Slow, slow, slow
I made it through 5 holes in 1.75 hours with a wait on the 6th tee....I was outta there. No evidence of anyone encouraging a reasonable pace of play.
I've always enjoyed the course and challenge in the wind by the Bay, but this was the worst I've seen. At least the greens were good for a change, as they have been variable in condition in my experience. At that pace, however, or the expectation of 5.5 hours rounds, I won't make an effort to play there any time soon.
Beware of the 5:30am Tee Time
Reserved the 5:30am tee time in the hope that we could swing 18 holes in before work. Front nine was great, we were at the turn in well under 2 hours. And then we hit a wall. They had started people on the back 9. They were all walking, too.
Pace of play dropped like a stone, and we ended up leaving before we could finish the round. Very disappointing.
Average course.
Shoreline is an average course. Average maintenance. Staff is very friendly. Food is average.
FORE!
Having layout on scorecard, or pictures at the holes, would be aid determinng if dog leg left/right on blind shots.
Jurassic Park
I usually go there at least once a month, so I knew that there's lots of gooses. But, yesterday, it was lika Jurassic Park at 10th & 13& 18 holes. Especially, at the 10th hole, there were over 200 gooses. on the middle of fairway, so I just hit left side of fairway not to hit them. If you hit the middle of fairway, I'm sure you would feel sorry for nature.
Best value for money
Its a decent price for a Friday afternoon. The pairing was good. the greens are good and all in all it is a great course.
Perfect Sat
6:00 t time only walkers before us moving out and continued great pace. Never had any one behind us . 4 hr round. Greens almost perfect maybe need to roll them. Hadn't played in here 9 yrs. I will make a point to return.
Course is in good Shape
Given the drought, the course is in good condition. Greens were plugged a short time ago and still a little bit bumpy & sandy.
Good way to spend an afternoon
If you play 18, you will spend the entire afternoon there. Thursday 1pm tee time resulted in a 4 hour round. Really seems to get stacked up. This might have to do with the amount of walkers vs getting a cart. I will be walking next time rather than getting a cart.
It's on the bay so it's going to be windy but it's not horrible and you do get a chance to get the wind from all sides at some point, so it evens out.
Course is in pretty good shape considering the drought. Greens and tee boxes are in pretty darn good shape.
Will definitely play there again (it's close and price is relatively good) but will walk next time.
Fun to play
Had a great time at this course. We didn't expect or really want to play in a group but somehow a 2 turned to a 4 but it was still a good game. We were almost done with the 17th hole and they told us we can't play till the end because the workers water to go home. For that much money, we played the last hole. Very rude. Besides that, the course was great and most people were friendly. Food was delicious too. Overall I'd reccomend. Play early if you can.
Too many gopher holes
The course has a good layout, the major issues is the many gopher holes around the rough and too much goose droppings at certain holes.
fairways a bit patchy
Even though the course has reclaimed water, and was actually wet in some places, the fairways still need help. Bunkers are being renovated, which will be great in the future.
Great bang for the buck
The course is in great shape. It cost me $41 to play 18 holes with a cart. Very good deal. Very enjoyable round.
Golfing in the Land Of Google
Nestled between Google & the San Francisco Bay sits the Shoreline Golf Links and it boasts the Bay Area standards, winds and water. Like other courses dotting the shores of the Bay, this track feels the winds easily and uses water to keep the golfers honest.
Straight shots are rewarded though the greens can get tricky. Playing the winds becomes a necessary skill to score well here.
Great Friday course!
A great course for Friday play, not overly crowded, finished under 4.5 hours. Go early due to Google traffic in the area but course is fun. Bunkers need work so stay out of them! :-)
poor quality track.
I went out this past Thursday to give this track a chance after playing three or four holes I could tell it was going to be a bad experience. pace of play was incredibly slow the fairways had no grass the greens we're not maintained well at all and just an all around horrible golf course.save your money and play somewhere that's worth it.
Nice layout, a lot of fun shots to play
Shoreline is a very nice layout and a perfect place to stop if flying into SFO with work in Silicon Valley Area. The price is right, and staff was very nice.
Different tees for all playing abilities, seems like it is always a little windy, but it makes the shots more fun. Very fun setup and you'll use most of the clubs in your bag. Given the drought, the course conditions were not all that horrible. I also did not see all of the goose droppings other reviewers complained about. There were some geese and it seems strange they don't hire dogs or at least put out the fake dog signs that seem to work at other courses. There was a ranger in a cart chasing the geese throughout the day. I did hear the rounds on weekends can be very long, but did not experience that in the two times I played that were both weekdays.
Course is ok but cafe serve was not
I'm too sad at cafe after playing. Here didn't accept my own coffee holder, only can use paper cups . And also I ordered some sandwich , after then they said no more that one, it's just after I paid...
Shoreline in Mountain View
Many holes in the course caused by groundhogs pose a hazardous risk of tripping due to stepping in a hole. Course has lots of character in doglegs, sand traps, lenght, elevated greens and water hazards. Lots of squirrels everywhere checking out hit balls and carts for food. Pace was good, 4 hours. Fairways need work. Greens were in very good shape and very consistent. Some sand traps were ground under repair. Nice course to play and test your game in windy conditions. I'm from the East Coast but will play this again when I return to California.
Good conditions considering the California drought
The course is in good shape considering the California drought. The lakes are very dry and there are some environmental areas replacing places there used to be water. The sand traps are not in good shaped and marked as ground under repair. The greens are in good shape recovering well from being plugged a few weeks ago. Overall a good golf experience.
