About
The “Mo Willie,” Austin’s third municipal course, has some character: it served as the home of Harvey Penick’s legendary golf teams, two of which won NCAA Championships back when Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw graced the fairways. And it’s named after Morris Williams, Jr., one of the best golfers to ever come out of the city. Now Austin’s airport has moved south, and this difficult Leon Howard design is a bit more peaceful.
Howard’s layout requires all types of shots, and is known for its small, slightly elevated greens. The best hole on the front is the dogleg left, 540-yard No. 2, even though some would argue that the 187-yard No. 3 is one of Austin’s all-time best. It drops 50 feet from tee to green over a pond. The back side is highlighted by water holes 11-14, with both 11 and 12 requiring approaches over the wet stuff.
Getting there : From the Austin Airport, turn left on Manor Road and the clubhouse is 100 yards down the street. The entrance is on the right.

Best Public City Golf Course in Austin Texas!
The price is always fair and the golf course fairways and greens are always in great shape!
Friendly staff. fun course.
Fun course to play. Nice layout. Very friendly Staff.
Greens were not perfect but very playable.
Aerated fairways and sand on greens
The course is coming along for summer. It is in good condition BUT just wanted to make you aware of two details.
1. The fairways have been punched. You will not get roll because there are clumps of dirt everywhere.
2. The filled in ball marks on the greens with sand. Sand spots are all over the green. I have never seen this before at any golf course.
Good Muni
Muni layout with three pretty cool signature holes. Greens were sanded and still growing in in a few places. Some pretty weedy rough with dallis grass on the back nine. Good clubhouse and range. Typical metro muni value.
Great shape other than greens
Greens had been punched and were sanded, fairways were great would give it 2 or 3 weeks to play due to the condition of the greens
well management
Pace of Play on Sunday was good and controlled by Marshall. Some greens has too much sandy and damaged. course layout was very good and I enjoyed some challenges.
Still one of my favorite courses in Austin
I've played this course countless times and never grow tired of it. It's an amazingly friendly course so if you shank your drive, you'll still likely have some sort of shot up to the green. The course is in amazing condition right now and the greens are rolling well. Can't wait to get back out there!
Great value/best Muny course
Absolutely the best Muny course in Austin. A good mix of elevations and left and right turns with some fun longer or 3’s. Will likely play again next week.

I have played this course many times and find it enjoyable every single time. I like the layout.

Old Friendly
Morris Williams is like an old friend. Always a pleasure to see the various terrain features. The course layout keeps things interesting. Super friendly staff, very welcoming. It's not like this everywhere. Greens super slick, head's up. Course was lush and green and just beautiful. Sufficient water features to keep things changing up. I love Morris Williams.
