Really good course, greens are keeping it from being great
This is a really great layout with some interesting holes and plenty of variety in length and shape. You can tell this is a well designed course and certainly not a cookie-cutter subdivision layout like there are far too many of. Great variety in elevation change and design of holes. Only knock on the design is that there are some greens that are far too severe and downright comical in design (particularly the 5th and 9th) but overall the course is very fair with a little challenge and enjoyable for all playing abilities.
As far as conditions go the fairways were over-seeded and although it wasn't lush, the lies were good and there was a good stand of dormant bermuda in the rough as well. The greens were the real problem though, the ones that had good cover were extremely slow (some of the slowest I have ever played) but many of the greens, particularly on the second nine, were very bare with large bumpy mounds throughout.
Overall I would still recommend this course, it is an enjoyable round and the price ($23 for a Tuesday) was very reasonable. I'm not sure I would pay much more than that without better greens though.
Great course layout
overall the course was a good course to play. some of the tea boxes need a little work and a few of the greens were real grainy like that just saying put sand on them. would like to play it again in the spring see what it looks like with grass growing into the greens in better shape
Good course
One of my favorites. The day we played there was still a little snow in shaded areas off of the fairway so conditions weren’t ideal in the middle of winter. Greens slower than usual but normally great. Course layout and staff are always great. Cant wait to comeback in the spring..
Friendly staff, great quality, makes it worth the short trip.
I have played at Cedarbrook CC 4 times and drive 45 minutes to do so. The staff is best in class and knows exactly how to treat guests to make them feel welcome, appreciated, and desiring to return. The course is challenging and the pin placements can be quite difficult. However, the course is in exceptional shape. There are a few areas on the course that retain water consistently so expect a few soggy spots. However, those do not detract from the round. Highly recommend.
Love this course
I have played Cedarbrook several times. This is a great course for a great price. Very fair course with a few challenging holes.
Great day
Thoroughly enjoyed my round today. Great value on a challenging layout. I highly recommend this club.
Rough Greens
This course is a fun one to play! However, the greens aren't in the best of shape right now. Still a good time to be had!
Cedarbrook Review
Overall I would want to play this course since I would love to see this course in more optimal condition. The very friendly man in the clubhouse apologized for the negative effect the rain had on the greens and rough.
I'm sure those things will be taken care of quickly once we have a dry spell.
The most frustrating thing was the pace of play being stuck behind a fivesome on the front and back nine.
That is the only factor that would keep me coming back to play. The Ellis Maples course design is outstanding and the greens are very tricky. I loved the layout but I was very surprised that the club has a policy allowing a group of five (slow players to boot) on such a nice track.
A great course
Cedarbrook is a place to play. With plenty of challenge and great conditions year round.
I’ve played Cedarbrook several times with friends from NC and had always been in great shape. Today not so much, lot of tee boxes were bare, the greens were SUPER slow and rough and some had a few bare spots. Fairways were in good condition.
Fairways and greens in rough shape compared to typical standards.
Not the Best
Greens were patchy and extremely slow. Tee boxes were hit or miss whether they contained grass or not. A lot of side hill, down hill lies.
