Slow pace
Welcomed; starter was helpful. But pace of play was bad--2::45 to play the front 9.
Quit then.....stopped at desk to tell them and was told 5 hours was just normal here, and if they pushed people just got mad. I guess their marketing strategy is: if you want to play at a reasonable 4:30 pace for 18, go elsewhere. So I will.
Bad Experience with Starter and Manager
While waiting on the first tee the starter came up to us very aggressively told us we had to go back to the starter hut so he could check us in. We could not I understand the need to go back to the hut because he had his clipboard in his hand and there were seven or eight carts lined up behind us. He was the most aggressive and nasty starter that I have run across in my 40 years of the golf. After the round I asked to speak to a manager and the manager said that the starter was the nicest guy and he knew for a fact that things were not as I described.how he could make such a statement when he wasnt even on the tee is crazy. Irregardless, the manager should have simply apologized instead of making things worse. Poor customer service. Needless to say I will not be returning to Lakes of Taylor.
Great course
Always enjoy playing here. Course is usually in good shape. Pace of play was absolutely horrible today as we were stuck behind a three some walking for 12 holes. They would not let us play through and no ranger out on a weekend. Some holes we waited 15 minutes or longer to tee off. I don't understand why courses allow walkers on the weekends when it's busiest. Starter was very friendly, but the other staff seemed cold.
Outing Ahead of Us = 4.5 Hr Front 9
This course is always challenging and extremely well kept. Howveer, an outing of at least 20+ tee’d off about 15 minutes before us and absolutely ruined our experience. We had 20-25 Minute waits on the tee boxes from hole 2 thru 6. Once again, completely ruined the experiences of my brother and I and the twosome that we were paired with. Will be forever calling ahead to ensure no outings are scheduled immediately prior to my tee time. Huge disappointment.
Amenities ?
Reading the courses website description and the great things this place had to offer sounded promising. Soon after arrival we were disappointed to find out the course restaurant was closed on Sundays. The only food available was some old hotdogs and random snack items, which wouldn't have been an issue except they boasted about the "amenities". Course plays well, not very long and the greens are pretty flat. Good fairways and above average practice facility. Lots of water and enough long rough to keep you honest
As usual, the starter was surly. I had purchased a round as a single and was told I would be joining a single and twosome. Starter said he thought the twosome had already left. He said I could go out alone. I asked how far ahead the next group was and it seemed he did not want to bother telling me. I glanced at the tee sheet and determined the group was probably on the second hole so I decided to tee off and play two balls. Caught the twosome on the fourth hole and really started waiting on #7. I was at the tee on 7 as they tee'd off but they ignored me. Faster players, particularly singles, often become invisible to the group ahead. As I waited on the fairway of #8, a ranger came by and talked to me. He handed me two balls he had found and told me that the two players in front of me were employees. After waiting a long time on #9 and 10, I decided to skip a couple of holes and was clear the rest of the way. The course' condition was as good as I have ever seen it. Greens were smooth and true, bunkers were very playable (a condition becoming more rare in SE Michigan) fairways were firm and the ball rolled well on them. Lakes of Taylor is a quality course that would benefit from a bit more attention to customer service. I still recommend playing there.
Great Course
Loved playing here. Was in for the Michigan game. Everything about this course was perfect. Made our weekend complete. Will be back.
Too slow
5 hrs 10 minutes. Rangers worried about golf carts and not group 3 holes behind.
Fantastic course
This is probably the best course I have played this year. Fairways and rough are in excellent condition. Greens are fast with lots of slope but fair. Love the layout and price.
Best course in the area but...
Pace of play was and always is way too slow. Over 6 hours to play 18 and the staff does absolutely nothing to enforce pace of play. 3 groups on every hole is entirely too much. This course has always been the slowest around and it's the main reason I only play it once a year.
Great condition, well maintained, championship course.
Fantastic play every hole, for long hitters and low handicappers. Can be a challenge for seniors or beginners, or high handicappers. Will play again this Saturday weekend.
Decent
Nice course close to home. Would never play there at their regular prices.
Nice course. Not so friendly staff especially the starter. Very cranky!
Lakes of Taylor with friends
Mix up with Lakes of Taylor and Golf Now caused alot of confusion and extra work for me. It was finally resolved but wasted time for me!
Beautiful course, great layout.
Everything was great except for the traps. Less than 1/2 inch separates the ball from a rock hard surface. I'm a good sand player and could not get the club underneath the ball. Only one or two traps had any sand to work with. It made a very enjoyable golf day unenjoyable. Will not play there again unless that problem is addressed. Too bad. I love the course,
