Golfing in the Land Of Google
Nestled between Google & the San Francisco Bay sits the Shoreline Golf Links and it boasts the Bay Area standards, winds and water. Like other courses dotting the shores of the Bay, this track feels the winds easily and uses water to keep the golfers honest.
Straight shots are rewarded though the greens can get tricky. Playing the winds becomes a necessary skill to score well here.
Great Friday course!
A great course for Friday play, not overly crowded, finished under 4.5 hours. Go early due to Google traffic in the area but course is fun. Bunkers need work so stay out of them! :-)
poor quality track.
I went out this past Thursday to give this track a chance after playing three or four holes I could tell it was going to be a bad experience. pace of play was incredibly slow the fairways had no grass the greens we're not maintained well at all and just an all around horrible golf course.save your money and play somewhere that's worth it.
Nice layout, a lot of fun shots to play
Shoreline is a very nice layout and a perfect place to stop if flying into SFO with work in Silicon Valley Area. The price is right, and staff was very nice.
Different tees for all playing abilities, seems like it is always a little windy, but it makes the shots more fun. Very fun setup and you'll use most of the clubs in your bag. Given the drought, the course conditions were not all that horrible. I also did not see all of the goose droppings other reviewers complained about. There were some geese and it seems strange they don't hire dogs or at least put out the fake dog signs that seem to work at other courses. There was a ranger in a cart chasing the geese throughout the day. I did hear the rounds on weekends can be very long, but did not experience that in the two times I played that were both weekdays.
Course is ok but cafe serve was not
I'm too sad at cafe after playing. Here didn't accept my own coffee holder, only can use paper cups . And also I ordered some sandwich , after then they said no more that one, it's just after I paid...
Shoreline in Mountain View
Many holes in the course caused by groundhogs pose a hazardous risk of tripping due to stepping in a hole. Course has lots of character in doglegs, sand traps, lenght, elevated greens and water hazards. Lots of squirrels everywhere checking out hit balls and carts for food. Pace was good, 4 hours. Fairways need work. Greens were in very good shape and very consistent. Some sand traps were ground under repair. Nice course to play and test your game in windy conditions. I'm from the East Coast but will play this again when I return to California.
Good conditions considering the California drought
The course is in good shape considering the California drought. The lakes are very dry and there are some environmental areas replacing places there used to be water. The sand traps are not in good shaped and marked as ground under repair. The greens are in good shape recovering well from being plugged a few weeks ago. Overall a good golf experience.
Great Layout
While not in pristine condition, it still was a good course! Greens rolled true and in great shape. Excellent variety of long/short holes. Par 3's were demanding and a good challenge. Certainly a course worth trying if you have not played it yet!
Course review
Not a bad track but the fairways were pretty torn up and the greens had just been aerated in there defense. They should of notified us prior to booking on golf now. An enjoying experience just sub par conditions even for a public track.
Too bad
Closest course to my house and it simply has become unplayable. It's just not fun to deal with the bare lies, the slow play and the humps and bumps of the greens that were never designed to be there. Sorry to have to write this and hopeful that some day soon someone will step up and return this once fine track to its former state.
Junior friendly
I have a junior daughter that plays... The staff was very jr friendly !! Greens are sneaky fast !! If most of the bunkers were not under repair I would have went 4 stars for overall value ! I will go again !
Construction in-process
Parking lot has been under construction for some time making longer walks and difficult access to clubhouse. Many sand traps were roped off as ground under repair.Good pace of play with a few waits-took 4 !/2 hrs for round.
Too slow
The course condition is okay. But it was too slow. We had to wait each hole. We have played only 16 holes during four and half hours. I will not go back to play this course for a while.
Not the best, but not bad either!
First time playing, I was greeted warmly in the pro shop, and was on my way to the 1st tee in a matter of minutes. There was no started when I got there and since I was playing as a single, I just jumped in with the threesome that was ready to tee off. The greens were in decent shape, but the fairways had some bare spots. Over-all, a decnet local course. Pace of play was slow, which meant I only got in nine holes do to a late start. Faster pace of play and I could have played 19. Never saw a Marshall anywhere on the course.
Foggy course
I've played here before, about 10 years ago. Always stayed away because of the stories of bird droppings. Course was in good shape. It's a challenging course, especially when the fog came in. Other then that it was a great day, course was in good shape, challenging lay out. I'll def be back, kicking myself for taking so long to get back here
shoreline
I play here from time to time. I've never seen the course in better shape. for a long time the bunkers did not have proper sand in them - now they do. As you play there is a lot of wildlife to look at - birds.
poor tee time managment
I played here before but not at 4pm. There is no starter at first tee. The staff at the counter, while friendly, allowed too many walked on to interfere with booked tee time golfers.
Checking in queue was long and no extra staff to help.
Green condition is not very good.
Overall, a good experience after the first tee.
Shoreline is great value
I highly recommend the Shoreline golf course. The greens are recovering from recently being aerated. The fairways and rough are in great condition for the most part as they are liberally watered. Marshalls and volunteers are constantly keeping the coots and geese moving away from the course. The second hole is one of the most difficult par 4's in the country. The views of the bay and the Santa Clara valley are spectacular.
Shoreline Golf
The course is in surprisingly good condition considering the drought. Pace of play was decent 4:30. Could have been faster but players are religious. They like to play congregational golf.
