Tierra Rejada Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of eastern Ventura County, Tierra Rejada Golf Club is known for its picturesque setting and stunning views. The club overlooks the Reagan Presidential Library. Tierra Rejada is unique in that it offers a formidable test for low handicappers from the championship tees but it is also accessible to mid and high handicappers thanks to the Players Course. The 5,600-yard Players Course is a "course within a course" that was designed to keep the game fun for golfers who may not be looking for a tough test. Even though it may be shorter, both golf courses still provide a challenge. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout thanks to the rolling hills and there are a variety of hazards coming into play including water and strategically placed bunkers.

Good Course
Layout is challenging but fun. You need to be able to carry the ball over hazards and cliffs that are intimidating. Wind gets gusting and adds another variable that doesn't make the course any easier. The pace of play was horrendous. We teed off at 12:50 and finished the 17th in the complete darkness, didn't get 18 holes in. There were no rangers and the one group that held the entire course up didn't let anyone play through. We waited on every single shot of every hole (no exaggeration). Other than that it was a ton of fun and will definitely be back.
14 good holes...
TR has 14 really good golf holes. The greens are good, not great, but good. Overall the course is in nice shape. The bunker restoration is great. Sadly the layout suffers from having 4 really bad golf holes sprinkled in.
Entertaining layout, slow pace
Of the handful of courses I have played in the area during visits, this one was definitely the most memorable layout. Elevation changes and views on different holes were entertaining. Only two downsides on this day: (1) the uphill fairways were cut so short that the ball could and did literally roll 150 yards back down the fairway (2) pace of play was excruciatingly slow and not addressed by the course. We teed off at 12:40 and we cruising along until the 6th hole where two groups were on the tee box when we arrived. From there it creeped. We waited at least 30 minutes at the turn to tee off at 10. At 5:15 we stopped playing after just 14 holes due to darkness. We should have easily gotten 18 in even based on their posted pace of play of 4 hours 40 minutes for 18 holes which seems slow to me.
Course strikes back
Every time I play this course I always say I would never come back. The front 9 has some weird holes. Shooting over barrancas and hidden greens. It’s not a forgiving course you really have to be on your game. Bring a lot of balls with you as the course gods will surely take them. Back 9 is a little better. More like a normal course. Over all very challenging.
Difficult but Fun
It’s a tough course with some real tight landing areas and tricky greens. I would love to play again and be able to figure out the ins and outs. Make sure you bring plenty of balls if your driving accuracy is off, because out of bounds is off the reservation on most holes!
Golf cart died and had to walk back to pro shop. Pro shop was closed, unable to find a manager to let them know there golf cart was died at hole 12-17. Saw no course marshal all day. Found pace of play delayed drastically due to slow group holding up 6 groups that did not finish the game before dark.
Very difficult play
Playiing tbis course not played before will be a difficult endevore. Specific spots to drive tbe ball is a must. The vfee s fast and reading a putt is difficult. There is 4 tee boxes that belps using your 3 wood on the box is smart at times.
Acquired Taste
I’ve played this course many times and I’m just beginning to get it. Front side has some odd layouts, blind shots etc., really favoring folks with local knowledge of ideal landing spots and bail out areas. Views are quite amazing from up top. Back nine is more conventional. Fairways are very hard so you get extra roll whether you want it or not. Overall not a bad place to get to know.
WINDY OUTING
UNFORTUNATELY, WE PLAYED ON A WINDY DAY WHEN THE POWER WAS OUT AT THE FACILITY. SUPER DIFFICULT IN THE WIND. STAFF WAS MINIMAL.
14 good holes, 4 terrible ones
This is a nice course in pretty good shape. It can get slow, but never terrible. If only they could completely redesign 3, 4, 8, & 10 it would be excellent. 8 is the "signature" hole and it's one of the worst hole designs in golf.
