This course is challenging
The course plays long with a lot of uneven lies. The fairways are lush for ball striking however you need to analyze your lie to get the ball in position on the large undulating greens. You will need every club in the bag. Our group had plenty of fun with near misses and almost makes for birdies and pars. We will play it again soon. Although the name is Lakes, I found ample fairway room to avoid the water hazards.
Tough but fun!
A hidden jewel in Taylor! Course in awesome condition and very friendly staff.
Excellent track!
The nicest track downriver.
The course is well kept, the greens are true and fast.
The staff is as professional as they come, I lost a wallet on the course with a ton of cash etc. returned by grounds crew the next morning without a dollar missing!
They don't over book tee times & Pace is just that, a pace that is very acceptable at any start time. I will definitely play this course many times this summer!
Another try....same result...
Golf is more then just the course.
It's the experience and the golfers using etiquette when playing...when your a god awful slow threesome who can't sink a putt but spends minutes lining up and taking time away from the rest of us then please allow groups to move ahead. Wow they were horrible! So like before someone in the group called for ranger and like before he arrived and spent more time arguing with us then working...and so it became about us and so we left after 11 holes and 4 hours of a threesome thinking they are playing the masters!
And the staff refusing to work bcuz they spent more time arguing with us then doing what could have been done quicker....so thanks again city of Taylor
Your reputation remains
Great course for the price!
This course features a lot of challenging holes and nice views! Golf carts are nice and the course is kept up very well. Driving range and putting green are very spacious, would definetly recommend this course to anyone!
Ok for Price
First impression was wow nice club house but went downhill from there. Checked in and headed for restroom. Much to my surprise it is outside the main clubhouse area. Entered and was totally disgusted.Feces on the walls that appeared to be there for sometime. Needless to say I held it and waited to go later. The course is OK but greens still recovering from aeration. Lost a number of balls just off fairways in Rough and leaves. I don't want to give this course a bad rap but a few areas need attention. I would have loved to play this course in its prime but to drive 24 miles I will play elsewhere where I know details are key to good golf. Cart bath only made for a long round.Maybe a change in ownership is needed.
great shape
hot deal of the day .course is in really great shape.nice greens. some really challenging holes.would come back any day of the week
Following the flood
Course was wide and long. Plenty of room for error. We played this right after the 4 days of rain in late September, so it was cart path only. Luckily they were not busy so we did not have to run all over. As a woman, I would play this course again. I played it from the gold's, so one tee up, and enjoyed myself. I recommend it as a good course to play!
Once the best course in the area....but now....
Known as downriver...this area isn't known for its golf courses...until lakes of taylor. It was a gem in a blue collar area...just priced out of reach of the common folk, but still frequented as a course worth the extra cash. Over the years the course has declined slowly and steadily into average condition while still pricing high for the area. Now it is a course
I will not ever again golf giving the conditions and price, but mostly due to a ranger who tried multiple times to provoke conflict and without reason or provocation. I am a RN with 7 years psych experience and gifted in being able to de-escalate conflict and verbal attacks...but this ranger resembled a patient on the unit. He is the worker that everybody allows to blow up and act a fool
Because they say "that's just how he is....".
My friend and I were paired up with 2 others and we're having a good time together....3rd hole and out of nowhere there was a back up of 3 groups. We called (given the history of the course and it's Known 6 hr rounds) and asked how and why...and if something could be done...they said it would be handled and we accepted...pace was slow but we accepted and finished the front 9 in 3.5 hours....assured that the back would be wide open we continued our round. On the 10th hole par 5 we tee'd off and by our second shot realized we had to slow given the foursome in front chasing there shots...a consequence of golf and nonissue. Figuring we would be waved ahead we finished the hole....light rain began and we moved to the 11th a par 3. And given we to chased our ball on the 10th we thought for sure the group would be well gone from the par 3 130yd hole, instead they sat in carts and waited for rain to go away. They saw us approach and instead of waving us through they decided to tee off now....
We called ranger and asked if they could handle and not allow us to be stuck again In the back 9....
When the ranger finally arrived he spoke to the group then approached us....his first words....in a threatening and angry voice...."which one of you called the clubhouse"...instinct had me feeling like I should lie and shy away but I knew better and stated it was me...he began to berate and tell me that it s raining and they waited duh....I informed him that is moving ahead was a simple fix...he went on about how stupid I was to call and stared me down in a threatening manner...the twosome we golfed with walked away frustrated and ready to snap...I stated that if this is how he seen the issue then his assistance was no longer needed and we would accept the issue and golf....he called for backup on his intercom and stated that I needed to calm down...I had been calm throughout and stated that I had been recording the exchange and would
Gladly play for any around....he then got in his
Cart and drove away staring me down...our group was blown away by his anger and attacking ways...one of the guys in our group said he walked away because he felt threatened and was ready to fight. What drama!!!!! A day of relaxing golf turned into psycho ranger....but wait....it didn't end there....2 holes later on top of the hill by the green we were hitting to stood the ranger in his cart....we couldn't believe it....he was staring me down as I hit my shots...as I walked to my cart and grabbed my phone to record he drove as fast as he could right toward me and turned sharp...making a squeal sound with tires. He stared me down....I finally took the bait and asked him to leave....that u felt threatened and was going to call the police if he didn't stop....he told me it was a free country and he could do what he wanted and that he was doing his job...I showed my phone and assured him I was recording his actions....he gave a middle finger and drove off....
Wow...a Stephen King novel!!!! On a day I wanted to relax and enjoy golf.....this was my day.
As the sunset on the 18th hole and we finished in the dark we shook hands and wrapped up....never were bothered again after 13th hole....however 6 hours later we couldnt believe the round of drama....
Never again will I go there....
A big issue is angry older people put in these positions and not understanding the game....
The lakes is a waste and will sadly fade into the usual courses that offer little for a high price....
And will most likely find itself taken over by the corporate people who are destroying golf with there lack of improvement and need for profit that supersedes quality.
very POOR shape
worst shape I have ever seen it in very disappointed
Rainy Sunday
Had a great time even though it rained. Pace was slowed after a few holes but was a good time. Staff was great. some spots had standing water that wasn't from the rain. Look forward to playing again soon.
Not what I expected
The course picture shows a green, tree lined fairway. That's NOT what this course is...it's pretty much a links style course...not a lot of shade. Having said that the course was in very good condition and the staff was great. I will definitely go back.
Best Public Course in Downriver Area, Challening Layout
I play this course weekly and it is by far the nicest course in the Downriver area for the public. It is a Very Challenging Layout for every level of golfer and is very well maintained even in the current dry summer we are experiencing. The course also has excellent practice facilities including a Short Game Area which is one of the nicest you will ever find.
Outstanding!
awesome course for the price!
Good course
One of the best downriver
Nice course slow pace
Nice course, nice staff, go for the greens with the driver don't lay up
The greens were awesome
The architect did his job. Every hole that played into the wind was designed that way. The greens were running very quick but true, it did not drain well from its own watering, which I found to be odd since it has not rained much in the last few weeks.
Downriver staple
Nicest course for downriver , always fun to play, great practice facilities and restaurants.
