Pilot Mountain Golf course

A year ago I booked thru golf now/ tee off for a Sunday tee time and the club pro gave us a hard time because the “club” doesn’t get any money when we book thru one of those websites. So today I called to book a tee time thru the “club” because I understand that times are tough right now and trying to help a local “club” but apparently if you are not a member they are now accepting tee times on Sunday’s now. It’s almost laughable at this point. I guess I will continue to support Cross Creek in Mount Airy because they always a appreciate your business even if you book thru one of those websites or thru the club.

Worst Unfriendly Staff/Incompetent

Beautiful course but the staff overbooks the course and treats the golfers with no respect. No apologies and no accommodation for having to wait an extra hour to tee off. Do yourself a favor and play somewhere where they appreciate your business.

Hidden "Mountain" Gem

If you didn't know where it was, Pilot Knob would be almost impossible to find. However, it is definitely worth a trip to play a fun and challenging mountain course. It plays about 400 yards longer than the card says, which makes it a fun test. The fairways are beautiful, and the Zoysia greens roll smoothly but are devilish if you're above the hole. (They did recently sprig 3 greens with bermuda-- #3, 11, and 14). It has a number of good risk/reward holes, and several forced carries that you would expect from a mountain course. For anyone looking for mountain golf close to the Triad, this is the place to go.
