Shandin Hills Golf Club

Staff was as always great, Unfortunately the quality of the course does not match the price. Paid 76 for a Sunday morning tee time expecting the greens to be well kept considering they punched and sanded them a week or two before, of course I wasn’t expecting a pristine green but the sand would be clumped in certain areas and there was already weeds growing out of them. It used to be better kept but unfortunately it’s as it is, I think if they just fixed their greens I could justify the price

This course has recently become completely run down. The negligence and waste is not being hidden. I cannot understand how people have the audacity to charge money to play at this course in the current condition.

The grass, both in the fairway and in the rough, is often over one foot tall. There are literal ponds of water throughout the course due to broken sprinklers that the staff has simply left to run, flooding large portions of the course enough to where our carts were almost stuck. The staff told us the greens were punched and sanded, this was not accurate. The greens might have been punched three months ago, but different types of grass is growing throughout the patches of dirt and sand. Their solution to these issues seems to have been simply dumping large amounts of sand on the greens.

It is sad to see this happen to a decent course.

The course has an ok but confusing layout. (hard to find the next hole). The bunkers were pure hardpack and played like a dirt cartpath. The fairways were not mown and were very much like rough. We spent lots of time trying to find balls hit in the center of the fairway. We found many balls in deep grass where they should be no deep grass. Greens were sanded so could not tell good or bad. Course conditions were awful, multiple muddy wet spots and multiple dry brown spots. If they maintained the course it might be ok, right now it's a unmown goat track.

It would have been nice to know ahead of time that the greens were covered with sand. Also, we lost multiple balls on fairway shots because even in the middle of a few fairways, the grass was overgrown.

Went to play and was so disappointed with the course. Granted, I have played there before and the course is in OK condition but tolerable. This time it was horrendous. The grass is just growing and every fairway is dried, it’s all dirt. The greens are decent. I heard they are supposed to redo the whole golf course. Right now they are redoing the driving range. Supposedly they had a fund raiser to fix the course. They raised $50,000. I really don’t think that will be enough to fix this place. I will stay away until they either fix it or tear it down.

Fairways were horrible, either dirt or long swamp grass. Hit the ball in middle of fairways and lose the ball. I’ll not play there again unless they fix it up

They should not be charging full price for this course right now it’s in horrible condition they should be only charging $35 it’s that bad fairways are horrible thick patches of grass in the middle of the fairway. The greens are horrible thick and unrolled also why are they not informing customers / golfers before they book their T time that the course is not in good condition and if the golfers still want to play there for full price, that’s on them no different than when you let us know when they punched the greens. The price is lowered and we are informed before we book the teatime, but they’re not doing this at Shandin Hills

Played SH all my golfing days but will not be going back any time soon. Fairways were dirt or dead grass except around unmaintained sprinklers, Greens were horrible with knotgrass galore. Appears no maintenance is being performed. Almost looks like it will close soon but theyre putting new range netting? ? Sad.

Played there with some buddies on Saturday and for the price they charge I was expecting a playable course but I was FAR off. They moved the tee box on #1 so the par 5 plays only 250 yds out... and all of the tee boxes are basically rough and all fairways are dirt or close to it. The cartpath's surrounding the greens were hard to get out of... oh wait those were their BUNKERS. Just a terrible experience overall.

Shandin Hills has great potential. The layout is fun and relaxing. I didn’t find it overly challenging. The driving range was closed when I went, but I believe it will be opening in a few days. I think they were fixing the nets on the range. They do have a very small chipping and putting area that was open. Both of which matched the conditions of the greens on the course. The course conditions needs work. Most of the tee boxes were overgrown. There were a lot of dry patches on the fairways as well. The golf carts do not have any restrictions that I could tell so, people drive the carts right up next to the greens. I’m sure that doesn’t help. The greens were decent enough, a bit fluffy when I went. They rolled decent though. The signature 7th hole has a very nice view. Pace of play was great on the front. But I caught up to all of the groups on hole 12. From there there was a lot of waiting. All in all, it wasn’t horrible. I’ve definitely played courses in worst shape.

Third time playing this course but by far in the worse condition ever. Green in really bad shape and not worth the 70 dollars to play let alone the drive to get there.

I’ve always been a fan of Shandin Hills; the good and the bad. Still love the layout. However, this last time I played it was probably the worst I’ve played it. There were lots of dry patches mixed with over grown fescue mud patches in the fairway. I’ve seen this course through its ups and downs and am confident that it will get better. I’m hopeful that it’s just growing pains from overdue maintenance. Nevertheless, I grew up playing on that course with my dad and will always be a loyal fan. Praying for better times Shandin!

Do not play the course absolutely terrible conditions, horrible uneven grass fairways squirrel gopher hose all over the course your ball are dropping into a gopher hole worst experience ever. It is not worth one penny.

Course was so bad!! Broken water pipes on the fairways flooding all over the course mud on the fairways some fairways with grass was dead. The greens had four different kinds of grass on them. Worst greens I’ve ever played on. Can’t even read the line because there’s a different type of grass growing on each line, worst experience at a golf course so far in my life. .
