Avery Ranch Golf Club
About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

GREAT!
For the price to play in the “winter” was amazing! Was on vacation from NJ and was worth every dime. If you’re going to play, you may be better off bringing your clubs as opposed to renting. The rental cost more than the green fee.
Great Course, but challenging.
Had a wonderful day playing golf on this tough course. It was cart path only, unfortunately, but still played in 4 hrs. Great greens.
Worst 6 hours of my life
Worst 6 hours of my life in January on a great course, RIDICULOUS
Nice course great layout but very slow
I like the layout and for winter conditions they are great. Fsst true greens, challenging layout. BUT the pace of play is terrible and the clientele are clueless. This is marked as a higher end course but the players at the local munies have a lot more etiquette. Threesome took 15 min to play 3/4 of a par 5 as I waited to play my 3 shot they started screaming at me for hitting my second shot 30 yards from them. I will never go back
Superb course
If one of your goals is to play a layout that can challenge you with risk/ reward, Avery Ranch delivers. Great layout and impeccable conditions at a great value.
Been ahile
While suppose to rain, we played in 60 degree weather and no wind-just overcast...Course a bit wet but fairways in great shape...Greens in good shape but a bit bumpy at times....Overall a great track and joy to play. Food excellent and reasonable as well....Will return.
Nice Course
I played here on a tournament. The course is very well maintained. The greens are gorgeous. The course plays pretty long. Even though is quite far from where I live, if given a chance I would come back here and play again. The only negative is that carts don't have GPS on them, besides that I have no complaints.
Hill country beauty
Course is in great shape. Pace of play 3.45 on a Sunday. Not bad. Met some great people and had a good round.
Good Course; great value
2nd time to play the course. Great condition. Challenging but fair layout. Filled with holes that are visually pleasing and suggestive of the benefits of local knowledge. You want to come back and play it again because you think you'll know how to play it smarter and better the next time.
Great course
First time playing this course. What a great course in north Austin, probably the best I have played in the Austin area so far. Staff was extremely friendly, walked me outside to my cart pointed me in the direction of the practice area and where the 10th hole was. (On Tuesdays you start on the back 9 so they can do maintenance to the front) Would highly recommend to anyone considering playing here. Course can be challenging but great for any level golfer.
Great value- fun course
Course in very good condition especially considering the heat and drought we’re going through. A fun layout. Always enjoy playing here. Staff is great.
Always enjoyable
This is a great course for the price. Pace of play on Monday waa a little over 3 hours.I would highly recommend. I play once a week
Hope no one finds out how good a course this is
First time to play this course in years. It is in fantastic condition. Fairways great. Greens fantastic, fast. I almost hope no one reads this so it will never get crowded, but course and staff have earned great rating. Thanks.
Good times by all
Great course, all levels can play plenty of tees. Only negative is the sand traps which are more like rock traps. If you stay out of them your ok if not get ready to remove ALOT OF LOOSE ROCKS
Great, Except the Bunkers
I love this course except for one thing, the bunkers are not sand. They are dried up gravel and rocks that will damage your clubs. Aside of that, this is a great course. Pay attention to the hole diagrams or you will be ambushed by the creeks that cross the fairways. :-)
