Where Was The Beverage and Snack Cart
This was my first time playing the course. I was very disappointed that there was no beverage cart on a Sunday all day!! We had close to 80 degree temperatures and despite some windy holes, no cart. I spoke to the marshall on hole 16 and he said that the restaurant is in charge of the cart and because it was Mother's Day the restaurant was slammed and was never able to send out any carts. In fact, the phone to order on hole #9 was not being answered!!!! My point is easy here-we are paying customers just like the restaurant patrons and in many cases are spending more money than a breakfast or lunch customer, so we deserved beverage and snack cart service while spending 4 hours in the sun out on the course. Mother's Day was not a surprise so extra staff should have been brought in to service the golfers out on the course.
OK course
The course is ok...it used to be in fabulous condition...no dead spots, everything looking very high end....now it looks to be a victim of budget cuts. The range is in better condition than the course. The back 9 is much nicer than the front 9 as it's protected from the winds and for whatever reason rarely any dead spots!
Shoreline May2014
Played here a year ago and the reason I've stayed away is the course was getting run down. Now they're making an effort and it's in really good shape, still a work in progress. Fairways are improved and greens are pretty good, rolling nice. Good value if you get a discounted green fee.
greens in great shape
I got out just ahead of a senior outing. course was pretty wide open. some interesting holes with fairly fast greens. the fairways while closely cut were patchy in places despite numerous groundskeepers. the attention showed on the greens once you got used to the speed. overall I look forward to returning.
good value
the location, price and overall course condition make this a great value
Best Muni for the money
What a relief to play a course that enforce's pace of play. Love the philosophy there. Thank you!
Needs Help
Ok I was going to just write all these things seriously wrong with the course and obviously how its run.. But I wanted to be very honest and sincere with out sounded like a jerk , but if any one has played this course in the last week or so would indeed agree as I say that this course needs help big time maybe a full up grade indeed.. It took us 5 hours to play 18 because no marshal and nobody seems to care when they are walking.. Indeed needs help here and like I said go play it we played on a Monday go try a sat ??
I hope the course gets the attention it needs it has a pretty cool lay out..
Slow play and lots of bird pop and ground squirrels
Not a good course if you want to finish a round in under hours 4-1/2 hours. We left after three holes which took over one hour!
Good layout
I like the design of this course lots of sharp turns. It can be challenging at times but generally a very easy course. Lots of bird droppings everywhere that is the main downside.
Shoreline after the storm
The course was in pretty good condition after the recent rain, that we much needed. Due to the rain it was cart path only for the carts, which slowed play. Probably a good idea to keep the carts on the paths that day, as the course doesn't drain real well, but was adequate. Wind was out of a total different direction then ever before when I played the course. Made #11 and #17 much easier par 3s. All in all it was a pretty good day. No rain (until the 18th tee) lucky for us. Wind was down and temperature was cool but tolerable with just a sweater. Wish there was some cure for the coots and the geese, but I understand they have tried just about everything. With all the birds and ground squirrels something needs to be done, but I don't know what it is. Golf isn't so cool when almost every shot ends up with bird droppings on it.
A good course gone bad
Shoreline has always been an interesting and varied layout, but difficult to keep in good condition, possibly due to proximity to the salty bay. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years, the course condition has gotten noticeably worse: the fairways are patchy, frequently muddy, the rough extremely variable., the rapidly proliferating ground squirrels digging everywhere, and the greens lumpy. The pace has also slowed considerably, now frequently over 5 hours on weekends even with a dawn start. I love this course, but can no longer recommend it.
Freeze warning
Had the first tee time of the day and they had a freeze warning. waited 15 minutes to tee off. Greens were great, a lot of waterfowl on the course, fairly wide-open
Course has been well maintained, especially greens.
I wish you could get rid of all the birds droppings and control the
birds population.Other than this, this course is really fun to play.
Much more enjoyable than an afternoon in the office :)
Pro shop Staff very courteous, professional and helpful. Avian life on the course makes the round less enjoyable than it would otherwise be. As a single, was paired with three very nice people who play the course frequently -- glad they were gracious -- no on-course visual aids makes it difficult to envision some of the holes from the tee.
Great for the price!
The fairways and greens were in very good condition. Cart paths a little rough but overall I liked it.
Good average course
Tee boxes need rework. Some fairways had lots of bare spots. Greens were in good shape.
Lots of slow play considering several marshall.
Considering several marshalls around, it looks like they are more concern on their visibility, rather than ensuring smooth fairway traffic. Since majority of players were walking, using cart is useless with this kind of course condition, even on weekdays (I played Monday). At any rate, I will still recommend this to friends who have the luxury of time to spend, with limited budget to play.
Shoreline
Overall good condition, goose drop-ins is still a problem, but not as bad as previous years. Greens were in OK condition.
Great value for beginners and intermediate golfers
Shoreline is one of the better muni in the Bay Area. You can usually play for ~$30 walking. It is a very pleasant course to walk. The difficulty of the course are well suited to beginners and intermediate players. Even scratch players would find it challenging if play from black on a windy day. Three par 3s are all over water and difficult. My favorite hole is hole 9 which is a great risk/reward hole. You can cut the corner to try to get two on for a eagle. The condition of the course is not very good though. A lot of bare spots on the fairway. Although the greens are in pretty good shape.
Greens where much better and still as fast since the last time I played the course. Fairways need work, still pleaged with bird dropings!
There has been a significant improvement in the greens. They where smooth and true with no significant iperfections that where on most every green the last time I played the course, still as fast as I remember. There is work to do on the fairways, they are still pleaged by bird dropings, ground in repair and the squirrel population has grown, but no lost balls down squirrel holes!
