About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Father and son outing
Played this course many times while living in Reno. I can understand how hard it is this year to maintain the course but the fairways weren’t mowed and we’re very wet. Had to play lift clean and place without any rain. No ball washers available and no wet towel either. Had a gift card to spend there but they couldn’t get it to work so I guess the person who gave it to me as a gift wasted money.
Disappointed
I really love this course and have played it many times but it was in terrible condition.. the sprinklers came on during 3 to 4 holes at different times and locations on the course and it was really annoying!! The bar closed at 6pm on a Friday night when is was 97 degrees outside and we still had 5 holes to go. We couldn’t get anything to drink from the pro shop and ended up getting tepid water from a drinking fountain. I hope they get their act together because this used to be one of my favorite places to play and now it’s disappointing.
Good course for beginners, or for those that don’t want to spend a lot of money, but overall, just okay. No protection from golfers on #1 because of errant shots from the driving range. Needs to have a big netting between the two. Also very wet and many areas with no grass at all. Need a few signs to tell you where to go also
Oh man
I generally love Washoe but I played yesterday and it was literally the worst conditions I have ever played. Course is in terrible shape right now. Like really really bad. I would avoid right now
Slow play
Course is pretty dry, middle of the day staff watering greens, mowing tee boxes, which should be done in the early morning. We had to wait several times on greens and tee boxes for staff to get out of the way in order to play. Group ahead of us were slower than slow 5 1/2 hours to play 18 in 100 degree heat, plus two of the guys in the group ahead of us got into a fight on 9 which in no way is Washoe golf courses fault, that was a first never thought I would see that while golfing. People really need to start being respectful of the game and people around them. Play pace!!
Bang for the Buck
Wide open course to get some golf in. Especially good for beginners. Took my teenage son out for his 3rd time playing and he was able to navigate with little issues. Still offers challenges for moderate players. Pace of play was a little slow. But you never know who you may get stuck behind. Kitchen. Closed at 3:00 so be alert.
Nice little Muni in the middle of reno
I think the prices are a little high for the quality of the course, but you’re paying a little for the convenience of it. Would 100% recommend the course to friends. Front 9 is a little boring, but the back 9 has a few inspired and challenging holes that more than make up for it.
Still the same
I play this now and then, it's convient. It is a low end muni course and all that implies. Greens are slow and bumpy. Dirt not sand in the traps. Lacking basic matainence.
Poor
We were a foursome and played behind a single hitting several ball and a twosome ahead of him. No marshal and looking like an over 5 and a half hour round so we quit after 12 holes
Greens in great shape. Fairways poor in several spots. Tee boxes overall in good condition. A couple fairways overwatered. They were soggy. Going from green to next tee very confusing. This was my 1st time to play this course. I found it very lacking in sign direction to next hole. I am 81+ years in age. My handicap has dramatically in the past 10 yrs. Was a +10 but now most likely a +25 or more.
