About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

Poor greedy management
Let's start with the cart, they charged me $16 extra even though there were only two carts for the foursome (twosome were walking the course). At checkin, I was told the other one-some was OK to ride cart with me when in-fact he had not even checked in. And he rode his cart with his girlfriend, which would have made that impossible. This course has learnt the corona trick to fleece customers, disgraceful I say. After my round, went to grab a beer but misplaced my drink coupon, waitress wouldn't honor my receipt from morning, she was extremely rude. I paid for the drink, but the attitude was totally unnecessary.

Very nice course
Beautiful course. A few holes that surprise you if you haven't played here before (like us), but it was a really nice day. Go play here. It's worth it.

Greens were lush, rolled and in great shape.
Not bad. Layout is a carbon copy of Avery; ShadowGlen. But it was in great shape. Greens were pristine but very slow. Too slow. Hopefully they firm up soon. Overall very pleased and will definitely be playing there again soon.

Poor management and extremely slow pace
Course is in rough shape, bunkers are like rocks, and woman staff member is very unfriendly and hostile. Only good thing about this place is driving range.

Bunkers need work as even new sand seems like ground clay. Others not yet worked are more like hard pan. Greens were somewhat inconsistent with poa annua grass creeping in heavily to some of the greens. Needs more TLC then in previous years to get back to a top public course.

Don’t know why I don’t play here more.
Played here about two years ago and then never came back. And don’t know why. Course was not over booked pace of play was perfect. Greens for winter conditions and post Texas blizzard were great and attention to maintenance on course was evident. I love playing in Austin over Houston because of the topography and this course does not have the vistas that some in Austin do but the course holds my interest and challenged me. Overall great value for money, course layout very good, pace of play was spot on and I recommend this course and it will not be two years before I come back!

Double charged
I made my reservation and paid the green fee at the course. Play was fine but there is zero reason to charge $70+ for these conditions and layout, especially this time of year.
The next morning I received an email from GolfNow stating that I was a no-show and the course had requested to collect from me. I've reached out to both GolfNow and Avery Ranch with zero resonse so far.
The course is overpriced and now you're charging people double? I will never play here again.

Greens amazing
Great day on the ranch. Always busy now but still good pace. End of round people get tired and slows a bit but no issues. Greens were double cut and the best I'd played in the area and I play alot. even after the rain, course held up well, Growing in nicely and soon should be nice and green.
