North Golf Course at Sun City

About
Located just south of Grand Avenue in Sun City, Sun City North Golf Course's trademarks are the doglegs and large trees that are present throughout the course. It has many other challenges to offer including plush, elevated greens and numerous sand bunkers. Placid ponds also create water hazards that come into play on two holes. The well-maintained course is relatively flat with plenty of shade, making it enjoyable to walk. The Sun City North Golf Course facility has several amenities including a putting green and chipping area. There is also a fully stocked pro shop and full service grill and deli.

Waiting.
We were walking. We got to 11 and we started waiting each hole after that. We had 6 players in front of us. 3 men 3 Ladies. This is unacceptable. But a nice course.
Sun City North
Walking rate is phenomenal given the astronomical prices at most courses. That’s about it.
Sand Anyone?
Layout was fine, but every green had a fortress of sand on either side with a tiny opening to aim at. Fine if this is the case on a couple holes, not the majority. Made for a frustrating day for this amateur.
Nice Track
Decent course for a muni. No goofy holes. Tough par threes. Cut through a residential area
I’d go back
Sun City North
Course was in good condition, pace of play a little slow but what usually happens this time of year in Phx.
Nice Layout
Always enjoy playing this course. Check in smooth. Ball dispenser not working but easily rectified by staff. Teed off on time. Had fivesome in front of us with what looked like beginners. Fell behind and tried to move to front most tee but issue was slow play on/near greens. Still played in 4:15 Course in good shape.
Enjoyable Round Great Weather
Check in always smooth. Actually teed off early. Played with a very nice younger couple. Course was in decent shape. Greens are pretty quick. Bunkers were taken care of. Rough is always the same with little grass or bare areas around the green. makes chipping pretty difficult to impossible. Same for most Sun City courses. Played in 4 hours, even with the group in front of us falling a couple holes behind, even riding carts.
Mediocre course - 5-somes are common
Decent value, but mediocre course. Golf carts are an extra charge and they do not have many to rent so be prepared to walk. (they only have about a dozen or so carts.) With the golf cart included the price is comparable to other nicer courses which have plenty of carts to rent. Pace was slower than normal. 5-somes are common. Our group was made into a 5-some. Fairways are cut close almost to the point of becoming a tight lie. The rough is dead grass and hard pan dirt. Greens are also cut very close, not sure why. Approach shots would sometimes bounce to the back of the green if they hit any slope at all when landing. Anything coming in low had no chance of staying on. All greens are raised, most of the rest of the course is flat.
Great bang for your buck
Can’t beat a $35 walking rate for winter in AZ. Course was in solid condition outside of the rough which was dormant with lots of bare spots. Great soft sand in the bunkers and the greens rolled true. Fun 72 layout with 5 par 5s and 5 par 3s. Get to hit every club in the bag.
Poor group pairing!
I don’t know if it was because we were golf now customers are if it is a standard practice, but they put five of us together in a group. There were only two in the group behind us. With five we naturally Played slower than normal. This was the second time that this has been done on one of the Sun City public courses.
Just ok
Was about the only place affordable this time of year. Traditional old school layout that was pretty decent. Greens would not hold though. I would go back if the price is right.
