Avery Ranch Golf Club
About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

Fun day
Very friendly people. Course is in excellent shape. Pace of play was very good. I saw more Marshall’s on the course and it seemed to help the pace of play.
SLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWWWW.....
Oh god Avery Ranch...such a great place, awesome track, friendly staff, great range and great burger...but it’s NEVER ok to book tee times 3 minutes apart. The first time I played here the pace was wicked slow. The worst of the 2019 season. Ended up close to the course today and decided to give it a go again since Avery was close by. HUGE mistake. Took 3 hrs and 10 mins to play NINE with 10-20 mins wait EVERY shot. No Marshall’s anywhere in sight. When the gentleman behind me told me his tee time was 3 mins after mine I quickly understood how this club is run. This makes the value of this course drop tremendously. Time is money so I’ll be doing my part to help out the pace at this course by NEVER coming back again. Such a shame because it’s a nice course and a lot of fun to play. But no thanks to 6hr + rounds. Oh and a friendly tip from a guy that’s been playing for over 25 years...guys shooting 100 and over....the course is no place for you. Stay on the range for a few years till you’re ready. Been seeing A LOT of beginners in the Austin area teeing up on really nice challenging courses AND HAVE NO BUSINESS ON THE COURSE. PLEASE DO EVERYONE A FAVOR A SPEND A FEW YEARS TRAINING ON THE RANGE UNTIL YOU'RE GOOD ENOUGH TO MOVE ONTO A COURSE. PLEASE!!! Spend time learning the rules and what is acceptable as far as etiquette and a least attempting to keep pace. Folks new to the game also don’t seem to understand that they need to move their butts sometimes to keep a good pace (no looking for extra balls, hitting more than 2 shots, waiting to hit when the people in front of them are 350yds away, chatting away, not being ready to hit etc.) If you’re not doing your best to keep things moving it’s heavy frowned upon. Unfortunately, it only slows down pace of play and no one benefits if you’re still well over 100. No one will ever tell this to beginners but should. Practice practice practice. When you can keep your score under 100 constantly and can keep a good pace, you’re ready. Until then, STAY OFF THE COURSE!
Waiting for the paint to dry.
The pace of play is always slow when I do play at Avery Ranch. We waited on every hole for the groups ahead of us which caused us not to finish 18 holes.
GREAT COURSE, SLOW PLAY
people in front were playing a fivesome, and play took over 5 hours. Love the course, but marshals need to pay attention to speed of groups.
Avery Eanch
Nice track with good greens. We played behind a tournament so the place of play was slow. I liked the layout of the back 9 over the front.
4.5 hours to play 13 holes
First and last time I will play Avery Ranch. It took almost 4.5 hours to play 13 holes during the week. I have played tournaments in less time than it took to play today. The course is very pretty and looks good. Greens were ok. Slow and people don’t repair their ball marks. If any course needs a MARSHAL this course does. Unless you want to spend an entire day playing golf, stay away from Avery Ranch.
Great course close by
10 minutes from the house, always looking for a hot deal. Great to play any opportunity. Felt a little slow with my threesome, but it was still under 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon. Can’t ask for more than that. Great layout. Great course.
Beautiful Course
Fun challenging course. conditions were great. Staff was very nice. We will definitely play this course again
Challenging but fun
This was a pretty hard but rewarding course. I’m a little under a bogey golfer but found myself scoring one of the worse rounds of mine in recent memory even though I felt like I had played a good round because it is not a forgiving course. Great place to work on your game as well as a well maintained course which is something you don’t always get with the munis down south.
