Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

Great day for golf
We had a great day amazing fall weather met some great guys we played with. Will be back on Monday veterans day thanks
No Marshals?
Watching the drunks in front of me swinging 8-10 times per hole was most annoying. When they grabbed more beers from their car on the turn I spent 15 minutes in the restaurant. Three holes later I was stuck behind them again. Why not let a single play through? I was so looking forward to to speaking them in the parking lot after my round. Perhaps they were at the bar? I still love the course and come from the Carson City to play.
Interesting layout
This course features some interesting holes with elevated tees and some flat meadow style holes. Not a good walking course. Conditions were above average. Does not have a driving range. Overall enjoyed the course and its challenges.
Could be better
Warm up area is atrocious, needs to be cleaned up. The course is overwatered! Lots of soft, muddy spots on the fairways and around the greens. Unplayable lies need to be marked off. No beer carts were visible, teed off at 1120a on a Sunday. Had breakfast burritos at the turn which i was worried about because i had no idea when they were made. Hot Dogs available? They were unappetizing pre-made sandwhiches available but at least the beer priced fairly.
Course conditions
Didn’t but should have known this time of year that the greens were sanded. Probably wouldn’t have changed the tee time, but would have liked to know. $43.00 should have been discounted.

WE HAD A GREAT TIME, WE MET SOME PEOPLE WHO HAD NEVER PLAYED THE COURSE AND WE PLAYED WITH THEM
Not Handicap friendly
Just about every entrance to the fairways are roped off making very difficult for a handicap golfer. In the past I have communicated the same problems to upper management. They really need to do a better job at providing a easier access
Fun Day
First time playing this course. Was paired up with a great group. Fairways were in decent shape, & the greens were rolling nicely. Some really nice views from some of the tee boxes. Will play again when in the area.
We had a great time. The course is in good shape, a little wet in places. We will be back.
Great Course
We were on vacation and took advantage of the Golf Now opportunity. It is a nice course we enjoyed the challenging layout. It's located or has a country side environment. Very pretty location. I would recommend playing this course!

Beautiful course!!
Played this course for the first time today. It a beautiful course in its setting, landscaping and layout. This golf course will challenge your skills in keeping the ball where you have a clear shot at the flag. Not every hole but the layout and landing zones are challenging. The course, fairways rough and greens were well kept. I highly recommend to make the drive to play this course.
Fun Course
I hadn't played La Contenta in over 20 over years and made the trek up on Tuesday after Memorial Day. Made a 10 am tee time through Golfnow and walked for $28. The guy in the shop was nice and made sure I got out before the twosome who checked in ahead of me. The course was pretty much empty except for a few foursomes. I walked 18 in 3 hours and 30 minutes and worked up a nice sweat doing so, with the elevation changes on a few holes.
The conditions of the course were pretty good considering the recent wet weather. Specifically, the greens were in good shape. The layout of the course is challenging with a few blind shots and decent elevation change on at least 5 approach shots. Definitely a course that would need to be played a few times if you happened to be preparing for a tournament there.
Only real drawback was all the houses in close proximity to the course. Also, there is no driving range - just a few nets, which I don't mind but others might.
I would definitely come back if I find a good deal and know it won't be crazy busy.
Surprised Me
Hadn't played this course in quite a few years, used to play it on a regular basis. Been wanting to play it since it was sold just to see if it changed. I was very impressed with the condition of the course. The greens were in pretty darn good shape, the fairways were excellent, sand traps could use a little work. Staff was very friendly. Only got a hot dog and a beer at the turn, everything was great so I gave it a 5.I will be back to play it again.
Beautiful weather except a little windy and wet places but it was good.
Perfect weather and good pace of the play. Exceptionally courteous and friendly service. Totally enjoyed a day.

You are a rare bird for walking this course. I have played this course a dozen times and have never seen a walker. Although, some of the holes are curbed disallowing driving in the fairway, there's way too many elevation changes for anyone to walk it. Unless, you're a rare bird!
