About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

Staff could be a little nicer. No carts we're available, had to wait until tee time for cart. Didn't see a cart girl on the front 9. Let 2, 5somes take off in front of our group of 3. Course was in nice shape. If your not a member, staff could care less about you.

Excellent Condition
This is a course in great condition. It would help to have cold water bottles in an ice box at certain locations to improve the experience on a hot summer day. The driving range has distance measuring section which is awesome.

Excellent course
First time playing here. Excellent layout and very good course conditions. Didn’t see the beverage cart until the 18th hole. Maybe because it was a Monday? Pricey, but you’re paying for an upper level course, not a muni. Will be back.

Great course. Staff could use some work.
This course is great. I always enjoy playing it. For the first time we were told by the course marshal to speed up play due to an empty hole in front of us. When we got to the following hole a group was playing.

SLOW
Avery is a really nice track, greens and fairways are fantastic! But every time I play there the pace of play is awful. Tee was 2:42 finished at 8pm.

First of all the course was in great condition only real complaints are range is absolutely terrible. The mats where beyond worn. I got a medium range bucket(55 golf balls) almost every single one had cuts or pieces missing in them. Also the carts looked like they were falling apart. I got mine and the side board was sticking out. I spent about $70 for a Thursday afternoon round, honestly not worth it but course was in great shape so I can’t complain too much but could of gone to other courses in Austin for similar conditions and a way better RANGE.

Always plays well
Big fan of Avery ranch, course holds up well even with all the rain. Greens are always nice even with all the play. Enjoy the challenging layout and a variety of tees to challenge ya

Golf at Avery Ranch
Great course. Starts out with some holes that make you feel good about your game. Then brings in the the tougher ones that bring you back to reality. Waiting for them to upgrade the carts with yardage screens.

Nice course But 5 hour rounds don't cut it.
Course was in great shape , But pace of play was horrible. 5+ hours for the round and had 2 group back up on every tee. No ranger to push play and overbooked.

TOO SLOW!!!
I've played Avery many times and I almost always have a great time. While the guys I was paired with today were lots of fun, the fact that we had to wait on every single shot was excruciating in this heat! Not once did we see a course marshall. It took over 5 hours to play and it was 95*+. I could somewhat understand if this was a weekend or holiday, but it is just a normal Thursday. There is no excuse for allowing this much slow play. Come on Avery, get your act together. There's too many other places to play to tolerate this lack of control of the pace of play.
