Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.

The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.

No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.

Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

I like Avery but hope for a few small changes..

They charge a pound of flesh to play there.

It's ok because it's a pretty nice course.

Avery Rqnch has oversold their players clubemberships.

What is not okay is showing up to the range an hour early to warm up for my tee time.and seeing families taking up all.the hitting areas. Why does a kid need a large bucket of balls?

I only got to hit a handful of balls 10 min before my tee time because families decide the busiest day of the week for golf is the best time to teach their brats golf.

Why can't kids practice Sunday afternoon? It's mostly foreign kids so their parents want to teach their kids golf. I get it.

Also, be quiet on the range. Nobody wants to hear you scream.at your children while teaching them. Golf is hard.

Another thing is why can't they cut back some of the tree limbs? One shouldn't have to contend with braches from a tee box.

Overall I like Avery. I'll play there again but there is a reason I dropped my membership and stopped practicing there.

It is overrun by families taking up all the range time and slowing down Pace of play.

Cheers.

We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience with us. We do encourage families to enjoy time on the range and of course we love instilling an appreciation for the game in our young people. But we understand your frustration as well. We will pass this along to our management team.

What’s the point of a Marshall?

I love this course. It’s worth the drive; challenging layout, in great shape. Friday tee time @1000. Out as a single. Stuck between 2 foursomes. On 11, the group in front waives me up (par 3). Pull it pin high on a 203 yd par 3. Get up there and a woman from the group is RUNNING toward my ball. Hits it over the green. Ma’am, your ball’s in the woods. Pass them to find 12-15 wide open. Marshall out there all day. Too slow for $60 round. Played 10 holes & left.

My favorite public course

Avery Ranch is the best public course in the Austin area. The course is challenging, but not crazy difficult. The greens are always in good shape. The pace of play is usually managed pretty well with little waiting between holes. It can be walked although there are.few long walks from green to tee. I drive 30 min. to play here and hardly ever play anywhere else.

Deceptive pricing on tee times

Booked a hot deal tee time on Golf Now for $65 and the pro shop would not honor the pricing and charged me $85. Golf Director was extremely rude and basically told to shove it. I’m not opposed to paying higher green fees but the course condition and amenities are not worth that. Over rated

Unfortunately, your original tee time was a $65 weekday tee time but you changed your reservation to a Friday tee time, which is weekend pricing. We cannot honor a weekday rate on a weekend-rated day. We apologize if you weren't aware that Fridays are considered weekends at Avery Ranch but that's fairly common practice at golf courses. We hope you can understand and will give us another shot in the future.

Nice course, greens, clubhouse.... pace of play terrible

Course is in good shape. Greens great and some terrific holes. Picturesque nature, black squirrels and deer provide great atmosphere. The course layout is cool, the back 9 has 3x par 5s and 3x par 3s. The back 9 is terrific

The pace of play is consistently 5 hour rounds in my two experiences here. When i mentioned this to the starter I was told it was the responsibility of the course marshalls. I have never seen a course marshall on the course. In addition, signage on the cart and on first tee states “keep pace of play to 4hours” however the scorecard provides hole by hole pacing for 4:30. It appears the course are recommending 4:30hrs round if all you look at is the scorecard. At hole 16 we had 4 groups waiting to play on top of one another.

The course needs marshalling and clear guidance if expectation is 4hr or 430 round with follow up.

Tee times are only a suggestjon

Reserved tee time for 12:45 and asked to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Checked in at noon and told tee time pushed to 1:08. Went to the starter's booth at 1:00 and told that my tee time was pushed to 1:30. The starter was very nice and paired me with a threesom scheduled for 1:12. So it mostly worked out, but still annoyed they kept pushing my tee time after taking my money. This time of year with the early sunset, it means you are guaranteed not to be able to play all the holes you paid for. If I knew this was going to be the case, I wouldn't have made the tee time.

I was also following a group playing from the black tees who had no business playing from there. No Marshall to encourage them to play from a more forward tee, so had to wait for them on every hole. Overall I don't think I'll be return
