Issue is GolfNOW directions
Be aware, the directions on GolfNOW sent me to a housing area- about 7 miles off course. Just put in the Golf course into Google Maps and you should see a green area (the course) at your destination.
Also, guys at the front desk had no respect for a Veteran. It's as if I was a problem. Me being there for the first time- I had questions. They were NOT user friendly.
Sun City Lakes West
The staff was friendly and helpful. Rangers were out on the course to keep the pace of play moving. The grass conditions in the fairways on the front 9 left were not very good. Many bare spots and tight lies. Back 9 was a little better. Greens rolled well. Hopefully with the summer grass coming back conditions will improve soon.
Fairways need work
First time I have played Lakes Wast in a month and I was very surprised by the condition of the fairways. Almost all of theme have a waffle like pattern of bare spots across the entire length. When my drive landed in a bare spot I would have to move my ball to a near by grass patch.. In all honesty, it was better to hit out of the rough then the fairways. The greens there are fast but I knew that going in so I had no issue with them.
Fair at best
Of all the sun city a sun city west courses I’ve played this one unfortunately was at the bottom. I played it a couple of times before and it was much better.
Rookie
Over seed much better on back 9. Below average condition compared to others in area. But a nice layout and enjoyed my golf partners.
Mediocre
This course would be a better value if you didn’t have to pay a $20 cart fee on top of the tee time dues. Tee boxes and fairways were in decent shape. Greens were 50/50. Some of them looked like they had been spray painted green. If you were a few yards short on some of the greens.. they weren’t trimmed/mowed very well and it felt like I was chipping/putting out of the rough. If you bring your own golf bag push cart or simply walk the course.. it’s an ok course for the price. Other than that.. I probably won’t be back
Great value golf
I play this course multiple times a winter. It’s always been a great course at a very reasonable price for the valley. I will definitely continue to play.
The fairways were on great shape for winter but the greens were awful. Very dead.
