Nestled in the foothills of eastern Ventura County, Tierra Rejada Golf Club is known for its picturesque setting and stunning views. The club overlooks the Reagan Presidential Library. Tierra Rejada is unique in that it offers a formidable test for low handicappers from the championship tees but it is also accessible to mid and high handicappers thanks to the Players Course. The 5,600-yard Players Course is a "course within a course" that was designed to keep the game fun for golfers who may not be looking for a tough test. Even though it may be shorter, both golf courses still provide a challenge. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout thanks to the rolling hills and there are a variety of hazards coming into play including water and strategically placed bunkers.

SLOW SLOW SLOW

The course let a large group of players go out as a group early and clearly none of these people understood golf. The Marshall didn’t do anything to keep up pace. We played the front 9 in 2 3/4 hours with 2 or sometimes 3 groups waiting on every tee, just brutal. Ended up quitting after 16 at the 5:30 mark.

Not a walk in the park

I love this course for the scenic beauty and demanding variations. Even for a great golfer, this course is a beast. Long, requiring good positioning, or you are sunk. Whatever. It makes you want to come back and use the knowledge of problem positions and put it to work.

The par 3's are a relief. All in all, a course that will improve one's game and challenge anyone!

Very challenging course

The course is very challenging and the greens were firm and fast. Pace was a little slow. Checking in was very easy and the staff were very nice and helpful. I will be back to play again soon.

Must Play

This is a very good golf course with a little bit of everything. Straightaway par 5s to uphill par 4s to hitting off of a cliff.

The course and terrain are very unique. The course is fun!! The views are great! Depending on which tees you play, it is all you want!

Fairways were in pretty good shape, greens were very good, but toward the end of the day they get bumpy.

Cart died on the 15th hole, they had a new one for us before we finished the hole.

If you want a challenge with great views play Tierra Rejada!!

Good Course

Layout is challenging but fun. You need to be able to carry the ball over hazards and cliffs that are intimidating. Wind gets gusting and adds another variable that doesn't make the course any easier. The pace of play was horrendous. We teed off at 12:50 and finished the 17th in the complete darkness, didn't get 18 holes in. There were no rangers and the one group that held the entire course up didn't let anyone play through. We waited on every single shot of every hole (no exaggeration). Other than that it was a ton of fun and will definitely be back.

14 good holes...

TR has 14 really good golf holes. The greens are good, not great, but good. Overall the course is in nice shape. The bunker restoration is great. Sadly the layout suffers from having 4 really bad golf holes sprinkled in.

Entertaining layout, slow pace

Of the handful of courses I have played in the area during visits, this one was definitely the most memorable layout. Elevation changes and views on different holes were entertaining. Only two downsides on this day: (1) the uphill fairways were cut so short that the ball could and did literally roll 150 yards back down the fairway (2) pace of play was excruciatingly slow and not addressed by the course. We teed off at 12:40 and we cruising along until the 6th hole where two groups were on the tee box when we arrived. From there it creeped. We waited at least 30 minutes at the turn to tee off at 10. At 5:15 we stopped playing after just 14 holes due to darkness. We should have easily gotten 18 in even based on their posted pace of play of 4 hours 40 minutes for 18 holes which seems slow to me.
