Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

Great elevated tee boxes and the greens are firm and fast the overall course is watered good nice and green
Wait time
Usually this course is great to play but today it is so backed up, on average we waited 10 minutes per shot.
My back never did loosen up because I would hit and wait 10-15 for the next shot. On the plus side we got to talk to the people in front of us and in back of us.

So if I lived closer I would play here more it's a fantastic course challenging and safety on the course were needed good condition overall and a steel at a good price.
Fun course to play
This course is fun to play. Fairways are kept cut at a good height. Elevated tees, elevated greens, rolling fairways. Every hole brings a different challenge. Greens are in nice shape and roll pretty fast. The staff is very friendly. Looking forward to our next round here. Thanks

Scenic course. Excellent condition. The layout is challenging and fun. Highly recommend playing La Contenta.
Great course
Course played the best , out of the more than dozen times over the years, that I have played it. I will definitely put this course on my radar more , for play. Naturally the restaurant/club were closed bc of COVID-19.
Best condition
I have played this course since 1984, use to belong to the men’s club there for over 30 year this is the best condition I have ever seen the course in.
Covid
Interesting without the flags.. just hit to center of green and you’re fine.
Sad
Drove 56 miles only to find the course closed since Saturday. I was never notified.
A great day
La Contenta over the years has been a favorite of mine. The course was under the current restricktions of the coronavirus, but the fact of the matter was that we got to play golf. Most other courses are closed. The bar and grill were closed and carts were limited to one person. There were other safeguards in place but they were all reasonable. I will continue to recommend this course to others.
What a treat
Fun course. What it lacks in length, it makes up for in personality. Tricky for a first timer, but local players we’re friendly and happy to point us in the right direction. Don’t need to rely on driver, calls for accuracy of the tee box on a lot of the holes. Fun par threes. Would enjoy play this one again for sure.

I was impressed by the course layout and by the condition of the greens and fairways, taking into account the time of year in which we are playing currently.
