La Contenta Golf Club
About
Nestled in the heart of California Gold Country, La Contenta Golf Course wanders through the foothills of the Sierras. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains, the course feels peacefully secluded and enjoys stunning views, yet it is conveniently just a short drive from Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley. The layout sprawls across a diverse terrain that ranges from lush valleys to grassy meadows. With the up-and-down of the golf course, accuracy is a necessity, especially with large water features coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. One particularly memorable hole is the par-3 13th. This scenic hole tumbles down from a dramatic elevated tee. La Contenta Golf Course has been one of northern California's most popular public courses for more than three decades.

To big of tournaments over a 100.
All out of carts had to wait for them to bring a empty one .waiting long times at each golf hole . and the clubhouse was full of guys drinking you couldn't hardy get to the bathrooms .I have Golf here many times i had never this kind of experience .
Just a very nice course at a good price with a beautiful restaurant !! I will be back a lot !!!!
Nice Day of Golfing
La Contenta is making a comeback from previous management where upgrades were lacking! New carts was a nice addition to the new management company that recently took over. Greens were recently "seeded" making for a good excuse in missing my puts but they are taking shape! The course is challenging due to most fairways "hilly"! Give it a try!

Some Positives & Negatives
Positives: Course is well groomed & maintained. Proshop staff accommodating and friendly. There are many difficult elevation changes, and several blind shots into greens creating interesting scramble shots. Takes a couple rounds to learn the course. Restaurant is quite good, have to say the breakfasts are excellent; 19th hole well worth a visit aswell.
Negitives: Course does not drain well. I've played there a week after normal rain events a couple of times to find very boggy fairways down slope of tee boxes.
Just a nice golf course
Live in Angels Camp and decided to check La Contenta out. The experience was very, very good! Went on Golf Now and got an incredible deal. The two of us, with a cart, paid $40. It is a very nice course and would recommend it to anyone. Plan on making it a weekly experience !!!
This course is great
We enjoyed our round at La Contenta. The course is in great condition and the weather was outstanding. We will be back soon for another.
I hope you like hills
The curse is a bargain. Pace of play was under 4.5 hours on all of 4 days this year, the fastest was a 3-some. We played in 3:15. On some of the holes you feel like a mountain goat, others are flat as a pancake. Greens are receptive but fast and tricky. I would not recommend you walk this course unless you are in good shape.
Good round
Good greens, friendly staff. Only complaint is very wet fairways. I understand needing water during hot days but every shot became a huge mudball.
The course is looking better
I have to repeat what I have said in past reviews. There continues to be fivesomes and even SIXSOMES on the course. Not a good image for any course and an embarrassment when I bring a guest to the course.
Very Challenging course
Love playing here, was my 4 time this season. Very challenging course. The day we played the course was very wet due to over watering for the hot days in the past. Looking forward to playing there again in the up coming weeks
Fun course
Very nice and friendly course in Gold Country. Good layout, friendly staff, good value . Glad we had a member with us to provide local knowledge. Several blind tee shots and at least one green where the flag wasn't visible. Fun day, will play again
Wow!
I've been told many times to play this course, but the hour long drive kept deterring me. This course was more than I had expected. The huge elevation changes, the difficult layouts to each hope, made my experience both fun and challenging. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE DRIVE TO GET THERE.
Best Around
La Contenta is probably my favorite course outside of Sacramento. The 13th (par 3) is so fun that even if you hit an amazing shot, you'll want to hit another ball, and another. Personally, I always play 5 shots off that tee just to see the ball soar for what seems like forever and stick the green as if you had dropped a rock pin high. For the first timer, it's challenging; go back a second time and it's a moderate difficulty. The fairways are forgiving for the most part; their nice and wide when you need them to be. If you can keep your shots in the fairways, you should have no problem breaking 90. The greens are not great on the lower elevations: soft, pocked-marked by poorly repaired divots and they do have some dead spots. Upper elevation greens are dry and fast and always in great shape. Carts are top rate and handle the terrain well. Pro shop feels like a country club. The restaurant/bar is usually full of flies and the service is somewhat slow. I've eaten here twice and wasn't impressed. I recommend that you bring your own food and beer, even though they probably don't want you too. The prices for food/drink are reasonable, however. But I never go to these places to eat anyway. I go for a good round of golf and my hat's off to La Contenta
